First time I heard Behind the Yashmak on their album when released, I knew it would stay with me until the end of my days. Such emotion, story, beauty, everything... This is my favorite version, seeing how much effort goes into giving us such beautiful music.
Thanks for publishing this online - one of the first ways I learnt of EST (in a previous version of the video, I guess). Sadly, I was too late to the party to ever see them live, and it's bittersweet to watch what I missed. Beautiful music, beautiful band.
Jedes Album, jedes Lied. Und das bleibt.
No words... thank you for the music, it's beyond words, the best forever ever amd more, mind expanding and exploding, shivers maker, heart exploding, love and extraterrestrial emotions, Thank You! Come back!
AbsolutelyTerrific! The music is so soothing to my soul and it carries me to another place in time. Thank You, for posting. The video itself is EPIC to watch. ( R.I.P.)
Since I discovered this concert video years ago, I *have* to come back in every few months and play it for another 50 times. And a little later somehow I find myself silently headbanging...
Amazing concert. Very motivational to listen to this before my gig. Esbjörn had a very individually unique style. The ostinato chord cycles he fleshes out while soloing is sublime.
please ! also publish Serenade for the renegade & When God created the coffee break, the two first tracks on this same fabulous magical live. A lot of thanks in advance.
maybe EST fans are more into listening then commenting.. as far as I see the crowds they also don't seem to be very extroverted during EST shows, they seem to fly away in themselves
there's no word to describe their music, I listen to EST for more than 20 years, I 'd never been able to write poetry or anything about their music even if it's so inspiring . I even talked with them in 1999 during the piano festival (La Roque d'Anthéron - France) asking them "how it comes to you" they answered something like "improvization" "listening at each others..." Anyway, music is the most spiritual art or maybe human activity, it is pure emotion that you cannot explain, you just got to drown into. The first time I heard them live (and I've never heard any note from them), during the track I said to my girlfriend "it seems we are floating in space" and at the end of it, Esbjorn said "the title of the last track is From Gagarin's point of view... So just enjoy the universal magic of music. When you listen to EST, you can be afraid of writing a comment is betraying them...

Level of dedication is out of planet, RIP Esbjörn

Quite the epic performance! Sadly only discovered these guys recently. Sad to hear he had passed. One of the best a jazz trios I’ve ever heard.

Same. Just now discovering this and very sad indeed. SO very good.
The best live performance of est. They reach such a flow in their interpretation that this version outpaces the studio recording
i listened maybe 100 times, always in our hearts
Le meilleur trio de ces année là ...Esbjorn :un mélodiste formidable . Dieu l'avait rappelé la haut , surement que le Anges avaient besoin de lui ...

Best version of Behind the Yashmak anywhere!
First discovered EST in 2008 (this video footage!), when I was 14. Glad to see this performance of Behind the Yashmak back online. Thank you!
Why did he have to die... I never got to see them live. Love this music.
Absolutely great!! We will miss your music forever.
