The way everyone clears out of the way at 1:35 is like they're all completely aware that Ned is saving his biggest insult for Homer and no one wants to get hit by the fallout.
To be fair to Flanders, he reached his rage breaking point a lot later than most of us would have. Me personally, I'd have been yelling the moment the looters got to my store.
Tbh, I was about to cry when Ned went up to Homer and said "You are the worst human being ". The fact that Homer mistreats him, hasn't done anything to thank Ned, doesn't care about others but only himself, and never once stopped to think what he has done is just awful
@@tizyman7120 I mean Homer has always been pretty selfish. He very rarely helps others, and when he does it’s almost always in a way that benefits him, or is something he’s obligated to do as a father/worker. Honestly Homer is genuinely one of the worst animated protagonists ever.
This made me appreciate flanders a lot more, without this I think it's pretty fair to ask yourself if flanders is really nice or just stupid, but this shows he really just has an amazing level of self control at all times
The way he's positioned reminds me of that Patton Oswalt thing in Kings and Queens where he just stood frozen in one position for an entire scene that goes on for maybe 5 minutes and no one questioned it.
HenZoid, don't sue from your perspective. It wasn't possible for me and quite big part of world to see Simpsons before Internet, torrents and streaming video.
I like how he blows up on everyone and drives immediately to the mental hospital. You might see that as a gag, like "haha, the nice guy broke character so he must be crazy." It shows that he's so angry he knows he'll do something worse, and he is so good-hearted that he pre-emptively gets help before allowing that to happen. I know when I've done something rash and stupid out of anger, there have been times where that little voice in the back of my head says "uh-oh, better dial it back" but the one behind the wheel says "nah, fuck that. They've got it coming." Even Ned's anger is good-natured. That is some outstanding and deep writing!
This is something Seth McFarlane just doesn't get - a character has to stay consistent, he can't break out of character EXCEPT under extreme circumstances when he's really pushed to the limits like this, otherwise it isn't funny.
E.N.C 2000 None of his characters have any consistency. He'll have them be total dimwits one moment then have them saying something witty and insightful the next, those two included.
I love the facial expressions of the crowd. At first, their angry at Flanders for shouting these horrible things to them. They put so much effort into building him a new home, and this is the thanks they get? But after a while, those angry expressions slowly become ones of concern. In all the time they've known him, they've never seen Flanders like this, and their concerned for his well being and health.
And a subtle moment was Wiggum laughing at Lisa and Ned went off on him as a result. Ned still is compassionate enough to care. Anyhow, this goes to show bottling up anger is unhealthy.
@@localjoke_ Lovejoy yeah, but Ned just brought out all of their ugly insecurities, I don't recall him ever really treating people badly. That being said I'm not an avid watcher so maybe I've missed plenty along the way.

@@deezy81 That, or he knew that if he butted in, Ned would've probably done way more than call him the worst. I mean, he was causing misfortune to the guy for so long.
I think that was just a narrative choice, otherwise there would have been no transition and it would have just been Ned going around like a meany, insulting everyone without an apparent reason. Them saying something prompted him to shout at them, mostly because they said something
I love how Ned must have always felt this way but kept it down because he kept himself in control and saw the good in people. This incident just ticked him off so much that he couldn’t take it no more.
This episode is a classic! I love when Ned's angry and just starts saying a string on nonsense. And my favorite part is when Ned says to homer in a shaky low voice "Homer, You are the worst human being i have ever met". And Homer thinks that he got off easy xD!
This goes to show how bad it is to suppress negativity for such a sustained period of time. Such suppression of emotion is like a ticking time bomb, the more it gets suppressed over time, the bigger the eventual explosion of emotion once it bursts its banks. Up to this point, Ned Flanders was treated like a sucker, never showing anger towards anybody, but with this, he has a massive meltdown and not only humiliates himself but shocks everyone he knows. It's an insightful episode on mental health I feel
It's kinda self righteous they had to be the ones to build the house, not just contract a business or company to do it with money they all pool together.
Finn Cullin OH SORRY DUUUUUUDE! WOULDNT WANT YOU TO HAVE A COW MAAAAN! WELL HERES A PHRASE YOU BETTER LEARN FOR YOUR ADULT YEARS ; “HEY BUDDY, *GOT A QUARTER?!!?!* “
He kinda did, tbh. Ned got rather creatively brutal with the others--heck, poor Lenny didn't even _do_ anything and he still yelled at the guy. With Homer, he was mostly just telling it like it is (or rather, how he saw it).
Norman Waterman no, that’s the best thing about simpsons. Simple words can still be devastating without the physical comedy. Homer being told by a practical saint that they are the worst person they ever met is pretty shit. Homer is just a bit too slow to grasp why it was terrible. Like mother Theresa coming up to you in a fit of rage and telling you that you are the worst human being ever after seeing some pretty shit ppl in her lifetime
Consider Ned didn't yell what he said in a way Homer kind of did. You could say the meanest thing but if delievred passive aggressively instead of raging anger then in a way yes he got off easy.

@Viktor Reznov Bruh The fact that you can’t recall anything wrong or annoying Ned did shows how much you actually pay attention to show, which is little to none and you can’t even back up your arguments, but I can. I say watch every scene he shows up in because I can’t recall every single episode name where he did something stupid! One of my best examples of Ned being a meddling, annoying, pious prick is Ned calling “witchcraft adversary” on Lisa innocently playing in her room, you idiot. There is another one where Homer and Marge was having sex as husband and wife, and he took it upon himself for some reason or another to call the police on them just because they were having sex. Through small scenes in the series even shows that he’s homophobic and more so he don’t even respect other people’s religious freedom. One of the biggest things is when he shoves religion down other people throat by forcing Principle Skinner to replace every class with it in Lisa’s school all because one museum display threatened his close minded and bland views of his religion he obsesses over.
I feel sorry for Ned Flanders at this point, I did shred a tear when he lost his wife and how he was treated, he tried being good to his family and be nice to the neighbours, Homer did do things to him that were so uncalled for

HenZoid, don't sue from your perspective. It wasn't possible for me and quite big part of world to see Simpsons before Internet, torrents and streaming video.
Years? This episode aired in 1996.
I like how he blows up on everyone and drives immediately to the mental hospital. You might see that as a gag, like "haha, the nice guy broke character so he must be crazy."
It shows that he's so angry he knows he'll do something worse, and he is so good-hearted that he pre-emptively gets help before allowing that to happen.
One of the many things MacFarlane and his team of writers don't get.
No, the thing McFarlane doesn't get is how anything works.
The thing is shock-humor only works if used sparingly. If you use it consistently, it gets old really fast.

They put so much effort into building him a new home, and this is the thanks they get? But after a while, those angry expressions slowly become ones of concern. In all the time they've known him, they've never seen Flanders like this, and their concerned for his well being and health.
I suppose, but most of Springfield didn't actually like Ned because Ned was judging all of them all the time with Lovejoy
And a subtle moment was Wiggum laughing at Lisa and Ned went off on him as a result. Ned still is compassionate enough to care. Anyhow, this goes to show bottling up anger is unhealthy.

@@deezy81 That, or he knew that if he butted in, Ned would've probably done way more than call him the worst. I mean, he was causing misfortune to the guy for so long.

This goes to show how bad it is to suppress negativity for such a sustained period of time. Such suppression of emotion is like a ticking time bomb, the more it gets suppressed over time, the bigger the eventual explosion of emotion once it bursts its banks.
