I think we need to stop with all the X-loss talk. Yeah maybe 9-3 Alabama shouldn't make the playoffs. But they should be ahead of 10-2 BYU. Or at least it's a discussion. The number of losses shouldn't define a team.
@user-op4ln2qj5p what happens on the field has to matter though. Otherwise why even play the games. I hear what you are saying and to a degree I agree, bc there are some good losses, like Boise to Oregon for example. But I don't want some teams with 3 or 4 losses ahead of others bc "we all know the SEC team with the bigger name is better", bc they may not be. I am afraid the committee will choose the biggest name to help TV ratings over what teams earned on the field.
3 loss SEC teams are better than Indiana… you people can’t accept that the SEC is way deeper than the Big Ten. Indiana played against the 7 worst Big Ten teams and didn’t break a sweat cause the Big 10?12?14?16?18? Is top heavy asf
ND’s schedule is not as bad as it’s made out to be. They have wins over 4 ranked teams and 6 bowl eligible teams. Factor in how they are blowing everyone out and they should easily finish as the 5-6 seed
@ true but you gotta take into account that was only Leonard and Denbrock’s (the new OC) second ever game. Leonard also missed most of summer practice with injury so they were obviously going to start off slow. Just using the eye test they are easily a top 4 team in the country
Yes i agree actually, but 2 things. No sec fan has any respect for G5 teams, so 2 of those ranked wins don't even count in their mind. The other is they do the SOS based on where teams are now, not based on them where they were when they played. So they really don't count except in how they are perceived. That's why you want teams to do well after you beat them.
No they don’t 😂 they have 1 ranked win. You don’t count the ranked wins if they aren’t currently ranked 💀💀💀 Stop it. Army is falling out. Navy fell out. Louisville is out. ND has the TAMU win which just took a hit after they lost last night.
article is flat wrong about BYU and Colorado, they are only eliminated from controlling their destiny. If Iowa State and or Arizona State lose next week and BYU or Colorado win they are in.
In the Big 12 BYU gets in if either Iowa State or Arizona State loses. Colorado needs two of the other teams to lose in order to get in. Iowa State and Arizona State win and they are in.
dont count your chickens beforte they hatch....UNLV is going to be HIGHLY MOTIVATED after a close loss to BOISER ST a few weeks ago and BOISE ST's offensive line has been playing poorly lately. you want chaos.....if UNLV could beat BOISE ST. and then where are u at....could it be possible for both BOISE ST AND UNLV MAKING THE CFP. unlv has a win over KANSAS who beat BYU & COLORADO and is playing great ball atm.
you want chaos.........BOISE ST of course locks up their ticket with a close win against wyoming. BUT now the other ticket is now most likely going to UNLV for an exciting rematch of their earlier game. Giving where Boise St is in the CFP rankings and I know you don't want to hear this....IF #24 UNLV were to beat BOISE ST would there be a chance for both BOISE ST and UNLV make the CFP. given the fact KANSAS beat colorado and byu and UNLV beat KANSAS who is playing pretty good football atm.
I read a pretty crazy stat yesterday. If Georgia loses the SEC Championship game they have an 85% chance of making the playoffs. If they didn't make it to the SEC championship game at all they would've had a 99% chance of making the playoffs. Making it to the conference championship game gives them a worse chance of making it to the playoffs than not making it to the conference championship would. Pretty nuts. I still think they should scrap the conference championship games and just go ahead and expand the playoffs to 16 teams. That would be a much more fair way to handle it IMO.
Not to mention the risk of injury plus less time to rest and heal. Tennessee, a team they smashed, gets to sit home with a locked playoff spot and the bye that Georgia has to earn by winning the SEC against another top 3 opponent. This after UGA already had the number 1 SOS by far. System is broken.
I disagree. Georgia fans should be excited for that game. There is only a 15% chance that you miss the playoffs. I assume that comes in the scenario of A&M beating Texas and then Georgia. At that point Georgia would have lost to 3 9-3 teams. Coincidentally all 3 teams that just lost to bad SEC teams making the losses look much worse. On the other hand, if you win the SEC title game you would be the 2 seed in the playoffs and have a bye. You either have to play Texas (a team you crushed in Texas) or Texas A&M (A team who has 3 losses and no ranked wins yet). I like your chances
Notre Dame won in College Station. They have beaten 4 ranked teams. They have the #1 pass defense in the country. They will get further than you think my dude. lol
I think you are forgetting that UNLV is ranked currently, if Boise beats them again, that’s another quality win for Boise who is now ranked higher than the next B12 team by 3 spots, if Iowa state beats Arizona state then Iowa state would have to jump ahead like 8 spots in order to catch Boise even before the win against unlv
@ true, they would deserve it over any other G5 team, as a Boise fan that game does scare me, but it is on the blue which would make it difficult for UNLV
As a Bama fan, it's been such a confusing season. Beat Georgia, lose to Vanderbilt. Beat teams like LSU and Missouri no problem then randomly get destroyed by Oklahoma. Genuinely, there's absolutely no reason this team couldn't be undefeated this season, but there seems like they lack some needed consistently on offense to actually live up to that potential.
Deborer is in over his head. He believes you only have to show up to beat a 5 win team. Team was unprepared, and he made 0 adjustments. I expect the same against Auburn
As a Vols fan I do kinda feel bad for Bama fans. I mean wow...wtf happened to them yesterday?!! I never saw that coming. It really must be so confusing as a bama fan. Bama can look so good at moments and then absolutely atrocious the next. I never would've expected them to get absolutely dominated by Oklahoma. They made OK's rushing game look elite yesterday lol. All I can say is better luck next time. GBO!!!
I didn't learn much of anything from this video. Maybe someone should read the tie-breaker rules for the conferences before trying to make predictions.
Miami loses in the ACCG? Eliminated. 1-loss Indiana? Eliminated. 3-loss SEC teams? All eliminated. Apparently no team is good enough to make the playoffs except Ohio State/Georgia/Oregon/Texas/ND and conference champions. Never mind the fact that that's only 8 teams and 12 have to make it...
SOS can be a little misleading, it shouldn’t be ignored but also shouldn’t be the only thing that’s looked at. You can play a couple top teams and then play two of the worst fbs teams and end up with the same sos as a team that played 4 mid tier teams.
as a UNLV FAN...you want chaos.........BOISE ST of course locks up their ticket with a close win against wyoming. If more chaos unfolds next week, the playoff committee will have a hard on as they put multiple 3 loss SEC teams into playoffs.
