FYI Matt, the sheath is made of thermoplastic. It was formed with heat and by using a heat gun or blow dryer to warm the area you want to mold you can easily make it tighter without the knife in it. I've done that myself on several sheaths.

I love it aside from the super cool lettering on the blade.

As far as the sheath is concerned, slowly warm it up with a heat gun, put the knife in and then press it between to sheets of firm foam. A little ghetto but thats how a lot of people were making kydex holsters and sheaths. Good review, saw one at a local outfitter. Might have to get one now, I've had the AUS10 Spartan for 4 years now and it is definite hard use knife.

I've tried that. The issue seems to be with the contouring of the indent. It is either too aggressive, or not aggressive enough. The heat gun thing does work a bit, but just not quite the way I'd like. Thank though!

Everyone should save for 2 COLD STEEL blades, the SRK in CPM 3v and the magnum tanto XII in 3v. The non-war craft tanto have a different grind, hollow ground and the tanto tip is stronger than the warcraft. I do like the G10 handles but the the blades are hard to beat

I really like tanto style for work knives. My SR1 Lite is great in this regard. Cold Steel misses the mark a little bit at times but not often with folders. (I don't think their 4Max Scout is as good as people often say.) But generally their folders are the way to go for me, they a just the best tools I can rely on when it really matters. Their fixed blades seem to have more competition, there are many good (or better?) alternatives on the market.

I have both the Italian-made CPM-20CV 4Max and the AUS10 4Max Scout - and the 4Max Scout is most certainly "as good as people say."

4max scout is fine it's just ugly AF and doesn't even come with a sharp tip lol

Finger grooves help you get better slash. Try locking your index and middle fingers in the grooves and clenching the rest of your fingers loosely,Then bottle-slashing or slashing at any target.
And you can made sheath locking tighter by use hairdryer heated around locking area and press it for few minutes,I did it with my 3V Mini Pendleton's sheath also.

Made for Cold Steel by Lion Steel. Great Quality knife maker. I have a Dendra Inazuma that is Niolox HRC 60 beautiful. The Italians are high value. Fox and Lion Steel do a great job with fine attention to detail in jimping, chamferring, grind, austenitic and martensitic manufacturing.

The warcraft tanto will chop and split wood better, thus better for camp craft.

Warcart is a Beast in 5.5" or 7" or 12" it's purely a monster mash blade and Cold Steel made.
What more can a person ask for €.

Italians have the heat treating process down pat with most steels. Plus there fit and finish is as good as any knife makers.

Do you know what the worst part of Cold Steel knives is? The friggin' model logo. Always a bit over the top, and huge. Some of the names can be pretty silly too, which is totally forgivable, but it sucks to be reminded every time you go to use it. That said, I am right there with you,. I absolutely love Cold Steeel knives, and I own more of them than any other brand. The day Lynn Thompson announced that he had sold the company, I literally became depressed. It felt like my pet died. I am grateful that they are still producing the classic catalog, but I have heard mixed reviews about the QC on some of the mid-higher end folders like the Recon 1, and Bush Ranger. I am also a bit disappointed with some of the material choices, and the pricing seems to be getting looser slowly but surely. only time will tell, but man...I miss Lynn being in charge.

    • @CNYKnifeNerd

That's what I will never understand about knives like this.
CPM3V exists purely so the damn thing doesn't need to be 5mm to be strong. If thyre gonna make it that thick, why not just use 154cm or Elmax and still get adequate toughness but better edge retention plus stainlessness.
Not that logic is used at all when it comes to steel choice in 90% of production knives (maker or consumer)

    • @mariaconcepcionrodriguezhe2850
      @mariaconcepcionrodriguezhe2850 Год назад

This knife would see a 800% increase in preformance if it were 3mm thick stock. Except in batoning knotty wood.

    great lil review!
    I love this knife & the AK~47!
I had the AK~47 on order for months before covid shut down. i figured it wouldn't come out & be dropped, but they got `er done!
Once i got the AK~ i searched for another Italian made & found the meduim warcraft. I love warcraft more than AK~47 but both are beast!
Beware on new Warcraft! it looks cheap.... the only thing that looks better on new model is the Jimping for thumb to rest on!
The Buck GCK is very similar in spec~ weight, length, thickness & price... if still available & Made in USA!
