FYI: 3/16" = 4.7625mm Please chose inch or mm when comparing so you are doing an apples-to-apples comparison. The blades are effectively the same thickness.
I am really pleased with the direction Cold Steel has taken with the Warcraft Tanto, which I understand is the first knife to be released in their "Warcraft Series". Looking forward to more of this series in the near future ;)
I haven't had that problem with my SRK, but I always make sure to push the spine into the sheath firmly when I draw or sheath it. Kydex sheaths would be a luxury, but would probably bring the prices up. That being said, an optional kydex sheath for would be nice.
Kunta Kinte because there are glass fibers impregnated in the plastic. The fibers have a hardness greater than the steel therefore damaging the edge. It wont completely blunt it but you can go from hair popping sharp to barely able to slice paper after one in and out where you didnt place the spine of the knife against the sheath upon insertion
I have 3 Recon Tanto in CarbonV but, while it is an excellent combat knife( a real combat knife not a mall ninja knife as the vast majority), the WC Tanto is on another planet maybe another galaxy. Steel is better, handle is much better, shape is similar but better, it is more manouvrable for rapid change of hand and position. I consider it an " istant classic"!!!
Oso Grande a 1095 carbon steel kabar tanto version 1245 can cut very deeper & hold a very long cutting edge & cut deeper than stainless steel cold steel recon tanto, its the strongest military hand knife to own in my opinion,it last a lifetime & is more wicked than stainless steel, you still got a nice knife collection though, stainless steel is good but its not as stiff as 1095 carbon steel.
When giving the blade thickness, give them both in the same format ie, both in tenths of an inch or both in millimetres. Because by saying one's 3 tenths and one's 5 mil doesn't give us any perspective - I'm gonna have to get my rule out now and physically check which is thicker. Just sayin'
3 16ths of an inch is 5mm, so the thickness is the same. Thanks for great vid. awesome knives, will get the san mai version of the recon tanto or the warcraft.
cohenfitness Nothing shady about it, we chose to review them because they are both tactical style tanto knives made by Cold Steel and close to the same size. We thought our viewers may find the info useful but as in your case, we can't please everyone. Thanks for watching and your comments.
The Warcraft costs approximately 10x more than the Recon. At least right now it does. I don't see any reason to pay that crazy cost when the Recon is an awesome blade
How does it suck? Because it doesn't look good? That is a crap reason. It is not made for looks as the primary reason, it is designed as a HANDLE, it should feel good in the hand and be durable.
Oso Grande I personally don't like the new Warcraft handle because of how much it locks your hand in a single position. It might be better for swinging as hard as you can in a chopping motion, but I find what I consider "neutral handles" like on the Recon to be much more comfortable during prolonged use as you can shift your hand grip around. Finger grooves also drastically affect the comfort of using the knife with a blade-in grip. I would've preferred to see the old design simply updated with 3V and G-10 scales.
Sorry to say but the Recon Tanto is made with AUS8 stainless steel. Although D2 is better (a tool steel) Cold Steel does not use it. D2 is more expensive than AUS8 so they most likely are lying about the steel which is something I wouldn't put past criminals who counterfeit knives.

Hey Cold Steel put the Warcraft Handles on the SRK and the Hunter! That would be lit!
Thanks for the comparison. I was wondering how they compared after I seen the Warcraft in a recent Special Projects catalog.

I have the Recon Tanto in 3steel types, Thanx for informing me on the new model, its really great to see C.S. make such a beautiful knife.
Dude, don't read one knifes specs in Metric and the other in Standard.
The secure-ex sheaths need to go away. The glass reinforced nylon can ruin a sharp edge in a heartbeat.
Killer I agree with you. The new kydex sheath I bought for my 1997 recon tanto seems to be dulling the blade in some parts of the edge.

VireDragon Cleveland kydex makes affordable sheaths for most knives and they only cost $30
Well spoken.

There's one in my hand right now, definitely an instant classic.
For that price you can be sure that it will be a counterfeit Recon Tanto, unless it is used. See coldsteel(dot)com for info on counterfeits.

I think next year CS will release a bowie version of the Warcraft and I will buy 2 or 3 of them
I like the Warcraft tanto better because of the curved handle. and the tip is thicker.
they spoke highly of the knife and being made of D2 steel with a nice modern plastic sheath ?

Or 3 16ths of an inch should I have said? See? I'm confused.

Thanks for watching and your support! Stay sharp my friend!
Oso Grande Thank you. Will do and you keep up the good work and them vids coming!
Also the WC tanto doesn't have a choil, since a choil is at (or distal of) the ricasso. peace, -yogi
War= $144 Recon =$50 :O
Why would you compare the san mai verison of the recon tanto?? This is a shady review

Cold Steel does not make a San Mai steel version of the Recon Tanto.
Ok thank you for your interest :)

The Warcraft looks dope! But I prefer the recon
Just order my recon tanto from China for $19.99 on special offer deal :) goood vid !
Recon for the win!!
The handle on the Warcraft sucks. It doesn't look good on tanto type blades.
How does it suck? Because it doesn't look good? That is a crap reason. It is not made for looks as the primary reason, it is designed as a HANDLE, it should feel good in the hand and be durable.
I second Random Guys comment. The handle is very ergonomic and it feels great in the hand.

100eyes i really don't think you'll ever have time to switch grip in a knife fight.
Paul Mathieu I never mentioned knife fighting, I was referring to normal use.
I WANT WARCRAFT IN 9" AND 7MM THICK.
WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

Warcraft bowie knife would be cool
Warcraft tanto.
Cant stand the way he breathes and smacks his lips. Annoying 😑
