      unless there is room...many races won from shooting the gap when it is available. 2nd place probably could have been DQ's for that push. But yeah, general rule of thumb is be careful cutting inside. Then again, see what happened in the men's 5k final at the US Olympic Trials this past summer when Chelimo edged Fisher and Kincaid all the way out into lane 4.

      @@fierce-green-fire8887 yeah that true but the first place guy if you watch is feet at the end right after the push hey steps onto the turf and then back on the track therefore should have been the one who got DQ'd but since it was a relay he wasn't.

    • @fierce-green-fire8887
      @fierce-green-fire8887 Год назад

      @@maybelltrends4life773 getting pushed is not a reason for being DQ'd. The only reason he stepped on the turf was that he was pushed by the 2nd place runner...but often athletes aren't DQ's even when they do push, such as this race. The official let it go.

    1st place should be DQ’d for two reasons. 1) The obvious push to the other team when coming up on the inside at the end. 2) both the 2nd and 4th runners had their foot where they weren’t supposed to. With the last runner stepping out of the metal rim and and second runner having his inner foot on the lane inside his on the first bend before merging. Coaches really need to teach these young kids about these sorts of things so they don’t become habit and hard to break

      Not sure if the contact would have disqualified the runner in front, as the runner tried to pass on the inside and perhaps the front runner did not see him or the judges would have determined that the rear runner did not have a clear path to pass on the inside and forced the contact.
      Wonder whether there was a protest submitted by the team that finished in second, as they might have had a valid case.

    • @tosh369
      @tosh369 9 месяцев назад

      @@hellogoodbye4061, if you are on the inside, you never have a clear path to pass unless the front runner yields... and they don't have to do so. Pass on the outside and avoid these issues.

    Just a bad pass line at the end. The leader is not obligated to move to give you room to overtake, they just can't block. Of course its just kids so its a learning experience.
