Brandon Roy was special. Really thought we had something in Portland before the injuries to him and oden. That team was probably our best shot since 2000
Bargnani would have been a star in this era. Maybe not a superstar but a sought after talent stretch 5, and the much softer defence of this era would have fit his game.
Faster moving defense with people and bigs covering mile plus more distance per game....crazy to call it soft when it's just different. Many old school great defenders would be too slow footed to even be an ok defender these days , too much movement...heck mid 80s through 90s was just post up an no help d or switches allowed...because it was the easiest to scheme because you couldn't do anything else..
@@CommentEnthusiast You understand what is a "what if", don't you? Btw, B-roy first season with blazers was 06-07. He played 57 games. Blazers record was 32-50, they didn't win the 1st pick because of the worst record, but a bit of luck. I don't think that Roy made any difference that season saying that it was his rookie season and Blazers didn't have the worst record. I really can’t fault a player for not living up to their potential if injuries are involved. Some injuries are avoidable but no player intends to get injured.
The issue with Andrea was also how he ended up filling out as a player he became very bottom heavy which meant he lost basically any burst he once had, and he couldn't jump, that mixed with a lack of muscle in his top half made him an awful rebounder and a traffic cone on defense and you simply can't have that with your starting centre nor can you have someone that slow footed play powerfoward, even dirk was pretty athletic in his hayday.
Terrible draft when you think of NBA careers.. But at least according to this video, lots of meaningful post-NBA careers and not a lot of serious troubles afterwards..
This draft was more bottom heavy than top heavy. Yes, Roy and Aldridge turned out to be great, but there were some great players at the later stages of this draft. Lowry, Rondo, Millsap was the 47th pick, etc. but outside of Aldridge and Roy, this has to be one of the worst top 10 picks in history. Bargnani never had the it factor to get better, sure, injuries played a part. Williams was nothing, Morrison was a joke, but god what a player at Gonzaga, Thomas didn’t do anything.
It's important to mention that that 2015 blazers team was on pace for 60 wins. The blazers ABSOLUTELY put it together with dame/aldrdige/wes/batum/rolo. That team was deadly as hell and a dark horse contender. Of course, this is the blazers so injuries completely derailed every thing. Also aldridge signing with the spurs WAS NOT the right move. They never won a ring with him there, kawhi left, and he screwed over an entire franchise in the process. Had he just stayed with dame, that would have given him so much more to work with. Aldridge leaving the way he did is exactly why the dame era played out the way it did.
I guess I should have looked at the title. I thought for sure you were going to talk about the best ones like Rondo but you only barely mentioned them but I guess that's the opposite of the title
holy shit my first nba game was at 2:14 i don’t even remember it I was 4 years old but It was 11-1 2010 and i knew kings played the raptors so had to look up the play-by-play and it matches. crazy shit
Actually Bargnani was not a bad pick. He got talent and modern big men skills. But was too soon for the time, his position was locked by Bosh and had multiple injuries. He has olso a mental breakdown and retired before his 30s. Potentially he was a Dirk, with right development and luck. Just never happened.

Yeah, the ‘06 draft class wasn’t great overall, but the Raptors totally wasted the #1 pick on Bargnani. He ended up being a total disaster. And all anyone remembers him for now in Toronto is his pasta commercials. I know it’s easy to look back on it and say that in retrospect, but if I were the Raptors, I would have gone with Aldridge that year. He would have been a better overall fit. I feel like Bargnani was picked as the Raptors way of trying to make a splash, and it backfired hard.
Think bargnani would flourish in today's nba. As mobile perimeter bigs was not as common as it is today putting on weight to become a traditional big really hurt his career
It really wasn't andrea ended up being a good player not great not n1 pick great but good 20ppg one year ... roy reached star status before injuries rudy gay was elite for some time LA was elite for like 6 years so yeah pretty solid draft
There was a first round playoff game between Dallas and Portland. Where Dallas dominated the series Roy had a throw back moment where he just went off to like single handily Carried the team.
If the appendix is too enlarged it can wrap around the colon, calling for a larger incision. I would guess this is what happened, takes longer for the scar to heal to where the stitches won’t pop.
Aldridge was loved in Portland. We wanted him to be the greatest Blazer ever (like he promised), then he turned his back on the franchise because Lillard was starting to become the main man. Now Portland hates him with a passion. If only we could have seen what a Lillard-Aldridge team could have done had they played together longer. F him. F him all to hell. LOL

We should be talking about the Vorp Brandon Roy had in only 6 years compared to everybody else’s 15-18
Vorp isn't a good stat all it tells you is that you're better than the player that may come into the line-up under you
I started watching basketball in my youth in the late 70s. Rudy Gay was a spectacular player. I loved his mid range game.
