those who watched know what we saw.. Kobe had that same lethal dominance we saw in Jordan.. he's a victim of that "middle child" effect. its the current hyped up player vs the gold standard in Jordan. so all these Bron fans just try to make it about them and squeeze Kobe out. but Jordan an Kobe fans won't forget. he's still there. bron won't pass Kobe in my eyes.

It’s currently happening with Steph curry right now. Somehow they jumped bron right to Jordan. Now they’re talking curry v lebron. Somehow it’s like Kobe just never existed to these fools in the mainstream media. My Mt Rushmore is Jordan, Kareem, Russell and Kobe. It has been for about a decade and it likely always will be. There is nothing lebron can do at this stage of his career to jump Kobe. Nothing.

Bro u are 100% right. I started watching basketball in Jordan’s Rookie year and was a fan of his but Kobe has been my favorite player of all time. I think his stats don’t really paint the picture. Unfortunately he came into the legue young and the lakers had a stacked roster with Nick the quick, Eddie jones and others plus shaq so as a rookie he didn’t see much playing time until they traded Eddie jones. And still then he was second to shaq because of how dominant shaq was against other centers and we know basketball is played by finding mis Matches and all that so shaq as the first option was always going to be. But once Kobe came into his own, there is no denying he was the reason too that the lakers won those tittles, he proved it by going for 2 more without shaq while shaq got carried by wade and Alonzo morning. In my eyes Kobe will always be above lebron anytime

It doesn't..there are so many other players better then the leflop who the media keeps pushing this narrative on us everyday its sickening..but keep up the great work...we love it..

Kobe was that guy, dominating and making the league look silly and taking and out scoring, hitting buzzer beaters like nothing, dropped 81 lol like what crack are people smoking not to have him behind Jordan. It’s Jordan/Kobe than everyone else they both played a beautiful form of basketball that became the meta.

The amount of damage that JA Adande, Bill Plashke (Both very prominent LA Times writers at the time who later admitted to taking Shaq’s side, and trashing Kobe because Shaq treated them better) John Hollinger, and Bill Simmons did to Kobe and his reputation because of their personal issues can never be understated. Thank goodness players like Jordan and Bird came forward later to dispel their garbage.

You’re so right about this and the power the media has in influencing narratives with their bogus awards. Kobe with one league mvp. Preposterous. I think and can make an argument he should have had at least 3 and could have had as many as 4. But it’s a forgone conclusion he should have had 2. 2005-06 he averaged 35.4 points per game in a season where nightly scoring was 97 per game and pace was 90. He somehow won over half of his games and made the playoffs in a loaded western conference with Smush Parker, Brian Cooks and Chris Mhim/Kwame Brown in his starting lineup. Oh and he also was first team all defense that year. And finished fourth in mvp voting. Hilarious. Anyway imagine the difference in legacy conversation if it was 2 MVPs, or 3.

And I'm not hating on Shaq I love the guy but he only had 1 more good (but not great 2000 prime Shaq) season. he was in the MVP race in 2005 but after that he was done. DWade carried that team to a championship Shaq was nowhere near the player he was when he was dominating on the Lakers during that 3-peat. thank goodness for Dr. Jerry Buss if they actually chose Shaq over Kobe that would have been catastrophic for the Lakers.

FACTS!!!! John Hollinger and Bill Simmons did more damage to Kobe than other "analysts." Can somebody remind me, what is Bill Simmons credentials when it comes to evaluating players other than being just a fan like the rest of us?
ACTUAL coaches and GMs and players have almost all said Kobe was better. Bill Russell, of all people, attacked Simmons for his biased Kobe takes. Incredible, it takes ACTUAL legends to correct the folly of these talking head clowns. Again, what is Simmons experiential basis for evaluation? Was he a former scout? Former elite player? Former coach or coaching assistant? Like he's JUST a fan.
Same thing with Hollinger. He's a fan with a statistics degree. PER has many BUMS ahead of legends and any stat that purports to be a SINGULAR metric of value in basketball is already fallacious. PER has its uses, sure, but lets not mistake the map for the ACTUAL terrain. Kobe was a MONSTER in his prime. Still the only player in professional basketball history to outscore an entire team by himself through 3 quarters (2006 vs Dallas - which won 60 games that year).
Kobe > Lebron. Kobe top 2 imo.

    Kobe's career numbers

    2) Take away his last 3yrs (mostly injured)
    15 season output is this
Kobe Bryant averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 1,089 games between the 1998-99 and 2012-13 seasons.
27.4 (making his PPG 3rd all time) 29,858 total points on 45.5% shooting
This is a more accurate representation of his output
Also most people forget Kobe's athletic PEAK in 2003 this was before his multiple knee surgeries
the 2003 draft class never had to deal with this version of Kobe
Kobe Bryant had a win percentage of .618 without Shaquille O'Neal in his career.

I'll say this. I was just a young lad at the time, I'm only 31yo right now woulda been 7 years old during Kobe's first title run in 2000.
I'm too young to really remember watching Jordan. Watching the Lakers win 3 finals in a row is basically how I was introduced to the NBA. My family was never much for watching the regular season, but we habitually watched the playoffs.
I may have only been a young lad, so take that for what it's worth... but I know who I was watching for in those games. My eyes were glued to Kobe. Maybe I was just a naive kid didn't know any better. But Kobe had me hooked. I think even at a young age I understood there was something different about the way Kobe approached the game. His will, his drive, his determination...
Ironically, the same qualities I saw and admired in Kobe are the same reason I NEVER liked Lebron. Even from the very beginning I got the impression that there was something artificial about Lebron. He never had the same force of will as the greats who came before him. He was always entitled, from the moment he came into the league. That might be what bothered me the most about Lebron. He always acted like being the greatest is something the world owed him.

People don't know basketball like he did, and nobody loved it like he did. He's doesn't have the most titles, he wasn't the fastest or strongest player, but he is by far the most skilled with the ball in his hands. Kobe did things I never seen before or since. I respect what Russell did for racial equality & he has 11 rings but he averaged 15 on 44% without shooting jumpers, he shot a very low % with most of his shots being in the paint. As good as Wilt & Russell was, their era was so old it’s hard to put them up their like that, the game evolves too

@@anthonycelestin3559 we are living right now, in this very era, an era of inflated offensive production. The knicks and the lakers were the top 2 defensive rated teams in the NBA this year. The knicks allowed 104.7 points per game and the lakers allowed 106.8. When Kobe won his fourth title in 2008-09, the Indiana pacers allowed 106.2. They were ranked 28th that year in net defensive rating. In 2000-2001 when Kobe was averaging 29, 7 and 6 in the playoffs “getting carried” and the lakers won their 2nd of 3 straight titles, the teams they played in the playoffs that year allowed: 91, 95, 88 and 89 points per game during the regular season that year. The worst defensive team in the NBA that season allowed 101.5 points per game that year. That is 3 points lower than the best defensive team in the nba THIS year. There is no defense today. Everything is skewed. Kobe scored 35 a game in an 82 game season where league wide averages were 95 a night. With no spacing, low pacing etc. he would legitimately AVERAGE over 40 for a regular season today. And in the playoffs could EASILY average 40-45 for an entire playoff run. Comparing what Lebron James did in the playoffs from 2016 on to Kobe’s time is also not fair. Just like comparing quarterbacks today with all the rule change advantages they have with players in the 60 and 70s isn’t fair. Want to know what DOES always translate? How you specifically perform and how much you win in relation to the others in your era. Is Tom Brady’s numbers inflated over what, say Dan Marino’s were or could have been? Probably. But Marino played in the era he played in and won no Super Bowls. OBVIOUSLY a dude who wins 7 Super Bowls is the greatest ever. If it was THAT easy to win 11 titles in 13 year when Russell did it, others would have been dominating the era to a commensurate level. I will never knock someone’s resume when it has 11 titles in 13 years. I understand your points, but respectfully disagree. Wilt averaged 50 for an entire year. No one was doing that back then. Lebron averaged a triple double in a losing finals performance everyone goes crazy about. But we see it all the time now. Check what Russ Westbrook does these days. Luka Doncic. Same, with Dame and Durant. Hell Giannis, Trey young. These dudes are GOING OFF at rates that look historically excellent. Until you understand the context of the era they are doing it in. Many of these players tho, are still not translating that production to winning. Even Lebron with 4, that is 4 in 18 years. That is 4 in 10 chances. To me, I’ll take a guy with 11 in 13. Even if era was “easier” than you think today’s is.

Kobe has 26 50 point games. He also could of had 10 60 point games. He scored 50 points in 3 quarters and sat out the 4th in 4 games.

Kobe is top 2 EVER. PERIOD. Oh and he shoots above Lebron in EFFICIENCY ON ALL FGS outside of 3 feet. Kobe > Bron.
Kobe top 2 ever. Those who SAW know exactly why. MONSTER.
STILL the ONLY player in professional basketball history (even WILT never did this) to OUTSCORE an entire basketball team by himself through 3 quarters (2006 vs Dallas). And he sat out the entire 4th quarter and part of the 2nd quarter!
    My GOAT. Him and MJ.

And yet Lebron's TS is still better.

      @@xaviervega468 Who cares?
If you shoot below 36% outside of 3 feet from the rim you end up 4 - 6 in the Finals needing to be carried to rings by Wade, Ray Allen, Anthony Davis and Kyrie.
I can name 10 no name NBA players with HIGHER CAREER eFG than Lebron.
Are they, by your criteria, BETTER than LeExcuses?
Only low IQ Bronsexuals fetishize FG% over WINNING. 😂😂😂🤡
