I really hope this isn't the last of the DLC. Original Generations was an enormous missed opportunity and it would insane for them to NOT add more stages to this game...
Sonic Team confirmed on Twitter that they have no plans for more Generations DLC but "have plans for expansions to the next game" so I guess Frontiers 2 will have day one DLC.
As much as I love this game I 90% sure this is a we held off content to make you pay more dlc not a city that never sleeps dlc where it's extra content that came as an after thought
@@HOTD108_ I think the big disconnect for me is the fact that Shadow in the opening cutscene of the stage has three detailed high quality fur rendering. But then if you look at the model anywhere else, it's clearly just a texture or some kind of pattern where they're faking that extra detail.
It just makes me so frustrated thinking about this DLC. It has so much flair and effort, and yet it must have been in production at the same time as Shadow Gens. Yellow circles letting you know where explosions are dropping, the Shadow '05 G.U.N. Soldier model (despite it supposedly taking place in the movie world), the Westopolis remix... there is no UNIVERSE in which this wasn't originally Westopolis, and it was pulled out and remade for this, let's call it what it is, marketing stunt. This DLC simply existing likely is the reason there is no Shadow level in Shadow Gens, maybe the budget and time went into getting Keanu involved with his legitimately terrible voice acting in this DLC (can't rate the movie since it's not out yet). Not only did they take time away from Shadow Gens by remaking OG Gens alongside it, now they've done this too. All the in-level cutscenes (that have no input and no stakes, making them honestly really annoying since you don't get to play the game in this 1 level DLC) are just effort that wasn't put into the main game. No Kingdom Valley cool cutscenes... ugh. It just makes me so frustrated. Also, I'll just toss this in here; I thought I remembered TSR having Final Fortress models in it, and yeah, it does. They had a bunch of modern resolution and quality models of Final Fortress ready to use and re-fit to the Metal Overlord fight, and they used Chemical Plant instead >:C
Ngl hearing him say he doesn’t care for the sonic movie and saying “yep it’s another sonic movie” even tho it genuinely looks super well done and from what we know so far and what people are saying about it etc, idk kinda sad since the movies are one of the biggest parts of sonic right now (plus most enjoyable in my and a lot of peoples opinion) I know he wasn’t a fan of movie 2 and obviously if the films aren’t his thing (cause of the direction it goes in or whatever) fair enough. I know it can be difficult to impress him especially with him being the nitpicker he is and too negative sometimes imo. If he changes his mind and watches I hope he enjoys it.
Of course it's gonna look good when all the trailers are shadow and jim carrey doing cool shit. They're trailers after all. Problem is that just like the last 2 movies that will all be like 30 minutes of cool surrounded by a 1 hour slog only the 6 year olds at the theatre will be enjoying.
@@nixter3196 I’m fully aware of how good they make there trailers look, but don’t agree, to me and many 80-90% of the movies are really enjoyable with the other parts being fine for the most part. But overall taking in what I’ve seen and heard and what people are saying right now (early reviews) I feel like it’s going to be a cool time. Also I love shadow and this franchise means a lot to me. Do think saying most of film being a slog only kids will enjoy is insulting and isn’t true at all. Sorry if this turned into a rant, if your not that hyped or aren’t interested I obviously don’t have anything against ya.
It is not a hot take to not enjoy the sonic movies. The story direction and characterisation is very different from the games. It’s not crazy to not be a fan of that, that doesn’t make you a nitpicker
29:00 I both agree and disagree tbh I 100% agree that whenever the movies force the game characters & world into the background, they become solid, but ultimately bland, comedy movies that are really only propped up by the mostly decent writting and performances; Jim Carrey in particular carried the first movie *insanely hard* and he did quite a bit of heavy lifting for the 2nd one. But whenever the movies, you know, *actually give us what we came to see;* they're pretty damn good in my opinion. The kiddy humor and pop-culture references tho ABSOLUTELY bring them down by nearly whole point for me. The dance battle in the 2nd movie makes me *phisically ill* from the sheer *cringe* I have no trouble believing that all the issues with the movies are studio mandate tho. Its unfortunate, but it is obvious that, as the movies go on, Paramount seems to be giving the people working on them more and more creative control. Hence why this 3rd movie, based on apparent test screenings, is being praised as the best one by a country mile. I just hope that this translates into the 3rd movie taking itself WAY more seriously too. I'm fine with the tongue-and-cheek humor, but for the love of God no more kiddy humor and pop-culture references...
Nope. Most of the video is just replaying levels from base Shadow Generations lol. More time is spent navigating the menus than actually playing the 4-minute long, $10, DLC.
The mid-level cutscenes are really cool. …the *first* time you see them. But the more I replay the levels, the less I like them. Folks wanna complain about automation in Sonic games; how about going through a 3-second second loop, but instead of a 3-second loop, it’s *40 seconds of cutscene you can’t skip?!*
Yeah overall dlc is fine had a fun time but it’s too short (like the base game) Keanu as shadow is cool and it looks beautiful and I love the remix. Cutscene parts are once again well done. Is weird and disappointing there isn’t an act 2 at least. I too hope the next sonic racing game is good and is a big improvement from team sonic racing (I enjoyed but isn’t nearly as good) sonic all star transformed still the best one to me.
The controls in shadow gens defo aren't perfect but i defo think they are an improvement over sonic generations he feels less tanky at least and platforming is more comfortable
The level is just so boring. You can’t even use the doom powers and the minute long cutscenes take an eternity, I wish there was a mode that auto skipped QTE’s and mid level cutscenes. Also the level design isn’t all too interesting.

ngl shadow with blue jets on his shoes looks so much better than orange
Facts I was thinking the same thing
If there is anything i wish they did with this dlc is that movie shadow should be playable in the main stages
Yeah but now we know the problem, the mouth movements need to be completely reanimated
You’re able to play movie shadow outside the dlc with a code in hedge mod manager but his model starts looking fucked in cutscenes
The model looks fucked in any context. Realistic fur Sonic characters are fundamentally unappealing to look at.
@@HOTD108_Sonic characters can have realistic fur. The movies did it well But for the games, its better without them.

It definitely looks terrible in the game, haven't seen the movie so I dunno about that though
@@chrisfratz Exactly. The game isn't rendering actual fur. The werehog has better fur.
We should get The Black Comet as DLC imo.
