In this video, we sit down with Aidan Roberts, one of the UK’s strongest boulderers, who has recently moved away from competition climbing to focus on the outdoor scene. We talk to him about his motivations, challenges, and achievements in both disciplines, as well as his future goals and projects. We also hear from Molly Thompson-Smith, a five-time national lead climbing champion and World Cup medalist, who shares her insights on balancing indoor and outdoor climbing, and Rob Greenwood, a UKC editor and avid climber, who gives us some perspective on the history and evolution of British climbing. Along the way, we get to see some stunning footage of Aidan’s ascents of some of the hardest boulder problems in the UK and abroad, including Superpowers (8C+) in the Lake District, Alphane (9A) in Chironico, and Midnight Project (9A) in Fontainebleau.
