Another golden video. Love it. Please keep them up. One video suggestion I have is if you could do one on understanding the different positions and roles on the field. Being new to soccer, I, for example, still am trying to understand stuff like the difference between an inverted winger, inside forward, and attacking midfielder. It would be great to have a video that explained these positions, what type of skills are required to be good at them, and how to think about them. That would greatly aid new players develop an intuitive feel for the game. Thanks again for another awesome video.
@WorkTheSpace Training a player in a specific role only focuses on those attributes if the actual training schedule items you've selected in the Training Calendar states "Individual Roles" under the Attributes area of the Impacts section. If it doesn't state that, the attributes being training will specifically be whatever the training selected on the calendar states. The additional focus does train those attributes specifically as the players are doing extra work not listed on the training calendar focusing on that additional focus. As far as Tackling goes, yes you can train that attribute via the training schedule. Specifically under the Defending training calendar items and General Outfield.
this is a hell of a video. more useful tips in here than most fm channels. how the PA works with regards to spreading a player across multiple positions is a game changer for me. I've experimented with re-training positions and it works well if they're young, but to use these methods to enhance certain attributes. while not using them in those positions is a smart move.
Regarding starting early I recommend for people who don't want to do it for every1 in youth you can take control of the best players upcoming players only !!
I have started playing alot of freindlys in the season to give youngsters and reserve players game time. This helps as the u18 can play u23 games where as the u23 are playing at a higher level. Also good to get some money in. Be careful as your training days will drop but combining the two really helps.
So i want to set up training schedules myself instead of leaving it to the Man Asst ... I have watched some known FM You Tubers about it...different approaches...one puts them in postion training ... I think you put them in desired role training....another one swears by physical training.....what is your (or the best) approach to develop (young) players as good as possible with weekly training schedules? Perhaps an idea for another video?
Hi Jack really loving these guides could you please do one on scouting and youth intake my youth intake always gives me headaches. Another useful one might be a guide to staff recruitment and coaches in particular to supplement this video. Keep up the great work mate.
I do find it frustrating like in the mctominay case where you really need the marking to improve and they are unhappy with the focus. I normally take it off for a while, as the unhappiness really does stall their progress. But will experiment with just keeping it on to see if any further progression is noticed.
Just check one week lets say in feb if you only have PL games left then and check how many occasions McTs unit has had Marking as trained attribute since there are rather few slots where his individual roles comes into play If for ex the Tactical ones Marking is only trained 40% in Transistion Press for most of the other ones at Tactical only 20% Marking for def units For the Defending schedules the def units reach 60% Marking in most of them In total during the season when Marking is trained in a slot it’s often only at 40-60% but mostly perhaps on at 20%.....
What about tactical familiarity of the position/role/duty when you train them in roles you don't use in your tactic because you want them to focus on certain attributes?
Players do not have familiarity with role's only positions, if a player is natural in a position all that's left is to tailor him to the role you'll play him in
@@WorkTheSpace I meant about familiarity with the tactic you're using. Specifically on the right side in the players development screen there is that tactical familiarity window with the green bars and the last bar is position/role/duty.
@@tumppuman hi, I know this is late but yeah as Jack mentioned your tactic familiarity will increase over game time and also if you click on match preparation you can change your tactic/formation preference to focus on so you can gain full familiarity on that too
is training more important than match time for players that are below 20, i have some players now that are young but not really doing great in development, is that because i play them too much and they then dont get alot of time for training? i also tend to use training regimes called "total", "outplayers" and goalkeeping to not make the training too heavy and also to give the goalkeepers some progress. These 3 players had 5 star potential, now 1 of them are 4,5, the second one is 4 stars potential and the last one still 5. But i think i am doing something wrong. My players are always 100% ready to play and are rested, but i usually max out the training with 3 training activities each day, except for before and after match. help
If I train a left winger to also be able to play on the right wing, will that also limit his current ability since the important attributes are the same for both wings?
So many peopls record clip by FM so many dont undrestand FM ...te traimg is connent with indiviual traning..IT focus etc defender focus tacling but taem domt traning defending plsyer dont reach tackling..and it is logical
Great video Jack, thanks. Quick question - I went through my entire Fulham squad and set their position training, plus an additional focus on what I felt was their weakest attribute - but within a month or so all of the players were saying they were unhappy with training as they felt the additional focus wasn't producing any results - what's the best thing to do here? Persist with it or take them off it? I want to strike a balance between high morale and appropriate training but seem to be struggling.

For individual training , What position are they learning if position/role is On Default and you don’t pick a position? Nothing is highlighted on attributes if on default.
@@WorkTheSpace If You leave it for example AML Playing Position, he'll train basic attributes for an attacking midfielder, but not specific attributes for the role
@@TheTechguy40 That's not the case, it will train the role displayed under tactical familiarity on the development > training screen which is the role he last played in a match.
Great Video Jack thanks. Good to see how you work on player training, i get this now and will give it ago. I never dared take on overall team training though shape, tactics, etc any advise on this?
"there is no such thing as role and duty familiarity" - this is simply not true. If you don't put individual training to the prd he is playing he will not get any tactical prd familiarity. I have played a guy at TF all season and train him as CF, the result after 25 games: zero tactical prd familiarity.

Yes it's in fm20 too
Is there much point training old players?
Always, it can help them transition into positions or roles with less physical demands
I usually train old players in pace and acceleration because this is the main attribute they lose so I just try and reduce the amount of loss.
My players always complain about their individual training is not producing any result or it is not helpful. How do I fix that?

One question, how do you improve the intelligence of a Player to become a better Player?
The some areas you can focus on with addition focuses but a lot of players are born intelligent footballers or just aren't
Maybe train their Decisions, anticipation positioning things like that.
well tackling cant be focused individually. you cant be tackling all by yourself and expect that youd be better in tackling.
Man I know all this shit but I just put it on in the background as I play.

Depending on their versatility it'll take longer for them to gain tactical familiarity, players can take seasons to become comfortable with a role
