It was TECHNICALLY 11 years. BUT, I totally agree. He led the league in those 11 years in scoring and average, was the best defender at his position during that time. No one more complete ever other than Jordan.
@@skap_attack Why don't we just factor in the '99 year to give Duncan an extra title and FMVP? 😂 Yes, I agree The Black Mamba was the best of the decade. However, you can make a case for Duncan as well. Kobe was IMO slightly better than Duncan.
Kobe has never stopped until he ruptured his Achilles in 2013. He had faced the highest level of competition for a LONG time and more games. 00-10 Western Conference was the best time for basketball ever in my opinion. Even compared to '90s.
Dam right, the West was brutal. Spurs dynasty rolling, Nowitzki Mavs always contending, Suns running a revolutionary offense. You know a conference was tough when Tim Duncan couldn’t repeat as champion, even with the great talent around him
West was brutal from 2010-15/16 as well. The 8 th seed was at least a game or two above 500. And in that playoff race were two finals contenders spurs and okc. While the shit eastern conference conference had sub 500 teams as the 8 th seed. Even the trash Bobcats made the playoffs once
Mannnnn facts Kobe path was so tough from 2006-2011 the west was stacked, you had Phoenix, Dallas,San Antonio, Utah, and Denver All those teams had at least 50 wins.
The 2000s West was INSANE. LeBron wouldn't even qualify for playoffs if he was in that conference back then. No play in tourney to save him back then. Luckily for him he was in the Leastern Conference...
It's weird. I remember there was a time where I thought it was common knowledge to think that Kobe was up to the second best player of all time next to Jordan, then it seemed like overnight, LeBron entered the conversation and the media stopped talking about Kobe all together. Maybe I'm remembering that incorrectly, but I do remember for sure being confused when people started to speak as if LeBron had surpassed Kobe way before you could even make that argument.
You're SO right. For at least a 5 year stretch there Kobe was top 2 or 3. Then LeBron came around and Kobe dropped to "more like 12 or 13". LOL absolutely CRAZY.
@@melvinhhcp3615LeBron was better than Kobe by 2012 and I don't like LeBron. Despite playing for the Lakers Kobe's still the most overrated player ever with LeBron right behind him
@@melvynsngltn27 How? Lbj choked in Dallas in 2011 as the 3rd option, and was playing on a superteam full of veterans. Kobe was not. Lbj wasn't better than Kobe until Kobe tore his achilles.
I'm a Spurs fan. Tim is my guy, however playing 2nd fiddle to Kobe is nothing to be ashamed of. If not for the Spurs Kobe would've won more rings without a doubt.
Never. Kobe was carried by Shaq for three championships. Blasphemy to even compare the two, Kobe actually got benched in a finals game 🤣 that would never happen to Duncan.
Yeah, I think Kobe and Shaq would've won the 1999 NBA title bringing Kobe's total to six but I feel like the Mavericks would've won the 2003 championship with Dirk Nowitzki bringing his total to 2 championships, the Suns would've won the 2005 championship with Steve Nash, the Cavaliers would've won the 2007 championship with a young Lebron, and the Heat would win the 2014 championship. Had this happened, I dread to think of all of the debates about Lebron Vs. Jordan because Lebron would have 6 titles, 6 Finals MVPs and 4 regular season mvps. It would be weird considering Kobe would also have 6 titles, 2 Finals mvps and 1 regular season mvp to his name as well bringing his name into a three person debate with Jordan, Lebron and Kobe.
I remember how brutally competitive the 2000's were. The media has a way of making you forget that. Being a Kobe fan, I appreciate you highlighting his greatness when the media constantly points out to the viewers of all the players they think are better.
-- I never liked Kobe, but he is probably the 2nd best SG behind MJ. I don't have Kobe in my Top 10, maybe around 15th. But as killer: he's Top 5 along MJ, JWest, Kobe, Bird, etc. So why do I have Kobe not in my Top 10? It's shocking that he and Shaq only have 1 MVP -- and Nash has 2. One thing I respect about Kobe? He and MJ didn't flop like LeBum.
Kobe was and is my favorite player. Considering all he went through and to still persevere is still amazing. To being doubted, to being respected. To failing multiple times to succeeding multiple times. #MyGoat
Those 2004-2007 years (give or take a year) really were tough -- they were in a rebuild phase, the Colorado allegations, all that with the pressure of being an LA Laker and carrying the franchise's expectations on his shoulders.
While I can recognize Jordan as the GOAT, and can understand how his "resume" is better than Kobe, the best player I have personally ever seen with my own eyes is Kobe Bryant. And he is also easily my favorite athlete of all time, if not one of my favorite people ever.
@skap_attack been following you Skap since I found you. Keep up the good work👏🏼👏🏼 a suggestion. Can you go over the 2007 finals and bring to light the Cavs we're not as trash as everyone seems to say. They were a top 5 rated defense and a top 10 rebounding team that made the finals. Which usually means they were actually good
I have Kobe #2 behind MJ and right ahead of Bird. People who didn't watch Kobe in the 2000s just do not understand how great this man was. The revisionist history on Kobe is criminal. I didn't see MJ, but I saw Kobe. This is what I call special.
When the game is on the line, and everything is at stake, LeFrozen seems to fade into the background. Kobe, on the other hand, had an insatiable hunger for victory. He wanted the ball in his hands, and he wanted to take the last shot. He relished the pressure and thrived in those high-pressure moments. LeBronze, well, he seems content with passing the ball or deferring to others when the going gets tough. He melts under the spotlight while Kobe thrived, hitting iconic contested shots and carrying his team to victory.
Couldn't agree more! And ANYONE who has ACTUALLY watched and remembers the entirety of BOTH players careers, quite frankly can't see it any other way. I refuse to believe anyone who watched both of those players entire careers can in reality see it any other way.
those are the facts, no doubt...MJ, Wilt, Kobe, and Bird had that mindset...give these guys the ball and tell everyone else to get the heck out of the way...unfortunately, LeBron at 6'9" & 260 lbs. wasn't wired that same way...if he had been, his career might've turned out even better than it had/has...maybe...
Skap, you killed this one. I told you this before, but you legit converted me to a Kobe guy. I can't believe how inexcusably I slept on his greatness. I knew he was better than everyone during his time but you've moved him up around the top for me all time next to MJ and another slept-on all-time great - Hakeem.
Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan owned the 2000s decade. Both won their championships the right way, they both have incredible battles against each other, especially in the playoffs, both of them were dominant in that physical tough and more competitive Western Conference when the West were so damn deep in the 2000s and they went through many many Hall of Famers and All-stars to get to their championship wins
@@somerandomchad469and yet NBA players put Kobe second some put him first, but most definitely not listening to you, I'd rather listen to NBA greats, instead of robots like you

Mike and Kobe are my favorite players, and I love the respect they had for one another. Like brothers. RIP Kobe your legacy will live on forever, we will never forget ❤
I once saw Kobe play. It was in the Playoffs in San Antonio. I had nosebleed seats. The Lakers beat the Spurs. I was so upset, but when I think back, what I remember the most is Kobe making fadeaway 3 pointers. It’s the ONLY thing I remember. Thank you, Mamba.
Also for most of the decade, Kobe was kept on a leash by Phil as far as him going off on scoring tears. He could have way more statistical achievements if it wasn't for that. But Kobe really wasn't a stat padder like that, he only cared about winning. And besides going through that gauntlet in the Western conference in the slowest pace in NBA history he also did it with multiple injuries as well as winning a chip with a broken finger on his shooting hand and other injuries. I remember LeBron sprained his finger on his non-shooting hand one time in Cleveland and he missed five games because of that.
Absolutely correct. Not only that, but until 2005 he had to defer to Shaq on offense, so he couldn’t get stats, either. But like you said, it’s always been about winning. At least, until LeBron came along.
@@J23LA24 if you really break down his career, take away the first two years as he was on the bench. And take away the last 3 years which were after the Achilles heel career ending injury. He played only 15 years as a starter and being relatively injury free.
@@chrisb5000 yup! I’ve argued that if you take away the first 3 seasons where he didn’t start, and the last 3 post-Achilles, you get a real picture of Kobe’s career. Without those seasons where he couldn’t go 100, we’ll never know. Yet even with all that, and everything we’ve said earlier, it’s still an amazing career.
Because lebron actually understood that playing with a sprained finger can cause permanent damage, but no while injured means you have the MaMba MeTaLITy
LeBron James won 1 scoring title, Kobe Bryant won 2 scoring titles, and Michael Jordan won 10 scoring titles. No MJ carbon-copies. Kobe Bryant was Kobe Bryant, with some of Michael Jordan’s moves, which both Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant confirmed. Highest scoring games of their respective careers: LeBron James -61 points /5 assists/ 7 rebounds , Kobe Bryant - 81 POINTS/ 2 assists/ 6 rebounds, and Michael Jordan - 69 POINTS/ 6 Assists/ 18 REBOUNDS, yes EIGHTEEN REBOUNDS for Michael Jordan’s highest scoring game of his career. So LeBron James was good. Kobe. Bryant was extra special. And Michael Jordan was OTHERWORLDLY!
Or if Stern didn't nix the cp3 deal... or if Jim Buss hired Phil instead of D'Antoni at the last minute. Kobe probably wouldn't have tore his achilles.
ABSOLUTELY. His team was ABSOLUTE TRASH in those two years. Smush Parker, Chris Mhim, Brian Cook and Lamar Odom was the starting five. The first two guys off the bench was Kwame Brown and Luke Walton. Legit one of the most putrid NBA teams in at least the last 3 decades. Exponentially worse than ANY of Lebron's early cavs teams.
@@skap_attackI truly don’t think people can truly grasp how awful Kwame was. Bless his heart, but I remember a stretch of games when he couldn’t catch a pass/or kept turning the ball over when trying post moves. It got so bad Laker crowd would boo him. 2005-2007 Kobe just needed a D Fish and a non-scrub big man . Which is what happened to begin 2007-2008 season. Bynum took a majority of Kwame’s minutes and we became one of the best teams in the league, before Pau arrived.
I was waiting for this decade! I respect all of the other decades as well. Skap, you did a phenomenal job well organized. Enjoyed how you portrayed this decade and giving all of the great basketball players their due respect, and finally but not least THE LAST ALPHA! Kobe was a beast RIP.
@@skap_attack hardly, curry's decade hands down. yes, same number of rings as lbj, but he should have had 4 not 3, had the league not fixed the 16 finals for lbj, furthermore even with durrant, i'd argue the cavs were a better team top to bottom then the warriors. but lbj just kept coming up small. furthermore, what has durrant done without curry? meanwhile curry has won 2 rings without durrant, with essentially the same team.
Awesome! Loved how you gave Duncan, Nowitzki, Garnett and Shaq their props. I never liked Kobe (while my Jordan Bulls were still competitive!) but I do recognize that he was an outstanding player. Great video! Expecting the next 😬
I got into the nba because of Allen Iverson. Then as a kid growing up in Miami, Dwade became my favorite player. I always saw Kobe as a rival so I never rooted for him. I was far from a Kobe fan. However I would never be foolish enough to say Kobe wasn’t the top dog of the 2000s
As a big Spurs fan growing up, Tim Duncan was always my favorite player, and he still is. But as a basketball fan, I always loved Kobe Bryant. He had a special place in my heart ever since I was a little kid sitting in front of the TV and trying to soak up as much NBA basketball as I could before bedtime. Many years have gone by since then. I'm now an adult in my 20s, and Kobe has sadly been gone for almost 4 years now. But even after all this time, my love and admiration for Kobe still hasn't changed. Hands down one of the greatest players to ever live, and I'm so lucky that I got to watch him play. Rest in peace, Kobe Bean.
Thank you so much for sharing this I am older than you. I "grew up" in the 90s. While I can admit Jordan is the GOAT and can recognize his resume above Kobe, the best player MY OWN eyes have ever personally seen is Kobe Bryant. It was the honor of my sports watching lifetime to be able to see his entire career, AND to be in Staples Center for his career finale against Utah. I still can't believe he's gone. BUT, he will NEVER be forgotten. 🙏❤
Duncan was a machine. I have the utmost respect for him as a player, teammate and man. However, if I have to choose between Duncan and Kobe I have to go with Kobe.
Duncan won 1 playoff series against Kobe and lost 4 playoff series to Kobe.... head to head, Kobe better. and 2 was when KObe had shaq, and 2 were with Gasol. However, you cut it, Kobe better than duncan
No doubt, I have NOTHING but respect for TD. He is bunched right in there all time with Bird and Magic around my 5-7 slots. BUT, I HAVE to go Kobe in the battle between these two.
Duncan had no All nba teammates not 1st 2nd or 3rd team during his titles runs. Like you said kobe had shaq, actually more like Shaq had kobe and kobe had pau. Duncan had nobody and won 3.
I've honestly had enough of this shit smh. Bad enough people out here plugging LeBron over Kobe, and saying its "not close". BUT now we got Tim Duncan...and hell even Steph Curry going over Kobe. Soon we're going to have Kobe down around 20th all time. The fuxk outta here. I watched every playoff game this cat ever played in. Kobe is WAY closer to one all time than he is ten.
Kobe said it best "they forget about the good one's but the great one's they will forever hate". The greatest player of my generation and no POS puppet in fake media gonna tell me otherwise. My favorite player, my favorite Laker, a REAL Laker. Mamba4ever, RIP Kobe 💜💛
Heck yeah! Kobe absolutely dominated the 2000s on both sides of the court and was laser focused. There is no debate that Kobe tore the 2000s apart both inidividually, and helped his team to win and to win Championships. Kobe also had a lot less help than MJ, but it didn't matter because he was so individually dominant and insanely driven. His 81 point game still blows my mind and is insane to watch. That's hard to do in a video game, let alone real life, and he is second to only Wilt, but Kobe actually accomplished more than Wilt when it comes to winning 5 championships. I also thought Lebron was a bust and that Dwayne Wade is better because Lebron couldn't win championships without him, but the media constantly shit on Kobe and shoved Lebron down our throats. Lebron was apparently the next MJ, but he just couldn't win, but Kobe was winning and admired MJ and even befriended him, but Lebron was somehow better? It made absolutely no sense. That's when I stopped caring about the NBA. Lebron was supposed to be the next best thing and he went ringless for nearly a decade, and it just kept getting worse. Amazing videos as always, Skap, and thank you for speaking the truth!
@@somerandomchad469 Imagine knowing about Wilt, Kareem, Bill Russel, MJ, and Kobe and thinking that Lebron is the GOAT. 🤦♂️ Lakers may not even qualify for the post this year, or if they do, Lebron will just choke again and complain that he has "no help". Dwyane Wade has 3 championships and Lebron has 4. Wade also actually went to college (but unfortunately didn't graduate) and played pretty damn well for Marquette too, though he couldn't take them all the way. Meanwhile, while Lebron was individually doing pretty well, he went ringless for 9 years, until he had to break the league and try to forge a superteam in order to finally win, and then fell far short of winning his own projected "Not 4, not 5, not 6..." 🤦♂️. Don't get me wrong, Lebron has individual achievements, but he is nowhere near being to GOAT of anything, unless you count turnovers, missed shots, and choking in the finals. Sorry, but Kareem earned every single one of his points, playing against other tough centers and tight man to man and often full court press defense, whereas Lebron scores countless completely uncontested shots against loose zone defenses, gets made up fake foul calls because he flops and the reffing is a joke, and he blatant stat pads. So that scoring record is hallow and not nearly as meaningful as Kareem's record, or Wilt's records, or Bill Russel's, or MJ's, or Kobe's, or Hakeem Olajuwon's, or John Stockton's, or Robert Parish's... If you honestly think Lebron is somehow the GOAT, then you gotta look up more about basketball history.
You thought lebron was was a bust? 💀 What even is a bust to you people? not being a literal god? Lebron literally carried the worst finals teams probably ever to the finals in his 4th year and has 10 finals appearances with 4 champions and 4fmvps so he was the best player on all of his championship teams, I don't care what you say but in the era of the golden state avengers that's winning
@@evifnoskcajKareem "earned" all of his points and somehow lebron didn't? 💀 Do you know how stupid that sounds. 2000s was the most competitive era...my personal favorite! It was magical! This was the only era where every position was competitive and stacked. There's so many great teams, great players, iconic/controversial moments that happened during this era: MJ returning for a bit (showing he still has it), Vince Carter's iconic dunks and iconic dunkers in general like Jason Richardson, 2002 Kings getting robbed or rigged rather of a chip, Kobe/Shaq dynasty lakers, Shaq's dominance The Jail Blazers, Malice in the Palice The underdog 2.0 bad boy Pistons putting an end to the Lakers dynasty and becoming the big dogs, Iverson's elite skills, Tim Duncan and the Spurs going neck-to-neck with the dynasty Lakers, T-Mac, and him single-handedly taking shitty teams to the playoffs, Freakish centers like Yoa Ming and Shawn Bradley, The 2001 Milwaukee Bucks, Dirk and Nash Mavericks duo, Jordan's official retirement, The most iconic draft class is 2003 with Bron, Melo, and Wade leading, Jason kidd's quest for the title, Kobe 81 points Wade winning his first chip his 3rd year and a Finals MVP with Shaq The big 4 Celtics Then last, Kobe closing out that era by going back-to-back without Shaq (taking out prime Dwight Howard, the big 4 Celtics) and almost creating another Laker dynasty. There's more iconic things I'm purposely missing because I'd be here all night typing. Shaq, and Duncan esp were top candidates for this era, but there's one man who this era belonged to over them, and it was Kobe Bryant! What he did during the 2000s was magical and probably will never be duplicated again...even though what Jordan did in the 90s was the most magical. The 2000s belonged to Kobe, but Duncan and Shaq were the runner-ups. 80s - Magic (Larry Bird Runner up: everyone calls it the Magic vs Bird era, but Magic got the better of Bird. I wouldn't say he single-handedly dominated his era to the level that MJ, Kobe, and Bron did, but for the most part I'll still give him this era because all of his chips came in this era). 90s - Jordan (no runner-ups) 2000s - Kobe (Tim Duncan and Shaq runner-ups) 2010s - LeBron James (Steph Curry runner-up)
2000s had very ugly basketball in the early years stop with the revisionist history. Teams would end up having 75-85 points at the end of the game. Every team was playing hero ball and there was very little ball movement. And it was way too defensive. The ratings were struggling back then because of it. The phoenix suns team lead by Steve nash rejuvenated the nba and brought In a more fast paced exciting brand of basketball. The 90s was overall the most entertaining basketball played ever when you combine offence and Defense and that’s why the ratings were so high back then.
Tim Duncan is kind of the Bill Russell to Kobe Bryant being Wilt Chamberlain. If that makes any sense. Tim and Bill are more facilitator team players while Kobe & Wilt are just super elite.
@@melvinhhcp3615 True. But Bill and Wilt went head to head while Tim and Kobe went head to head. I was trying to make the parallels as much as possible.

Your best video yet!!! I would also add that in the playoffs, Kobe beat Duncan head-to-head 4-1: in 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2008, while Duncan only beat Kobe in 2003. Kobe also went back to back twice in this decade (01-02 and 09-10) while Duncan never did.
Kobe had Shaq. Stop! What happened in 2003? Kobe still has Shaq and Duncan almost single handedly beat them. Prime Shaq and Kobe against Duncan an old David Robinson. Also, you love to talk about LeBron in the 2011 finals, but as a Kobe glazer, you never bring up the 2004 finals, when Kobe played like trash. Also neglecting Tim Duncan’s defense, having less help for the earlier part of the decade, and Kobe and Shaq going out in the second round to Tim Duncan in 2003, when Dry Bones Robinson averaged 7PPG, Tony Parker was a sophomore, and Manu Ginobili was a rookie. Also, the Lakers should’ve never won in 2002. For all of your talk about the NBA rigging things for LeBron, you leave out the 2002 WCF. Kobe had a gambling issue, which Tim Duncan did not have, and Tim Duncan was locking up big men. But wait, Tim Duncan made an all defense team for EVERY YEAR OF THE 2000s. All ten. He should’ve won DPOY in 2003. And before you bring up Gregg Poppavich as Tim Duncan’s coach, Kobe had Phil Jackson. And there’s more: Phil called Kobe uncoachable, something that was never an issue with Tim Duncan. Also, that’s not all: Kobe has 4 chips for the decade (2010 doesn’t count), Tim Duncan has three, however no rigging was involved for Tim Duncan. Duncan could play in any system, Kobe couldn’t. Duncan was more clutch and didn’t jack up shots, arguably the most unselfish player in NBA history. Also, the one thing Kobe was better at was scoring, and yet he only won two scoring titles. Tim Duncan is better on the head to head matchups. Tim Duncan was a far better off-ball player on BOTH ends of the floor, and was far better in the post season. I’m not a Kobe hater, he’s 8th all time, but I got Duncan at 6. And just to trigger you even more, LeBron’s at two. And before you bring up steroids for LeBron, Kobe was for sure taking them as well. Unreal athleticism and also a receding hairline very early on. His muscle mass was crazy for a dude his size, and was still playing at an elite level until he tore his Achilles. Meanwhile, Tim Duncan had a very natural decline. And you trying to discredit Pau Gasol as if he wasn’t a great passing big man. Sorry but Kobe’s 2009 run was not near Tim Duncan in 2003. You bring up scoring for Kobe being better but Tim Duncan is better at everything else. Tim Duncan was losing to Kobe in 2000-2002 because Kobe had Shaq. Tim Duncan was much better against the 2005 Pistons than Kobe in 2004. Also, Tim Duncan won more MVPs than Kobe. Now let’s look at how many years each player was the best player in the 2000s Shaq: 3 (2000, 2001, 2002) Tim Duncan: 3 (2003, 2004, 2005) Kobe: 2 (2006, 2008) LeBron: 2 (2007, 2009) (Tim Duncan called LeBron the best in the world during the 2007 finals, and don’t try to bring up the media or the NBA pushing narratives. Because Kobe was always being called the next “MJ”, and LeBron got a cheeks Cavs team to the NBA finals in 2007) Kobe was an all-time great, 100% top 10 of all time, no doubt about it. But he’s not better than Tim Duncan, and the 2000s was Tim Duncan’s decade. Don’t ever disrespect Tim Duncan again. I really hope that Legend of Winning, Johnny Arnett, or Rusty Buckets finds your sorry channel, because they will tear you to shreds, just like what LOW did with Dreamerspro, and just like what Marz did to Ticket.
I think Steve nash deserves a mention too, how he led the greatest offence of that decade and being able to turn a 29 win team to make it to the conference finals. He shaped the future of basketball.
I love how fools out here are STILL talking about "Shaq carried Kobe", when Shaq himself said Kobe is in the GOAT case. Shaq HIMSELF has said it's Mike and then Kobe. The lies out here today are wild.
Even with Lakers head office giving up on the team and league colluding to deny that cp3 trade, Kobe still managed to win with what he had. I am glad that Shaq was gone so Kobe could solidify his legacy. I hated hearing people saying how Shaq carried Kobe. Still makes you wonder, how many more Shaq and Kobe would have won if they had managed to stick together.

2000's means from the years 2001-2010 that's why the Lakers championship in 1999-2000 doesn't count in this particular argument. So, Shaq had 3 championships during this span of a decade (2001-2010), 2001, 2002, and 2006.
My man! I appreciate you 🙏❤ And while Shaq does have 4 for his career, for purposes of these video, the first one with LA came in the 1999-00 league year. So I counted that for the previous decade...
@@deonkincaid Yea the 00-09 style is called the cardinal, while the 01-10 is called the ordinal style. I believe the cardinal is a more generally used, it’s easier to follow for most because only one digit changes. 👍🏼
@@zoidzilla348 Kyrie ain’t have that extra level Kobe could go to. Kobe had that gear where if nothing was going for the team he could will them to victory
Like, am I crazy here? How many other players led the league in points scored and average for 14 years, was the best player at his position on defense, went to 7 finals and won 5? How many?? Only two cats I know from years of study of the sport that come to mind: Mike and Kobe. The slander is literally outrageous.
perfect video, summed up what i saw. i wasn't really a kobe fan, but frankly, no one was better for the 00s, even duncan as great as he was wasn't at kobe's level. i'll be interested in who you got for the 10's i think it's pretty obvious too... Steph Curry, matched lbj's 3 titles for the decade, had 2 mvps, and redefined offensive ball for the whole league, plus he got his 3 titles against lbj. and all 3 of those titles, i'd argue curry's supporting cast was inferior to the "king's", and when you look at the fail durrant has been without curry, or the fact curry took 2 rings without durrant, or the nba basically robbing curry of a 4th ring by fixing the 16 finals, i'd say he's probably the best player of the decade.
LMAO Curry’s supporting cast was inferior to Lebron’s was it? So for 2018, KD Klay Draymond and Iguodala is worse than Love, JR Smith, George Hill and Kyle Korver? For 2015, Klay, Draymond and Iguodala is worse than Shumpert, Mozgov, Dellavedova? 🤣🤣 This alone invalidates anything else you say
As a laker fan I loved Kobe’s era because he always defined greatness. Now I look at my team and I feel disgusted because of the self proclaimed “GOAT” Lefraud James screwed up. I can never accept the Mickey Mouse ring in 2020 and that in season tournament.
Wow. Great video. It really puts Jordan and Kobe in their own unique category. Kareem and Wilt being admirable just below them in dominating the decade. Both Kareem and Wilt just won 1 title each in those decades although so that’s why you really see how incredible Jordan and Kobe were. Magic and Bird also dominated, and won titles, although they didn’t quite dominate as much over everyone else. It probably was the best decade. The 2010s are more of a toss up. Curry really wins it in terms of his impact in changing the game basketball wise, although I don’t really love the era he brought in. Still, he is the best in terms of dominating compared with LeBron who changed super team after super team, and played as a kind of all rounder. I really wouldn’t mind placing him at the 10th or 11th best player of all time, and if he and his fans accepted that reality, I’d have more respect for him, especially with his longevity. It’s the GOAT nonsense that is so annoying. Like a gnat in my face in August. Not really a problem, but just aggravating. It’s like arguing Brett Farve is the greatest QB of all time and disrespecting Brady and Joe Montana. You’d be better off just saying he’s better than Troy Aikman, John Elway or Peyton Manning, even Dan Marino or Roger Straubach or Fran Tarkington, Johnny Unites
Couldn’t agree more, the 2000’s is Kobe’s era. Much respect for this Legend. 💜💛 The insane part is that this guy made the Super team of LeBronze happen as per Wade😂
@kierzenpaultorrico9251 That doesn't change the fact that it was Wade's opinion. Lebron had a 16-6 winning record against Kobe. Why would he be worried about him? LeBron's was worried about the big 3 Celtics because that was the best team that dominated the eastern conference at the time.
@@syzorst Yeah and it does not change the fact that they colluded to WIN championships cause they’re jealous of Kobe’s Chips and to promise not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7 and only deliver 2. Lol
Saying 'It wasn't close' is such a reach. There is a solid debate for Duncan. The man who won more games, MVPs, and Finals MVPs with an all-time great Finals run and a game where he almost had a quadruple-double on the biggest stage. I love Kobe but c'mon now lol
Timmy gets the praise he deserves and rightfully so, but his path wasn’t near as complicated as Kobe’s, he played for an organization that won 50 games a year well prior to his arrival, had a top notch GM, owner, and coach, always had good to great players around him (yes he was the centerpiece) never had the likes of a Kwame or smush in his starting lineup, and didn’t play in a big market so didn’t have big market pressure let alone play for the most glamorous franchise in league history where all eyes are on you at all times, Kobe came in a young kid at 17 and legit grew up in front is our eyes, respectfully Kobe is the goat of the 2000’s and he’s right, it’s not that close.
@@brandonpierce4472 This is easy to break apart. You mentioned that Duncan played for an organization that already won 50 games before he got there. Well, Kobe played for an organization that won 11 rings before he got there - 2x more than the Spurs NOW. It's funny how you just left that out lol Jerry West, the GOAT executive and architect of 2 Laker dynasties, and the GOAT owner Dr Buss were already proven before Kobe. Don't even act like the Spurs were on the same level. Shaq at his very best is much better than any teammate Duncan ever had at theirs and Kobe had him for 7 years, so I say the short time he had mediocre talent balanced out especially when it wasn't his team. Kobe was vital in all but 1 of his championships. I'm not going to give a guy who was the MVP for less than half of his rings over the other and foolishly says he's the GOAT of the decade and “it's not even close” lol
@@217ShowOffBoii the irony here is that you indeed left out that the lakers hadn’t won a ring since 1987 and were mediocre for YEARS, meanwhile the spurs has 5 out the previous 7 years prior to Duncan’s Arrival and ONLY because the ADMIRAL (Shaq L’s leaps and bounds better than?) got “hurt” the year he was getting drafted and they went 20-62, the twin towers were a force to be reckoned with, the spurs never once starved for talent while Duncan was there period, put as much stock into mvps as you’d like, we all know Kobe was robbed of an mvp by steve Nash, anyway salute to Duncan, he’s great he’s just not on The Kobe Jordan Lebron Shaq level imo.
@@brandonpierce4472 You misinterpreted a few things or maybe I wasn’t too clear.. ‘The Lakers hadn’t won a ring since 1987 and were mediocre for YEARS’ They made the Finals in 1991 and still had West there. Let’s not act like it was some drought lol Robinson played at an all-star level just once when Duncan got there. ONE. They were a force due to Duncan playing like an All-NBA 1st Team as a rookie. He led the charge since day 1 and that means a lot. I never said ‘leaps and bounds better’ but Shaq still has a top 3-5 peaks ever. Lastly, I didn't put any stock in regular-season MVPs; I said MVPs for his CHAMPIONSHIPS. I would like to point out that Duncan’s career-winning average is 72% (59 games every season) and was the main guy for most of it. Had that been a Kobe stat, we’d never heard the end of it lol
Dope video, & people really need to stop with debating who's better when everyone knows Kobe was Mike's little brother that tried to be just like him. Leave it at that & he was 1000xs better than lebron. Which is why lebron ran from kobe 2xs in an all star game. Please do a video about that skap... people would 😭😂
Spread the truth. People keep slandering this goat's name. Like he wasn't killing anyone in the 00s. And his 08-10 finals run included so many 50+ win teams. Way more than most other legends
Another great vid by Skap. What people forget is that in Dec.2009, Kobe fractured his index finger on his shooting hand. He refused surgery. Went into a shooting slump. Had to change his jump shot. Played the rest of the season and the playoffs with the broken index finger = won his 5th ring, playoff MVP, 1st team All-NBA offense AND defense. Like Larry Bird, Kobe's finger never was close to being right again. Kobe friggin' BEAN! The last warrior in the NBA. May Kobe's legacy never die. Can't wait to read the lame LeFlop Fanboy comments. (they're comin'!). I'm sure you'll see something like these: LBJ's rookie ppg was higher than Kobe's rookie season, that makes LBJ the GOAT. 🤣 If LBJ had help with the Cavs, he definitely would have won at least 2 rings in the 2000s... 🤣🤣 If LBJ didn't sprain his big toe in 2007, he definitely would have swept the Spurs in the Finals... 🤣🤣🤣
There is no bigger Kobe fan on the planet than myself. Lived every moment of his career in Los Angeles, ups and downs, and know he was simply different. Beloved now, but was terribly disrespected by media, both local and national, when he played. Given that, even I have a hard time with “not even close.” Tim Duncan was as successful and dominant in the decade as Kobe, with a very different approach. Kobe gets the nod over “The Big Fundamental” because entertainment and cultural impact matter, but he didn’t run away with the decade. Duncan was right beside him most of the way and deserves that respect. He was Bird to Kobe’s Magic.
He was supposed to do that. He outweighed his opposing centers by 50-80lbs each. None of them were HoFers, except Dikembe who had injured fingers & weighed 70lbs less.
Still won 4 titles in the decade an scored over 21,000 Points. Counts for something. Don't get it twisted Kobe has a case but Duncan never had a losing season that's what I think separates him from Kobe, but finals MVP? Shaq was going up against nobody's an Kobe in 2002 was in the MVP discussion.
You've done it again. Mind-blowing stats that you gave on Kobe for the 2000s are incredible, and thank you, and thank you For keeping the truth alive 🐍💜💛
All facts 🐐🙏🏾💯 Kobe was also the defensive anchor for those Lakers championship teams who was the best player on the opposing teams when Kobe played in the finials it was majority guards and Kobe was the one defending them the most even when Ron arttest came Kobe was still the best defender on the team.
Kobe from 2000-2010 is 4-1 against Duncan in the playoffs. Kobe 29.3ppg Shaq 24.8ppg Shaq never outscored Kobe in any playoff series in the 2000s against the Spurs. Kobe met Duncan without Shaq once in 2008...Lakers won in 5 games. Clearly Kobe is the player of the 2000s. Shaq got the Finals MVPs because the East was weak. The real Finals was in the West, where Kobe flourished.

The Lakers had the 3rd worst offensive rating in NBA history when he was off the court, he averaged 40ppg for 2 months that season. The Lakers were a lottery team without him and he didn't have another teammate who finished top 10 in MVP voting like Steve Nash had in Shawn Marion who was the best defender on the Suns. Meanwhile Nash didn't average 20ppg or contribute defensively at all to the Suns. @koolkai4299 Yeah sorry but Kobe avg 35 ppg while getting his team to only 45 wins isn't moving me. It's easy to score a bunch of points to be a one man show. Nash got his team a higher record while being more efficient than Kobe. After he did avg 18 ppg on 50/40/90. And while Nash wasn't great on the defensive end but his elite passing and playmaking is what elevated that team to having the best offense in league. Not to mention in 2006, let alone Nash, Kobe wasn't even above Lebron or Dirk that season in the MVP voting.
The 2008-2010 Playoffs in the west was a blood bath and Kobe and his Lakers dominated all except for the 2008 Finals his first run against the Celtics superteam. And speaking about superteams, that '08 Celtics felt like was built to go up against Kobe, and it also felt like two other all time greats like KG and Ray Allen jumped to the weaker Eastern conference to avoid Kobe and have a better chance of reaching the Finals.

Kobe’s prime was in the hardest era in defense with the new rule changes and where every team that wanted to be a contender had to have a defensive specialist who’s only job was to practice defensive skills just for Kobe..
It's a known fact that Kobe struggled to get a ring post-Shaq. So much so, that the league let the Grizzlies gift wrap Pau Gasol to the Lakers in early 2008. Before that trade, the Lakers were good but not championship good. That trade turned them around. I'm not saying he (Kobe) wasn't great but let's be real. He got a LOT of help from Shaq, Gasol and Jerry West (GM of the Grizzlies at the time) .
Kobe is clearly the goat of the 2000s. Shaq's prime was relatively short. Duncan somehow managed to win a chip 7 years later his last one, dude deserves to be in the top 10 all time. AI and KG unfortunately didn't have competitive teams, otherwise they would be in this conversation.

Another Skap masterpiece. I have the 2000's GOAT closer myself. My guy Kobe laid an egg in 2004. They should have beat the Pistons. That's the only knock I have. We don't want to talk about LeBron. He didn't win jack in this decade. I have TD a little closer. But 5>3. And Tim's teams never repeated. In fact, his teams only went to the finals 2 times in a row once and in the following decade. I can't argue scoring or defense. Slowest pace and teams/individuals actually had to play defense. What Kobe did was remarkable. For those saying Shaq carried Kobe I say nope. To score, you have to be in the position to score and have the capability. Subtract Kobe's scoring from those teams and the Lakers would have been trash. Who would be picking up the slack? Glen Rice? Horace Grant? Robert Horry? Derek Fisher? Those early Laker teams were the Shaq AND Kobe show. Shaq was an extreme liability at the free-throw line. Had to be kept out of the lineup in close game situations. So how is one carrying the other? Can't wait for your 2010's episode. That should be interesting. Thanks again.
People that actually watched ball in the 2000s know there was absolutely zero debate between Kobe and Duncan. I have no idea when the hell Duncan suddenly passed up Kobe????? I'm pretty sure it's some other manufactured Klutch Mafia propaganda at this point.
Because a 38 yr old Duncan in 2014 tore LeBitch to shreds. And he should’ve been 3-0 against him if not for Ray Allen. The same Duncan that Kobe had the most winning percentage against too. But of course, the Krutch mafia always omits that last part.
I agree 100%. This Duncan revisionism started within the last 5 years or so. IF YOU WATCHED during the 2000s it was EASILY Kobe. EASILY. No conversation. And now, I respect the hell out of Duncan. I have him around 6th or 7th ALL TIME on my list. But he wasn't better than Kobe.
Its bc his team never hit rock bottom. They were consistently contenders through TDs career, even though he won fewer chips then Kobe in their primes. Lakers were up and down, which is really a front office thing but... people look at the standings
That kobe stuff used to be almost lebron level of hype and love where the media would just fawn over him. And it wasn't as annoying than it was with LeBron cause obviously kobe was better, but it got delusional at times cause he did have shaq and he did have those years where the team wasn't that great. I never got the duncan having great teammates thing and yet kobe had a top 10 player of all time and wasn't even a fmvp during that run. Also he did quit during a playoff series. Duncan was consistently always competing for titles and he only ever had one top 75 player on his team, and idk if I would count kawhi cause he duncan was still the best player in during those 2014 playoffs. Also there's several miracle shots/plays that have happened that have stopped duncan from 6 or 7 titles

The 2000s are 2000-2009. 2010 was in the decade of the 2010s so that year doesn't count.
It was TECHNICALLY 11 years. BUT, I totally agree. He led the league in those 11 years in scoring and average, was the best defender at his position during that time. No one more complete ever other than Jordan.

Those 2004-2007 years (give or take a year) really were tough -- they were in a rebuild phase, the Colorado allegations, all that with the pressure of being an LA Laker and carrying the franchise's expectations on his shoulders.

Yeah him and shaq were the top dogs, not individually though

It's good to see people finally appreciating Kobe's greatness. The media be disrespecting him too much. He's definitely up there with Mike and Kareem.

2000s was the most competitive era...my personal favorite! It was magical! This was the only era where every position was competitive and stacked. There's so many great teams, great players, iconic/controversial moments that happened during this era:
MJ returning for a bit (showing he still has it),
Vince Carter's iconic dunks and iconic dunkers in general like Jason Richardson,
2002 Kings getting robbed or rigged rather of a chip,
Kobe/Shaq dynasty lakers,
Shaq's dominance
The Jail Blazers,
Malice in the Palice
The underdog 2.0 bad boy Pistons putting an end to the Lakers dynasty and becoming the big dogs,
Iverson's elite skills,
Tim Duncan and the Spurs going neck-to-neck with the dynasty Lakers,
T-Mac, and him single-handedly taking shitty teams to the playoffs,
Freakish centers like Yoa Ming and Shawn Bradley,
The 2001 Milwaukee Bucks,
Dirk and Nash Mavericks duo,
Jordan's official retirement,
The most iconic draft class is 2003 with Bron, Melo, and Wade leading,
Jason kidd's quest for the title,
Kobe 81 points
Wade winning his first chip his 3rd year and a Finals MVP with Shaq
The big 4 Celtics
Then last, Kobe closing out that era by going back-to-back without Shaq (taking out prime Dwight Howard, the big 4 Celtics) and almost creating another Laker dynasty.
90s - Jordan (no runner-ups)
2000s - Kobe (Tim Duncan and Shaq runner-ups)
2010s - LeBron James (Steph Curry runner-up)
2000s had very ugly basketball in the early years stop with the revisionist history. Teams would end up having 75-85 points at the end of the game. The 90s was overall the most entertaining basketball played ever when you combine offence and Defense and that’s why the ratings were so high back then.

Also, you love to talk about LeBron in the 2011 finals, but as a Kobe glazer, you never bring up the 2004 finals, when Kobe played like trash. Also, the Lakers should’ve never won in 2002. For all of your talk about the NBA rigging things for LeBron, you leave out the 2002 WCF. Oh, and you forgot one thing: Kobe made 9x all defense teams huh? Well for one he didn’t deserve all of them, but two and more importantly, Tim Duncan was a FAR FAR better defender.
Now let’s look at how many years each player was the best player in the 2000s
Shaq: 3 (2000, 2001, 2002)
Tim Duncan: 3 (2003, 2004, 2005)
Kobe: 2 (2006, 2008)
LeBron: 2 (2007, 2009)
(Tim Duncan called LeBron the best in the world during the 2007 finals, and don’t try to bring up the media or the NBA pushing narratives. Because Kobe was always being called the next “MJ”, and LeBron got a cheeks Cavs team to the NBA finals in 2007)
Kobe was an all-time great, 100% top 10 of all time, no doubt about it. But he’s not better than Tim Duncan, and the 2000s was Tim Duncan’s decade. Don’t ever disrespect Tim Duncan again. Exactly, if he didn’t have that fake case they would’ve marketed him better and maybe people woulda understood

If it’s the deepest decade ever why do a lot of you shit on bron for playing in the 2000s as a non-difficult era. I’m still a little new to basketball so I haven’t seen much of early bron

You can say Duncan was the best player in that system but he wasn't the system. I believe if you replace Duncan with any other good PF they'd have the same success if not more. ie Malone, Barkley, KG, Dirk..

Sidenote: Shaq has 4 3 La, 1 Mia
2000's means from the years 2001-2010
that's why the Lakers championship in 1999-2000 doesn't count in this particular argument. So, Shaq had 3 championships during this span of a decade (2001-2010), 2001, 2002, and 2006.
My man! I appreciate you 🙏❤
And while Shaq does have 4 for his career, for purposes of these video, the first one with LA came in the 1999-00 league year. So I counted that for the previous decade...
I count 00-09 instead of 01-10, I get it though
@@deonkincaid Yea the 00-09 style is called the cardinal, while the 01-10 is called the ordinal style.

The kobe disrespect needs to stop. We have to get The lebron fan boys out the media

In Wade's opinion but not LeBron's.
@@syzorst lol, but who he called to team up tho?
@kierzenpaultorrico9251 That doesn't change the fact that it was Wade's opinion. Lebron had a 16-6 winning record against Kobe. Why would he be worried about him? LeBron's was worried about the big 3 Celtics because that was the best team that dominated the eastern conference at the time.
Lebron James was more worried about the Celtics and Spurs than Kobe in 2000s tbh, those 2 teams tormented lebron more, we all saw that happen
Omg … I am happy we have your channel, speaking nothing but facts ! Ppl hate giving Kobe credit
Could you imagine if Kobe had Jerry West in the front office for the whole 2000's, how many more championships He would have won
Probably the whole decade. It would've helped if Robert Horry didn't switch teams either.
Kobe Bryant had a bigger bag than Santa Claus.
FACTS 💯!!!
This is why i dont see a Lebron Era. Kobe/ Shaq 2000s Curry / KD 2010s
Facts 👊🏿💯
Why is it Steph/KD for 2010 and not Lebron/Steph?
I'm sure you'll see something like these:
LBJ's rookie ppg was higher than Kobe's rookie season, that makes LBJ the GOAT. 🤣
If LBJ had help with the Cavs, he definitely would have won at least 2 rings in the 2000s... 🤣🤣
If LBJ didn't sprain his big toe in 2007, he definitely would have swept the Spurs in the Finals...
I fucks with this channel heavy 💯

Shaq average over 30 points per game in his first 3 NBA Finals and won Finals MVP for all 3
He was supposed to do that. He outweighed his opposing centers by 50-80lbs each. None of them were HoFers, except Dikembe who had injured fingers & weighed 70lbs less.
Kobe won 1 MVP, 2 scoring titles, and wasn’t Finals MVP in his first three rings during the 2000s.
Mind-blowing stats that you gave on Kobe for the 2000s are incredible, and thank you, and thank you

Kobe 29.3ppg
Shaq 24.8ppg
Shaq never outscored Kobe in any playoff series in the 2000s against the Spurs.
Kobe met Duncan without Shaq once in 2008...Lakers won in 5 games.

Shaq got the Finals MVPs because the East was weak. The real Finals was in the West, where Kobe flourished.

What years did Kobe get robbed of MVP?
@@syzorst2006 when he led the league in scoring averaging 35.4ppg when the league average 97ppg. He became the only player in NBA history to average 35ppg and make 1st Team All-Defense in the same season with Michael Jordan. Kobe finished tied for 1st in the entire NBA in Player Efficiency Rating that season. Kobe played with Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown, Brian Cook, Luke Walton and rookie Bynum. 60 win Mavs team was a 4th seed. Kobe outscored them in 3 quarters that season by dropping 62 points. Kobe had 27 40+ point games 6 50+ scored 81 points in a game they were down double digits to win. Whole teams set game planned to try to stop him. I've never seen anything like it.
Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are on a level that most people can't really reach,Lebron james tried but he failed Miserably.
Lbj was never legit in the conversation.
When ray allen went to the sonics the Lakers weren't relevant because the main reason they won (shaq) left.... Kobe fans are so dumb

Zone defense allowed in 2001-02
Hand checking removed in 04-05
So lebron and wade NEVER played in an era of hand checking
Kobe’s prime was in the hardest era in defense with the new rule changes and where every team that wanted to be a contender had to have a defensive specialist who’s only job was to practice defensive skills just for Kobe..
@@glass7407 indeed
It's a known fact that Kobe struggled to get a ring post-Shaq. So much so, that the league let the Grizzlies gift wrap Pau Gasol to the Lakers in early 2008. Before that trade, the Lakers were good but not championship good. That trade turned them around.
I'm not saying he (Kobe) wasn't great but let's be real. He got a LOT of help from Shaq, Gasol and Jerry West (GM of the Grizzlies at the time) .
They were dominant pre gasol while bynum was healthy. They were mid once drew got hurt again lol
Tim Duncan has more accolades than Kobe, Stop the meat glazing
Career win shares (same amount of games played)
Tim-206
Kobe-172
That’s 2 seasons worth of difference
Seasons with double digit win shares
Tim-12
Kobe-1
Peak win shares
Duncan-17.8
Kobe-14.9
Duncan had 2 seasons that was better than Kobe’s best season
Both 110 offensive rating for their careers. But Tim’s best was 116 and Kobe’s best was 110
Defensive rating 96 for Duncan 105 for Kobe. Duncan had 10 seasons defensive rating under 100, Kobe had 1 season.
Box plus/minus
Duncan-5.5
Kobe-3.9
Duncan had 4 seasons better to Kobe’s best season.
Reread title...2000s, not career
@@bwink23 and no, he wasn’t the best player of the 2000s sir
@@bwink23 he wasn’t even the best player for 40% of his championships. You Kobe fans have to stop lying when it comes to Kobe.
I wouldn't waste time. They won't get it lol.
Tell em!

I think you can make the case, at least that he is above EVERYONE ever other than Jordan...
@@skap_attackCan you make a Ben Wallace video
@@skap_attackEven Wilt? I can make a legit argument for Kobe over Kareem, but Wilt idk yet.
@@skap_attackIf Kobe had that 2nd 3peat, would you say he would be an equal compared to Jordan?
@@a012345 maaaan that’s tough. I mean ultimately Kobe does have the loss the Detroit and Boston on his finals resume. BUT you’re asking if he won that 2011 season? Beating the Miami super team with just Gasol? Yeaaa. I don’t think I’d go Kobe OVER Jordan. But that would definitely be a 1A and 1B type thing for me.
you are doing gods work... get this to Stephen A Smith... RIP KOBE
Max Kellerman started that dumbness back last decade
