They talked about fate dice moving to a detachment and battle focus coming back in the big reveal video where they showed off new minis and the accompanying article about the upcoming codex
If this detachment would have removed the FLY keyword, it could apply to some really great options, like the War Walker or Support Weapons, which just have the VEHICLE keyword
Yeah, the "insert dice here" mechanic was not well thought out. In a game where random chance weighs very heavily, getting to just make things happen when it's important is a giant among mortals.
Nobody will play this. All eldar units are pointed to where all units get reroll hits and wounds. Nobody is gonna lose rerolls to hit and wound on all their units just to gain a couple inches on a handful of units
This is a good detatchment, battlehost is busted. When the codex is out I hope battlehost is toned down so that other detatchment are playable and eldar can get a few points cuts
@riccardocopelli120 They are gonna tone down battlehost, but not drop points at first. And the army is going to get so much worse from losing the rerolls but they will only drop points slowly every MFM. By the time they are pointed appropriately the edition will be over
As a long time Eldar palyer I can only see the Aeldari detachment being used in one way. Super heavies all benefit from these rules as well. Cobras and Scorpions would love a redeployment and +1 to hit from the enhancements. Also tough enough that the tech priest farseer could actually have an impact healing. Don't think it makes them or the detachment any sort of good, but maybe playable outside of the competitive scene.
@holdenchambers3986 ah almost certainly doomed to legends then. Well better try and get some games in with my Cobra before it is forcibly retired with only 1 mega battle under its belt
God help us if the Codex is such a nerf that it makes this detachment decent. I've gotta figure it was designed with the new Codex in mind and oof, I'm now nervous.
In the reveal stream they said fate dice are moving to a psyker focused detachment and the faction rule is going to be battle focus. Surprised you guys don't know this...
Many of them being at the WCW playing days of warhammer at the pro level when that info was announced (mid round) would easily explain why they missed that compared to people sitting at home only watching the preview show
It also hasnt released yet, so why create a value judgement off it without knowing new army rules, or when we dont even know when the new rules release?
@@SeanHoltzman Not sure the point of this comment. They don't need to give a value judgment based on new codex rules. I didn't ask them to. Just stating it was confirmed that fate dice are going to a detachment and battle focus will be the faction rule and was surprised they didn't know this when they brought it up.
I won’t taking this even if we DO lose the battle host in the new codex. Between the other seven detachments, I’m assuming we’re going to have something better. If we don’t, I’ll be playing another army. Either way, I won’t be playing this detachment. I appreciate GW for trying I guess.
Getting a movement army ability replacing fate dice makes this detachment even worse no matter which way you look at it. Even if BF is move shoot move, you'll still take literally any increased damage over this.
"Hey Mom, can we have Starshatter Arsenal?"
"No we have Starshatter Arsenal at home."
It’s the thousand son problem - Eldar has one broken-level, detachment defined army for the edition.

So hear me out…. With the Codex having 8 detachments, all the good ideas were taken. Don’t sweat it too much.
Hope I'm wrong but the "get CP on 3+" enhancement makes me suspect Autarch might be losing the CP gain the in the codex.
@@JacobSeraph Had that same thought. That would be such a bummer.
@@JacobSeraph wouldn’t be surprised if that moved to a detachment specific enhancement
eh not sure. canoptek court has cp gen enhancement even though imotekh exists

Especially since no one wants to be moving their fly vehicles up the board.
DOoom
Idc looks fun, Eldar have had one detachment since June 24', I'm playing this at an RTT because it's still toy soldiers at the end of the day.
Thanks Nick and Quinton
If wave serpents had two heavy weapons and not twin linked that would work alot as its a fly vehicle with an invul that could survive possibly to heal

@riccardocopelli120 that is hopeful thinking but sadly this is GW were talking about. So far their track record is not good...at all

Remember fate dice will no longer be the army ability once the codex comes out so battle host is already facing a big nerf.
@@riccardocopelli120 our vehicles are already 14” move. We didn’t need advances 😭
I swear if I have to hear about the army painter one more time this month 😂
They let the Custodes Codex writer out again....

All the people crying "garbage" like thier getting the same battle host rules when thier book comes out 😂
@@GaryP336 even in isolation, this is a pretty poor detachment.
I'm so sick of 40k players calling anything that isn't the best garbage, as if the guy who won worlds didn't use "Mid AF Custodes"

absolute garbage
Why would you take this detachment when you have battle host? This is simply bad.
Because you won’t in a few months.

What a garbage detachment.
As an eldar player I've never once wanted to spam vehicles so I'm going to pass on this detachment.
