Its $90 at my local outdoor store. It comes in 3v. I'd buy it just to use it as my steak knife. You can't really go wrong with 3v.

I highly recommend this knife. It's good steel and US rated unlike alot of their cheaper crap. If you know how to sharpen it can be EXTREMELY dangerously sharp. Fits perfectly in my hand and opens easily. It's been very handy only having to use 1 hand to open wile working around my campsite. I don't trust the blade for prying and I'm sure I could do better by not buying in this price range at all from Gerber, unless were talking tools like the bolo machete or gator. But I'm definitely not disappointed in this quality for under $40. If anyone has a better suggestion than "buy your knives from flea markets, yard sales, and pawnshops", as knives don't deppreciate as much as their a resale value does. ✌️❤️🖖

Your warning came 41 years too late! Of course there wasn't any RUclips back then. Or an internet. Or even a MILNET. You're right. It was way too pretty to pass up. 425M steel and the leather sheath has stacked welts sewn on both sides with a couple rivets. Not a taco sheath but otherwise very similar. It's actually a little heavier than the average knife for it's length. A bunch of my knives around this length are more like 7 ounces. That's probably because of the somewhat thick, heavy phenolic handle. The blade does have a lot of weight trimming with the aggressive hollow grind, clip point cut out, high saber design and the short fullers. The handle fits me okay, but if I was to use it in bad weather much, I would texturize most of the handle with a dremel and slightly decrease the size at the top where it is a little too thick.

I find the handle quite comfortable, but I agree that stabilized wood would look and feel better. I really love mine, which I've had for many years, and I think the 420HC steel as treated by Paul Bos is a lot of fun to easily put a screaming sharp edge on without removing much or any metal.

It’s a shame it’s a hollow grind. The lines are beautiful. They seem to break easily though so I just got the generic Harbor Freight one for $25 and I think it might actually be better steel. The one you’re showing here is 420HC Stainless and the generic is 7Cr17MoV. This is pretty much Greek to me but in the comparison videos I’ve seen they seem to perform the same. I love the sheath

SOME OF THE ESEE KNIVES ARE QUITE GOOD, BUT, THEY ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FOR 1095 CS. I WOULD SAY THAT THIS IS NOT A LARGE KNIFE, BUT A MACHETE. I WOULD PREFER A MACHETE, INSTEAD OF A LARGE KNIFE, SUCH AS : CONDOR AUSTRALIAN MACHETE CONDOR BUSHCRAFT MACHETE CONDOR LARGE KUKRI CONDOR MINI DUKU PARANG TERRAVA SCRAMA 240 RINALDI MACHETE MY PARANG DUKU SHANDONG MY PARANG GOLOK MARTINDALE GOLOK BRITTISH ARMY MACHETE FROM ESEE I LIKE : ESEE 4HM ESEE RB3 ESEE CR 2.5 ESEE ASHLEY ESEE DARIEN MACHETE NICE VIDEO.

If you put the sheath bolts 1 hole up towards the handle that should fix that weak retention, did the same on the srk-c and can wear it upside down all day, not coming out

You should always hold them up to a ruler for the handle, The cutting edge from the tip and the tip to the handle because cops measure it to the handle for jurisdictions that have length laws.

This knife is like the shrade. The knife is made for hard work. Alot cheaper then a old shrade. The old shrades had a issue with the tips braking alot. You may notice 2nd hand knifes in shrade missing there tips on the blade. So as steel will go time will only tell. I have just brought a cold steel. Should sharpen well. I'm older hunter and collector. Cold steel has always had a good reputation. I have small flippers.so this knife is built well. As for holders of pocket knifes you must remember it is to be on your person first.. Yes it will be loose if the knife and holster is not fitted on you. It's designed to be on your hip..person..young people make me laugh. So it's a great knife I think for a bad time.and hi cost..in the world..think it will turn out a collector's peace as well
