He's wrong starting around 52:00. Attachment style affects my friendships and who I'm drawn to for sure. It also affects attraction and who you even consider.
He's not wrong he's saying his knowledge on the subject that he's specifically speaking on is romantic or intimate. He even goes on to mention mentor/mentee as an example of where it can be relevant
I love the start of the stream where someone asked about Reactive Attachment Disorder and Autism and if someone can have both and Dr. K was like no we have to start simpler. XD yes a lot of us know a lot already about this stuff because it's everywhere these days. It's affecting our lives so much.
1:17:35 there is a way out: just lie about it to people. It's that ez, Say you have been in a short relationship and had sex a few times, but it didn't work out
I think women are on the higher end of anxious attachment because of societal pressures for relationships. Many of my female peers associate being single or having not married with failure in some way.
I do wonder if there really are more avoidant men and more anxious women or if the stereotypes and gender norms mean the avoidant women mask more effectively because I've met a lot of them, and even the anxiously attached men somehow hide in plain sight (I know multiple of those men too).
There may be some truth in what you said, but attachment style is established during infancy when societal pressures don’t matter to the individual. I do think they can possibly cause confusion about one’s attachment style in later years.
