Goddamn! This was a seriously good draft class. Two league MVPs, and yet like a number of people have already said, this class's potential still left so much on the table. But I imagine if you count up All-Star and All-NBA selections, 2008 would probably compare favorably to almost any other class. If you compare NBA games played, it probably stacks up better than most. It is not common to see so many long NBA careers outside the lottery. Great video to remember how successful this class was.
Dude used ankles weights, so it was only a matter of time. All he did was a hop step and tore it, it wasnt like a freak accident where he landed on someones ankle or something, this one game did not decide his whole career. If it didnt happen this game it most likely would have eventually happened later.
Derrick Rose managed to get his hands on the MVP trophy, but his career could have been so much better. The point guard won Rookie of the Year, became an All-Star in his second season, and amazingly, became the youngest MVP in NBA history in only his third year in the league. He was rewarded by the Chicago Bulls with a huge new contract in December 2011 but was limited to only 39 regular season appearances due to injuries. Rose was back for the playoffs and was ready to push the Bulls to an NBA title. However, disaster would strike. In Game 1 of the first-round bout against the Philadelphia 76ers, Rose tore his ACL while trying to jump. The Bulls were up 12 points with just less than a minute-and-a-half left in the fourth quarter. He shouldn't have even been in the game at that point... Rose never returned to the MVP star he was after undergoing knee surgery. He missed the entire 12/13 season and only played ten games the following year. The highlight of Rose's career since that fateful knee injury came on October 31, 2018, when he scored 50 points for the Timberwolves in a 128-125 win over the Utah Jazz. Rose was incredibly emotional after such a superb performance, which was a joy to see.
D Rose is still my favorite player, and why I got into ball. Scored his career high on my Wolves, holds a record that will be hard to ever beat, he’s a legendary player and could’ve been a star had his coaching staff treated him better
@@RejectHumanityReturn2Monke Grant Hill is a 7x All-Star and 5-time All-NBA. D-Rose may have the MVP, but he is only a 3x All-Star, and has a lone All-NBA selection under his belt. They are not the same. People with arguably better resumes than D-Rose-or at least comparable- are still not HoFers (looking at you, Chauncey). It is possible but very unlikely
DRose is such a sad story. The man could’ve been so great. As well as these men losing their careers over weed. They beat their bodies night after night. Let them smoke damn!
Russ doesn't get dragged through the mud as much anymore. The only people that do it are casuals who are stuck on the bit. I don't even think Skip hates on Russ as much anymore (granted I stopped watching Skip after Shannon left).
@@SweatbandSports oh for sure, but if you go through OKC’s injury history during that run, it provides some explanation as to why the stats are what they are.
@SweatbandSports i know the first suspension was for PEDs, but the 2 year ban i thought was just over weed. I'm trying to look into it to confirm, all I've seen is that it was indeed drugs and not PEDs that caused the 2 year ban
@SweatbandSports that's crazy though, he was so good naturally if he would've just put the work in practicing instead of using PEDs i feel like he had 2nd or 3rd option on a championship team potential
I would consider being frustrated with his team for losing consistently a little different from whining because he has to switch up his play style. That’s what I was referring to
😂😂 love literally was a cry baby with Cleveland dude literally gave the ball to the other team to score than did the same thing again but they didn't score and looked at the coach mugging

Derrick Rose career would have been really stellar until that playoffs injury…
I agree
Thibs and D'Antoni...two arseholes who robbed some legends out of more years of incredible basketball
No doubt. He came out the gate crushing it. He definitely would be considered one of the greats had he not gotten hurt. Just like Grant Hill.
It was inevitable unfortunately

Every time I look at this draft class it’s sad because this class is OP
This draft had sooooo much untapped potential. Still was a good draft though, but jeez what could have been.

Rose shouldn't have won that mvp
@@IllMatic97💀💀 you can say that for various MVPs buddy. Opinions and pettiness won’t change the past.

This Was A Solid Draft.... The Top 10 Minus 1 Pick Crazy...
13 picks before a rings. Damn
Nahh that block on Scal was ruthless
Scal’s face when he blocked it😂
Really sad that D-Rose will be the first ever MVP not to make the HoF. He just hasn't done enough-his body robbed him of that trajectory
I personally think MVP should be enough alone
Grant Hill is a HoFer so DRose will also be one.

He was not just an MVP, He is the YOUNGEST MVP. That alone should be enough
Gallo is the definition of underrated, injuries did him dirty tho
Beasley's problem was always mental. He was kind of looney.
Your always my no.1 idol Drose

As I like to say , DRose is the Goat that never happened
crazy how people deny that russ is a top 5 point guard of all time
Chris paul, magic, stockton, kidd, curry all better
Crazy to say. But honestly if I could've been any player from that draft it would be JaVale McGee
Nah fr, he prolly one of the best role player ever or prolly top 5-10
This draft could’ve have been one of the best of all time
If we have one coming thing in our minds .
What if Derrick Rose didn't crack his leg in the first place ?
Or learned how to land safely
Nice video
Thanks!

Joe Alexander is my hometown hero😂
Legend!
Great class
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't OJ Mayo's "drug problem" just that he smoked weed? Which isn't even a thing the league cares about anymore
Says he tested positive for DHEA also

I believe it was just marijuana
and painkillers, and I know, some people must feel pressured to use it if they aren’t the best player in the league
The music in this is BEAUTIFUL! Well, well done sir!
2012 Bulls Winning It All
👀 imagine
Espn 30 for 30 “The Rose that never blossomed”
When talking about the drug violations we should separate marijuana violations from the rest
Mcgee is the goat.
Mike Beasley and O.J Mayo are “what ifs”
Nipsey wasn't born on 1958 I think 1985.
Anything? Russ was literally more explosive than Rose, Ja is equally as explosive too. SGA will equal him too soon.
Drose 😭😭😭
Tibs ruined rose’s career
It's Dwight not Shaq
What
K love not whining? thats all he did in Cleveland after bron left

wasted potential from derrick rose man..

Jesus Christ loves you
Only my pistons would trade for an old guy with 3 leg injuries 😭 I didn’t even realize who he was till this video 😂 i forget all about him
Early 🎉

Drose was a tragedy..
The rest are bums
The rest of the players in the draft???
ok bums is too harsh but I feel like this is a draft of wasted potential
Gets suspended for 2 years for drugs meanwhile the league just ignores the wife beaters and pedophiles
