So true. Adding more southern schools to the SEC only delutes their product. Consider that Georgia just beat Clemson 34-3 and FSU started the season 0-3 it is delusional for the ACC to imagine these schools bring value to the SEC. The ACC is trash and will probably dissolve but ironically FSU and Clemson may among the schools that are stuck in the league.
Why would the B1G want a small private school located in the southern most state of the Continental United States at the end of a 400 mile long peninsula who doesn’t even have an on campus stadium. Add to that the football team has only been barely decent for the last 20 years, the stadium is usually half empty on game day, and the average day time temperature is close to 90 degrees in September and October. And on top of those concerns, the TV ratings have been poor for many years which makes me question just how much Fox is really interested in the Hurricanes. Miami will be lucky to get an invite to the Big 12 and if that doesn’t happen, they could end up in Conference USA playing FIU and Jacksonville State. The flight time from Miami to Seattle is longer than the flight time from Boston to Dublin Ireland across the Atlantic Ocean. Just saying.
@theneighborhoodmentors9347 Ken Swilling was a great safety and Marco something as the DE they didn't do anything in the NFL though. I'm not sure why they haven't been able to build a program and take advantage of such a great recruiting area.
Another great take. FSU/Clemson identify well in the SEC. One point to consider: The SEC is really sensitive & careful about targeting teams/states/fan bases that identify with the South. So, culture is important to them. Sure, money is a priority, but they can get money teams w/o compromising the culture aspect. It is why so many want Vandy to be booted from the SEC.
B1G - Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Notre Dame, Stanford, California SEC - NC State, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Clemson XII - Louisville, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Duke, Wake Forest, SMU, Boston College
No power conference is going above 20 members: B1G grabs UVA and then waits for ND. SEC grabs FSU, Clemson, UNC and one more ACC school. Big 12 grabs Louisville, Pitt, Miami, and one more ACC school. Three power conferences with 20 members each. Game. Set. Match.
There’s no way the SEC takes NC State or Louisville. The Big12 turned down SMU last year which is how they ended up in the ACC. A lot of these lower tier, left over ACC schools will end up in G5 eventually.

Football royalty, basketball brand-name appeal, academic elite schools with money, and institutional ties will determine who is in and who is out, but I see such a "third conference" looking like this: FSU Miami Clemson Georgia Tech Duke UNC Virginia Pitt Louisville Cal Stanford BYU Utah Colorado Arizona Arizona State Kansas Kansas State Everyone else would be relegated to "Group of Five" status. It would suck for college football, but it would concentrate wealth in the hands of the Big Football and Big Money schools, which is the point of realignment these days.

The Legislature has gotten involved in these University sports before. They forced the 4 ACC schools in N.C. to play ECU, App State and others in a regular cycle. It is a lose lose for the ACC schools. Hurts in recruiting if you lose. Does not help in recruiting at all. These other schools circle a target around these games.
That bill that you mention has not even been passed and signed into law as of yet. The legislature has used the threat of passing laws before, but has never gone threw with it in the end and even if the law is passed it does not mean it will survive legal challenges.

UNC-Duke will play each other in Basketball as long as the games are still played in college. Only question will be if it is one or two games per year. They are 8 miles a part. Because the SEC places football first, the Virginia school would be Virginia Tech. The North Carolina school would most likely be NC State. It's not that Clemson and FSU are not valuable programs, they just don't add TV markets. The SEC already has the SC markets with USC and the Florida markets with UF.
Well legally NC State Is bound to UNC by state law, so it's both or neither you can't pick one off unless the state legislature decides otherwise. Also VA has a similar law with UVA and VTech
Neither these states or these schools are in any position to make any demands. When ESPN cancels the ACC media right contract, it will be every school for itself. I can see the AAC willing to take all 4 schools, but not the B1G or the SEC or even the Big 12.

Clemson and FSU reportedly are favorites to join the B1G. The SEC doesn't seem to want to add more teams from Florida and South Carolina is the rumor. They were fine with it when it came to a brand like Texas while already having A&M. Stanford and Cal to the B1G make no sense at this point. They could've already taken both schools at a very reduced rate but opted not to. Why would they do that now. Cal especially is just a deadweight program. That team likely would end up in the MWC or re-imagined PAC which is MWC 2.0. Stanford could get into the B1G if ND joins the B1G and wants it. Again, the bay area is big, but nobody cares about Stanford athletics. If the B1G are trying to add teams in the west then Utah makes sense. Louisville seems destined to the B12. UNC and Virginia, to the SEC is also a rumor floating out there.
Academically, Cal & Stanford are attractive, & they would give the west coast B1G teams other teams, but Cal literally brings almost nothing to the table. You can add Stanford but only with the caveat that ND comes along. Cal & Stanford would probably go to the G5 Pac 12 with Oregon State/Washington St. These moves are about football now & Cal & Stanford just don't bring much to the table.

Three or four ACC teams are on UCONN’s football schedule every year. But for some reason they still don’t want UCONN in the conference. Phillips is not a proactive guy. He will regret not adding UCONN if/when there is a mass exodus. I’m a RFK jr guy. Your coverage of him moving to the Trump camp was excellent! He made the correct decision. I will be voting Trump / Vance / Kennedy in November!
Yeah, I base that on how the relations with Boston College improved to the point where they’ve scheduled home & aways with UCONN again - just finished the second one last year. And ACC teams have no problem scheduling UCONN now. Seems like they have 3 or 4 ACC teams on our schedule every year. Yes, they added SMU over UCONN. My take on that is that the ACC wants access to the Dallas market and SMU was willing to take no payout for 9 years or something like that. Does Phillips and some of the university presidents still hold a grudge? Maybe but I doubt it. As a UCONN guy I’m not over losing any more sleep over conference realignment. Not being in the ACC hasn’t impeded UCONN’s success in basketball and other sports. It has impacted football for sure. But in the end UCONN will always be a basketball first school. I would add that I would be content to remain in the Big East if they can’t get into the ACC. Don’t want to move to the Big 12.
@@jamesk7963 The biggest objectors have been the "football schools" and the former BIGEAST (especially MIAMI). I personally think the water should be now far downstream, but UNC wasn't affected by UCONN's extreme tactics. Similar to the current FSU situation actually.
When you say extreme tactics you mean when UCONN sued the ACC? That would piss me off too. That was beyond stupid on the State of Connecticut’s part. They ruined any good will they had left. But wasn’t UNC in UCONN’s corner when Maryland left? And yes the football schools derailed UCONN and demanded that Louisville be added. I’d be surprised if the ACC adds any more schools for awhile. They're easy replaced by West Virginia, Connecticut, and Cincinnati then ACC can focus on natural rivalry and good overall athletic program teams. Maryland and Rutgers might be difficult to lure despite they have natural rivalries in ACC.

I don't think any of these conferences get to 20 except the Big 10. Espn has serious money issues, so they aren't paying for all these schools. The Big 12 aren't taking the schools you chose. SEC would take FSU & Clemson, that's it.
There is nothing left on the board that would make the SEC anymore money. If they bring in another pair of teams, it will reduce the pay for the reat of the league.

You overvalued the top of the ACC and undervalued the Big 12 conference as a whole.
Everyone keeps talking about "UNC" rising football program. That's true, as I've been reminded for the last 30 years, they are on the rise. When are they going to get there? NC State is a far better fit for the SEC. If it's football dollars you are talking? NC state is the best NC team. They travel better. They have better TV ratings. They have a way better fan base. SEC is NOT EXPANDING. None of the ACC teams move the needle enough to add them. BigTen loves adding Big Cities. Big12 will gobble up all the ACC teams
Delusional....
The Big12 already rejected Cal/Stanford/WasZu/OreState. Makes more sense they bring the PAC12 back with those 4 and the best of the Mountain West.

Curious... For how long and by how many professionals must it be reported that CLEMSON and FSU are low expansion priorities for the SEC (and B1G)?

No power conference is going above 20 members:
B1G grabs UVA and then waits for ND.

Big 12 grabs Louisville, Pitt, Miami, and one more ACC school.
Three power conferences with 20 members each.

As an LSU fan, I wouldn't mind having FSU and Clemson in the SEC. I would also go get North Carolina and Virginia for basketball .
There’s no way the SEC takes NC State or Louisville. The Big12 turned down SMU last year which is how they ended up in the ACC. A lot of these lower tier, left over ACC schools will end up in G5 eventually.

The ACC added SMU over UCONN, yet you claim that water is now under the bridge?
You disrespect the Big XII. On average, the Big XII is much better than the SEC academically. Don’t see SMU getting in the Big XII, but can see Louisville, Virginia Tech, Pitt, NC State, Duke, and Miami as strong Big XII candidates with Georgia Tech being a possibility.
SMU, Cal & Stanford would all go to the PAC-12.
DG has a lot of bad takes but this makes way more sense than the garbage from College Football Addiction. That dude blows up the ACC on a daily basis it’s nuts.
Louisville and nc state would never survive in the sec. They wouldn’t be able to compete recruitment wise. FSU can compete because they’ve already had great success in football and recruitment for a very long time.
FSU has built up a hatred for all things ESPN and SEC.
This is a fairly uneducated video. You're putting teams into the SEC in the Big 10 that are clearly Big 12 schools. Outside of Clemson and Florida State, and UNC, the ACC upper echelon is very similar to the Big 12. Bottom of the ACC is not valuable to the Big 12, and would be a net negative. You overvalued the top of the ACC and undervalued the Big 12 conference as a whole.
B1G wants FSU, Clemson, Miami, and ND
Everyone keeps talking about "UNC" rising football program. That's true, as I've been reminded for the last 30 years, they are on the rise. When are they going to get there?
NC State is a far better fit for the SEC. If it's football dollars you are talking? NC state is the best NC team. They travel better. They have better TV ratings. They have a way better fan base.
UNC is also a better academic fit for the B!G. No way Duke goes to the SEC as this is about football Revenue. Duke would be better going the way of Gonzaga or Seton Hall. Focus on Basketball and don't worry about football.
These options are just dumb....don't know how you suggest such bad options
NC rising football power?? What? Then Minnesota must be a juggernaut since they are favored by 2 first game of year...NC is all football hype - lousy tv ratings, fan apathy and the opposite of rising football team...
And a tissue paper candy ass football program
Just fix the conference names so the number or geographic identifier is correct.
Notre Dame is always going to be an independent. They just make too much money that way.
North Carolina, Duke, and possibly NC State and Wake Forest, would have to be a package deal.
The Big Ten is not changing its name. The name is longstanding IP and brand recognition. Anyone suggesting we change our name is clearly wet behind the ears and not vested in Big Ten country.
@@A1GooglerThey’ve already rebranded themselves as the B1G. The ten while still used by B1G fans, isn’t a part of the new B1G as it is branded now.
Louisville and SMU to big 1a2 probably will happen
Cal and Stanford back home to the PAC. Come back home to the West Coast Cal and Stanford. The PAC misses you. And bring our beloved Utah with you while we’re at it.
Miami, Louisville, Pitt, VaTech, NC state Big 12... FSU/Clemson to SEC the rest go to hell..
Oh damn... Wasn't expecting that. Ha
In context, the new BIG12 is already Hell.
The ACC is imploding?
This video, like all others on this subject, aged very poorly.
Florida st and Clemson are going to big ten and Virginia and North Carolina to sec
??? Don't you mean the other way around? FSU and Clemson have the SEC mentality while UVA and UNC have the Big 10's academic standards.
Sec would not get Virginia
UVA is not SEC material on the field.
Neither UNC or UVA have won 10 games in a season in 10 years the SEC already have Vandy, Arkansas, Miss St.
UNC and Clemson will be numbers 17 and 18 to the SEC. FSU is going to the B1G.
NC State is a great fit for the SEC
Pitt to the big ten is good because of the rivalry with pennstate
Our rivalry with WVU is bigger at this point. B12 move would guarantee that annually.
You can’t have a rivalry if Penn State isn’t all that interested in playing Pitt (4 times in the last 25 years). Neither PSU or OSU want Pitt in the B1G . I’m not even sure the Big 12 wants Pitt.
@Funkenstein91 then who should the big ten take over pitt
Nobody wants Duke it’s nc state that would go with unc
Duke is way more valuable with basketball than any sport NC State would bring. Duke has also started to improve its football program. They would be taken over NC State any day of the week.
The SEC had standing invites for UNC/DUKE for years, likely still do.
@@scotttild nc state makes more from there football program in 1 year than Duke does with there basketball in 2
@@scotttild let’s not be ridiculous neither the sec nor big 10 want anything to do with Duke nor have they ever said they wanted anything to do with them
Why do you need to speculate? Oh yes you need the money.
This Dude just runs wild at the mouth!
You must be getting your information from Genetics 56 and Tony Altimore. What incredibly bad takes.
