My name is Byf What is your reference for the theory of Rasputin controlling SIVA, and directly using it against the Iron Lords? Everything points to Rasputins motives being that SIVA be kept out of anyone's hands, his own included. Most of the info you presrent is in the Grimoire but this comes completely out of left field, and I can't find any supporting evidence.

Nathan Finnian said he would not being doing any more destiny VOs. So, don't expect Cayde to come back anytime. That said, I miss Dinklebot. I was glad to hear my theories on the EXOs confirmed. Something had to separate them from the common droids walking around, similar to ghost in the shell. There's also a movie on Netflix that goes into this that's really good. Pretty much could call it the history of the EXOs, called The Beyond. Worth a watch.
As someone who never truly knew what the hell was really going on in the story. THIS WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! I found myself many times with a big smile on my face as you made me relive some incredibly epic moments and memories that I made with my friends and fellow guardians. Even though this is a 3 year old video I can’t wait to listen to the next one and all of your other content. This gave me chills more than once man. Awesome job on the lore!!!

Been playing this game since launch and the Lore is insane. I think as fellow supporters we all need to start a petition to get Byf a job at Bungie. I dunno about that. I've been watching with the CC playing, and there are tons of little mistakes that would only be there if they were automated. Mostly spelling, and misplaced punctuation.

I assume the extra bits of lore will be fashioned into an extended universe by offically recognized writers, much like how Bungie lisenced out Halo for many writers to play with while still holding the canon firmly. It's only a matter of time.
...I know that this is science fantasy and all, from Bungie... And I'm sure that this isn't a mistake of Byf's, but it's bugging me so much... PLASMA is the fourth state of matter, where ELECTRONS not data specifically is free of form. It's an energetic state above gas where the atoms are too excited to retain atomic bonds. And the idea of a state of matter where information is free of form, of matter, is ludicrous, not because it's science fantasy, but because information is a real way of looking at ALL matter in our world. Information is, as the etymology of the word would tell you, simply the human way of inferring the characteristics of a certain focus's state of existence. PHOTONS are information, titanium is information. The only way to make Engram a viable "State of matter" is to make it 4th dimensional, which, while cool, is a whole can of worms unto itself. Bear in mind, I'm not complaining because I dislike it, I love the Destiny story. But the scientist in me is cringing so hard right now ^_^;
As someone who’s now put in 80 hours into Destiny 2, I’m so thankful for this additional information. I love good and deep lore and this was really useful.
So much effort was put into this video, and I enjoyed every second of it, I had to watch it over a week but it was worth it, as a destiny fan it's awesome to see, especially you byf, to make a full, in depth, lore video
Destiny's lore is so well-written and thought out, it's unfortunate that Bungie's had such a hard time conveying that in-game. Here's hoping Destiny 2's DLCs give us some more insight into the Destiny Universe. I'm in love with Bungie's vision. Just not so much their execution.
This has been the problem all along for me. I love the gameplay, but ever since day 1 with Destiny on Xbox 360, I have been grumbling about the lack of story, or the lack of cohesion in their story at least. Then I found this channel, and it's so much more complex and detailed than I ever gave it credit for. Sadly when you play the game, there's really not much that tells us most of this information. I get that I could read all the lore tabs or in the old days the Grimoire, but when I don't have any motivation to do so because usually I'm playing with friends and don't want to waste their time either. At this point I'm just like "Whatever, kill things, get powerful engrams, and run raids." I hope maybe we get some of this in the gameplay someday. Wonderful Video and Channel Byf, if it was not for this channel I still would just be like "You know what, I don't even care who the stranger was." I have a little more respect for the game and the writers at bungie thanks to you. just wish they could make this appear in game some, so that some of these gold named enemies become relevant and not just "big ass ogre with a name, number 634"
You know, around 1:26:00 i almost teared. After all the Destiny 1 stuff ended, leading into the D2 trailer. The urgency of the music, cayde's confusion, Ikora's fear and Zavala's contemplation, ultimately leading to his cry for battle stations. We've come a long way. To others not familiar, there's way cooler lore for you to dig into, as Byf Mentioned. The Last Word + Thorn saga is my favorite (including what was made known after), but look into all of it as they were written so beautifully.
Matthew Haun Yea he did fantastic considering how horrible and mundane the story actually was in D1. Cant critize D2 much though, the snipets we've seen look fantastic
What I've never gotten is that hundreds of guardians couldn't kill Crota outside of his dimension yet only six were able to kill him despite being in his own dimension where he is most powerful

I was looking into playing D2 since it’s now free and like most things, I like to know the story and lore that came before it instead of going in blindly....this video was a massive help and made me understand more at just how much impressive lore that Destiny has and can’t wait to start playing D2 even more

Shine a light on a sphere and rotate it at 365° per day that's how fast the earth is rotating. You can observe how the top of the sphere is never reappy in the dark, and the equator of the sphere is in the dark for the longest period. A flat Earth can't have this happen because it would mean no location on Earth would be truly dark. The way light travels in atmosphere and reflects with clouds would mean you could almost always see light from the sun at all hours.

Drew McAdam The Hive are tied into the darkness. Bungie didn't even know what The Darkness was at D1 launch and as a writer, I can honestly relate to that. From what I understand / can gather, The Darkness is your typical "essence of evil" type entity, but with D2 and its expansions they're revisiting and refurbishing that aspect.
All of this is in the game. Litterly all the events we play is spoken about in this video. I'm sorry, but your poor attempt to shame destiny about its "lack of story telling" is is a load of cuntjuice.
It is in the game, just a good portion of the deeper stuff is in item lore pages and whatnot. Also, the characters very frequently discuss their motivations and reasons but It often happens as voice overs during gameplay, which can get drowned out in the middle of an intense fight. It could definitely be delivered better but overall D2 did a much better job at this.
Its 2019 I miss this game so much. I have laid in bed and literally felt an ache in my chest just thinking about it. Some people may think that is pathetic, or that I'm weird for it, but I know I'm not the only one. No matter what your real life was like, all you had to do was boot up this game, and suddenly you were free. You could feel a sense of accomplishment, you set goals, you achieved them, you felt as though you were putting in work and reaping the rewards. You had friends, that no matter what, would make you have a good time before the night was over. The friends that have now logged off forever. The part that hurts the worst, is that those days will never come back. You know what days I'm talking about. The days where nothing else mattered except for raids, trials, and strikes. Where you felt your confidence and personality grow. Where you discovered new things and people, and could escape from the real world. If you have a way to, reach out to your old gaming friends. Ask them how they're doing in life, and if they too remember the days of Destiny.
You honestly nailed how I see Destiny. So many exciting moments shared with friends and family that I played with. Now years later, I stopped playing with alot of those friends, jobs changed...life went on and got harder, and yet Destiny still continues to give me that environment that I can just let lose and always find something to do.

Small Loan of a Million Dollars i am friends til this day with people from destiny 1. I remember coming home from long day at work ready to unwind and being “free” as you said. destiny was my escape but not anymore. Ill give destiny 3 a chance but nothing had come close to capturing my attention like destiny once did. its a truly sad time in gaming.

Too much stuff for a movie. The events leading up to a raid like the VoG alone could be a movie. Perhaps it could be a franchise of movies, but I think there's definitely enough there to warrant a TV show. The effects could get expensive though.

I don’t get it-if Rasputin stopped the traveler from leaving earth during the collapse, to save humanity, why would he command SIVA to kill the iron lords? Why not command SIVA to help bring humanity back to a golden age era?
Rasputin did that because he knew SIVA was an extremely powerful biomechanical technology (like nukes we have today in comparison of power). The Iron Lords wanted to gain access to SIVA to end the apocalypse/post-apocalypse and restore humanity to the Golden Age, but by doing that, SIVA could had fallen into wrong hands. They could end up opening a loophole for the Darkness beings to invade and take SIVA, and that would be the end for every living being on Earth. That's why Rasputin activated automated defense systems to take the Irons Lords out of action.
It's easy to understand if you played the rise of iron DLC, simply put like the guys above stated. in the wrong hands SIVA could have ended our universe. The fallen being a great example.
Rasputin didnt stop the traveler from leaving. Byf says that it was speculated the traveler stopped because it was looking for the right "patch of ground" to do battle with the darkness. Rasputin may have known this which is why he did nothing.

I was glad to hear my theories on the EXOs confirmed. Something had to separate them from the common droids walking around, similar to ghost in the shell. There's also a movie on Netflix that goes into this that's really good. Pretty much could call it the history of the EXOs, called The Beyond. Worth a watch.

...I know that this is science fantasy and all, from Bungie... And I'm sure that this isn't a mistake of Byf's, but it's bugging me so much... PLASMA is the fourth state of matter, where ELECTRONS not data specifically is free of form. It's an energetic state above gas where the atoms are too excited to retain atomic bonds.
And the idea of a state of matter where information is free of form, of matter, is ludicrous, not because it's science fantasy, but because information is a real way of looking at ALL matter in our world. Information is, as the etymology of the word would tell you, simply the human way of inferring the characteristics of a certain focus's state of existence. PHOTONS are information, titanium is information. The only way to make Engram a viable "State of matter" is to make it 4th dimensional, which, while cool, is a whole can of worms unto itself.

Destiny's lore is so well-written and thought out, it's unfortunate that Bungie's had such a hard time conveying that in-game.
Here's hoping Destiny 2's DLCs give us some more insight into the Destiny Universe. I'm in love with Bungie's vision. Just not so much their execution.
This has been the problem all along for me. I love the gameplay, but ever since day 1 with Destiny on Xbox 360, I have been grumbling about the lack of story, or the lack of cohesion in their story at least. Then I found this channel, and it's so much more complex and detailed than I ever gave it credit for. Sadly when you play the game, there's really not much that tells us most of this information. I get that I could read all the lore tabs or in the old days the Grimoire, but when I don't have any motivation to do so because usually I'm playing with friends and don't want to waste their time either. At this point I'm just like "Whatever, kill things, get powerful engrams, and run raids." I hope maybe we get some of this in the gameplay someday.
Wonderful Video and Channel Byf, if it was not for this channel I still would just be like "You know what, I don't even care who the stranger was." I have a little more respect for the game and the writers at bungie thanks to you. just wish they could make this appear in game some, so that some of these gold named enemies become relevant and not just "big ass ogre with a name, number 634"

To others not familiar, there's way cooler lore for you to dig into, as Byf Mentioned. The Last Word + Thorn saga is my favorite (including what was made known after), but look into all of it as they were written so beautifully.

The reason parts of the Earth get more light then others is just how spheres work. Shine a light on a sphere and rotate it at 365° per day that's how fast the earth is rotating. You can observe how the top of the sphere is never reappy in the dark, and the equator of the sphere is in the dark for the longest period.
A flat Earth can't have this happen because it would mean no location on Earth would be truly dark. The way light travels in atmosphere and reflects with clouds would mean you could almost always see light from the sun at all hours.

Drew McAdam The Hive are tied into the darkness. Bungie didn't even know what The Darkness was at D1 launch and as a writer, I can honestly relate to that. From what I understand / can gather, The Darkness is your typical "essence of evil" type entity, but with D2 and its expansions they're revisiting and refurbishing that aspect.

All of this is in the game. Litterly all the events we play is spoken about in this video. I'm sorry, but your poor attempt to shame destiny about its "lack of story telling" is is a load of cuntjuice.
It is in the game, just a good portion of the deeper stuff is in item lore pages and whatnot. Also, the characters very frequently discuss their motivations and reasons but It often happens as voice overs during gameplay, which can get drowned out in the middle of an intense fight. It could definitely be delivered better but overall D2 did a much better job at this.

I miss this game so much. I have laid in bed and literally felt an ache in my chest just thinking about it. Some people may think that is pathetic, or that I'm weird for it, but I know I'm not the only one. No matter what your real life was like, all you had to do was boot up this game, and suddenly you were free. You could feel a sense of accomplishment, you set goals, you achieved them, you felt as though you were putting in work and reaping the rewards. You had friends, that no matter what, would make you have a good time before the night was over. The friends that have now logged off forever. The part that hurts the worst, is that those days will never come back. You know what days I'm talking about. The days where nothing else mattered except for raids, trials, and strikes. Where you felt your confidence and personality grow. Where you discovered new things and people, and could escape from the real world. If you have a way to, reach out to your old gaming friends. Ask them how they're doing in life, and if they too remember the days of Destiny.
You honestly nailed how I see Destiny. So many exciting moments shared with friends and family that I played with. Now years later, I stopped playing with alot of those friends, jobs changed...life went on and got harder, and yet Destiny still continues to give me that environment that I can just let lose and always find something to do.
I agree with this so strongly this is exactly what it was like, i still play destiny 1 sometimes because destiny 2 isn't have as fun as destiny 1 was.

I don’t get it-if Rasputin stopped the traveler from leaving earth during the collapse, to save humanity, why would he command SIVA to kill the iron lords? Why not command SIVA to help bring humanity back to a golden age era?
Because he most likely wants privacy when three advanced alien empires are invading.
Rasputin did that because he knew SIVA was an extremely powerful biomechanical technology (like nukes we have today in comparison of power).
The Iron Lords wanted to gain access to SIVA to end the apocalypse/post-apocalypse and restore humanity to the Golden Age, but by doing that, SIVA could had fallen into wrong hands.

Rasputin didnt stop the traveler from leaving. Byf says that it was speculated the traveler stopped because it was looking for the right "patch of ground" to do battle with the darkness. Rasputin may have known this which is why he did nothing.
