- Nicolette Larson performs as the musical guest on a standup comedy TV show broadcast from July 1981 and rebroadcast in 1987. The BetaGems channel also has "Nicolette Larson 1-15-88 late night TV performance."
BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded between from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on RUclips or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads.
In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper, who worked for a local cable TV production company in the 1980s, monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area.
I loved this song the very first time I heard it. And then, i saw her, with that incredibly long hair and her beautiful, smiling face and that voice. And then, she was gone. I miss her. I miss her so much. A bitter sweet, loving memory.
There is alot of lonely people out there but I will say this WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS SHALL BE SAVED!!!😊
My heart aches every time I hear this song, I miss your beautiful voice, you’re natural beauty. Rest In Peace you Angel you. ❤️

I could not agree more
@@bobdonovan4505 she was married to drummer Russ Kunkel. Studio drummer. He is still alive and knows about loss
Very Nice.
Linda moça de olhos tristes💐
Man, she was such a great performer. Her beauty is obvious and mesmerizing.
Her awareness of which camera was on her was phenomenal. And it wasn’t just a one or two camera angle. And loved how she played to the camera. Really wish we could’ve seen her age and produce more music. Such a loss. My heart feels heavy whenever I hear her music. RIP
Agreed! FYI Nicolette once dated Weird Al Yankovic...........
Boy you summed it up! I still listen to her a lot on LP's. She is just unreal!
Her face had a variety of emotions connecting with the audience too.
@@knarfggor I didn’t know that she was dating Weird Al Yankovic are you sure? 🤔
Her voice....my gosh, I wish I'd appreciated it more in my 20's. Her voice just floats, so beautiful.
We must be close in age I am 65
Me Too! I played it alot ,but age just sneaks right upon ya BUMMER
Don’t feel bad, there was a tremendous wave of great female vocalists back then.
Man, if she was alive today you can imagine how many fans would go to her Concert Tours! 😭😭😭
"Concert tours" does not get capitalized.
Best girl singer ever!❤
@@bearcookie13, I liked her but I’d give the edge to Judy Garland.
What I love about this song and I didn't realize this until 40 years later is when she hits it into a higher gear "so if you looking my direction and we don't see eye to eye my heart needs perfection..." I recall when this was a hit in the late 70s was a cool song but appreciate it much more now again 40 years later! Her voice is so wonderful and yes too bad she left early. Hopefully she's in a much better place!
With that voice, it does surprise me that she didn't achieve more popularity.
protection not perfection😁
Agreed with all comments about our one and only Nicolette and her such a lovely hit. She's with us and we'll with she later one time. Thanks a lot RUclips also. Cheers.!!!
Beautiful song. Beautiful voice. Beautiful woman.
You're reading my mind. I just posted that same comment at another place before I just saw yours. Peace.
This is one of these songs you never change the station when it comes on.
That’s right!
The kind of artist who can sing live and did the studio more of a favor than it did her!❤
Truly miss her. I’ve never seen This performance it’s almost like she’s still alive❤️R.I.P.

Her Smile, she loves her Music with Heart and Soul!! 🙂😇🎤🎵🎶💘💖💗💓💞💕👏
Saw her perform this in the same outfit and braids Va Beach Va. 1980ish. 6feet away.Im still mesmerized !
Wow - I would have fainted!
Love her and love this song but it just isn't the same without that haunting saxophone.
Also miss the beautiful violin.
Agreed about the saxophone 🎷. This song and this beautiful amazing woman are timeless.
Agreed, beautiful song, beautiful voice, but that sax riff is missing big time. RIP Angel…❤️
Right on
Yup, and the violin
It loses so much without the saxophone. She was so easy on the eyes though. What a doll. R.I.P.
What a talent. What a band. What an angel...
One of my fav songs of all time. Heaven has a singing angel.
Thanks for your music nicolette
She was absolutely adorable. OMG. Never knew. So sad what happened.

It's amazing how well she sang it every time...it sounded like a recording but wasn't...what a talent
Very Special! Wonderful , such a beautiful musician, her voice , extraordinary and Thanks for sharing
Lucky to have the opportunity to see her live show Twice. A natural voice. When live she needed little to any assistance from electronics. Saw her sign background in a few bands.
Then unfortunately she disappeared.
RIP, Nicolette, one of the all-time true beauties. I LOVE this song so much. I think it's almost impossible not to feel good while I hear you singing this song. This song has such incredible, positive vibes, and so do you! Off-the-charts good!!! :)
💕🥀
Great song was written by Neil Young
Van halen even used her in back up vox!!!!!
Man!!! Just a microphone and several tons of talent!!!
Maybe a few other things TBH
I remember listening to this song on the radio when I was a kid. She was so beautiful , amazing voice. So sad she died young.
Thats what taking drugs does to you.
She should have fixed.those Jack o' Lantern teeth😳
@@pepper1188 I think she was on crack by then.
@@xavierminchello8431 She wasn't on crack. It was a chronic addiction to Valium and Tylenol that killed Nicollete in 1997.
@@j9186 tylenol is hepatotoxic
So beautiful and talented and I'm glad to have her music and to be one of her fans and she will always be in my heart and play her music
Linda
Rest in peace you beautiful angel. Loved your music. I still have your vinyl record albums! We miss you lady!!!❤
STUNNING! Her beauty and that beautiful long hair.
She's GORGEOUS
I still love this version!
Life has a tendency to grab hold of us and we forget. Class of '79 who just now realized that Nicolette has passed. A lot of great memories surround this song both in High School and early college years. Never mind her vocals, Ms. Nicolette was beautiful.
She was so beautiful! We miss you.
She was a super cute, pretty, little, brown eyed girl, with a beautiful voice.
Gosh she radiated with so much light and love that nobody would have been able to predict that in about 16 years from this performance she would leave us. Gone too soon❤❤❤
She was a beautiful sweet little gem .a big talent .one of best classic songs of the 70s .I loved her voice .she left us to soon r.i.p dear ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Beautiful voice! Super cute build too. Gotta have the saxaphone and violin though. The keyboard wasn't getting it done. Rest easy Nicolette..
This is the youngest Nicolette Larson I have yet to see. Fantastic voice and nice moves on her part. Wishing you good health, prosperity, and safe passage throughout the New Year (2021). LOL. 🕍🥰😎👍⛪️😇🤷♀️🌠👼😢
Just awesome❤️🔥🎙️
1987 was around the time she needed another massive pop hit not a country song. Love this. Wish I saw it in 1987.
Like the most beautiful flower you will ever see, mindful of the fragility, fleeting existence, words and emotion fail. Enchanté...
She was one beautiful woman...I mean stunning
Such a great song and she sang it with such ease. What a tragedy. Seems like great music is getting harder to hear on the radio. Thank God for youtube.
Beautiful voice! One of my fav songs wen I was young.
Graduated in the 80s and appreciated it early on. Admittedly I laugh at the Trash record companies Pawn off as talent today. Takes me back to Simpler times, genuine people and better communication. 😃
Wasnt she so loverly 💕❤🙏😷💃
I love her so much!
So much goes through my mind watching this. Was that Shelly Winters in the audience? Two other people in the audience look famous as well. (Jan Smithers "Bailey" from WKRP) Nicolette Larson sounded just as good live as she did in her recordings! I was 12 years old when this was recorded and I remember hearing this song on the radio a lot growing up!
Still miss u now, will miss till I see u sing again, much love. Gerry.
She was a doll❤
She was a sweet little angel !!
Miss this singer and her music... If you want to check out her musical versatility, check out "Rhumba Girl" video (backed up by the great Little Feat) and the video of "Me and My Father" (backed by an orchestra in Italy, where she ends it with "Grazie"). RIP, Nicolette.
This woman is so easy to remember. If the last time you saw singing this song you were one year old... instantly something would click when you see her now. What a woman.
Wonderful. Just wonderful clip and performance. Thanks.
God bless her .she passed way too young
Yes I Love This Song Takes Me Back The Memories Of Back In The Days From 70s-80s Etc Love Nicolette Larson Beautiful Person And Performer Sadly Taken Too Soon Gone Too Soon RIP We'll Never Forget Her And Her Talent And Song....Lotta Love
great year i was 15 ,i got 2 tickets to the rocky horror picture show theatre production, what a fun night,so miss the music of those days, strange how i know this song but never knew the singer till now,she is such a sweetie
Song was out about Sept 1978
Man, I was 26 years old here, wish I could have met her!
Nicolette Larson, conheci seu trabalho hoje. Um fenômeno, incrível, que voz suave e agradável.
She is in heaven singing for the lord Amen 🙏🏽 ❤
Thank you for doing this.
Beautiful singer!
Really good... I love her so much .. ❤😊
Shelly Winters in the house!
Such a great voice. Never seen her in pants before...nice!

You deserve a longer life. So many love you.

Thanks!
She looks cute here with the cap and everything. 😻
Cute until she overdosed on combo drugs she was taking.
@@xavierminchello8431 What a stupid comment. Are you a 10 year old?

The most beautiful reminiscences of my youth... I love it
This was on the comedy program called An Evening at The Improv. At the start that is the host of the show Bud Friedman and sitting next to him is Shelley Winters.
I still have all of her LPs, in near mint plus (MN+) condition. Lupus had taken her away from us, poor thing. R.I.P. Nicolette!
Was brain edema caused by liver failure
@@lastnamefirst4035 thanks 4 clearing the facts
If she had lupus everything now makes sense!
I often heard this song when I was young. Its background music is of a high level. The sound of saxfon and flute is very beautiful.
What an incredibly amazing beautiful woman 🔥❤ How can you not fall in Love with her 🙏❤🔥
What a fantastic version of this great song.
She was a beautiful lady.
Lindaaa essa música ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Saudades dessas letras maravilhosas 💃🏽💃🏽🕺🕺💃🏽🕺
Beautiful
They shouldn’t ever use a synthesizer to replace the sax. Then again, it was a small audience but in 2024 it has hundreds of viewers!
It's true!
She was so beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Rest Peaceful ❤❤
Hermosa mi amor...
Esa carita, y esa canción la amo....
Lástima que partieras tan pronto..😓
miss her❤
How I miss the 80s
This was 70s
I feel like there is probably a little Nicollette Larson in every woman who has ever been truly loved.
.
How GREAT to hear her ACTUAL singing voice, rather than just having her lip-synch to a recorded track !!
Just as BEAUTIFUL as the woman herself !!
R.I.P. ......... 😔
.
Adoro esta Musica
This is her first time performing as the Musical guest on a standup comedy TV show broadcast on July 1981 and rebroadcast in 1987
Neil Young wrote this song but i love both vesrions (Neil's and Nicolette"s). damn, i love her pretty face, simple beauty, natural.
What a knockout and gorgeous babe
She was so gorgeous ❤
This is the song I want played at my funeral.
So cute and so talented!

Simply amazing.
Neil Young is a genial songwriter and singer, but nobody sings it like Nicolette!
Perfeita interpretação, que voz não canso de escultar. Essa linda canção
Pretty, cute, brown hair and eyes, omg! Hooked!
is that shelly winters in the audience?
Hey Bruce I was wondering the same thing when I first saw the video.
I thought I saw Shelly Winters too! Lol
It's got to be the great Shelly Winters!! By her enthusiastic applause, she appeared to be a big Nicolette fan...!
Love u nicolette
❤ love ❤️ the live performance of Nicolette singing lotta of love she looks beautiful 😊
LOVE THIS SONG!! ALWAYS LOVE A LIVE PERFORMANCE..NICE AND RAW!! 😎😎😎
