It's a script and probably a computerized voice. "This process typically involves hydraulic or mechanical systems to control the gate's movement." If the reader had the specifications of THIS dam, she would already know which it is. It sounds like you're pointing out the limitations of a generic script or computerized voice in conveying specific details about a dam, especially when the reader might already have access to the specifications of that particular dam. Additionally, you suggest that the content appears to be part of a report aimed at improving the public image of the facility and the departments responsible for its construction and maintenance. Yes you are right 👍. Due to gates bigger in size and we can only open it minimum 1000mm due to cavitation and Abrasion effects on Downstream ogee concrete that opening releases 500 cumecs water when the reservoir is at full level. It causes drop in reservoir level and shortage of water for power generation. if we keep this gate open below 1000mm it damages the ogee concrete as well as the steel liner and sill beam due to high velocity of water jet cuts the steel plates

As an engineer, I witnessed a 5-minute, full-open test of a large radial gate. The erosion was so powerful it excavated at least ten feet into the rock downstream. I remember damming up the creek over the backyard fence after breakfast (shredded wheat) and then opening the flood gates when mom called me in for lunch (peanut butter and banana, I think), I don't remember much of a backlog of sediment having built up in that interim.
Are you... Elvis??
This video is a favorite amongst sufferers of constipation.
Haha, @stevejohnston2715, I appreciate the humor! 😄 Who knew a video about dams could find such a diverse audience? If you ever need a little distraction from life's... ahem, slower moments, feel free to swing by for more entertaining content.
You know the saying "They should've sent a poet"?
For this video, they did.
Interesting. Thanks for the video and the insights shared. Are you a dam engineer?
Thank you, @DonTruman! I'm glad you found the video interesting. While I'm not a dam engineer, I'm here to share information and insights to the best of my abilities.
The narrative alone was worth it. :) Thanks!
You're very welcome! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the narrative. If you have any more questions, want further information, or if there's anything else you'd like to discuss, feel free to let me know. I'm here to help and provide any information you might need!
I loved the narration. It reminds me of late 90s/early 2000s shooter games.
Hey @1992jamo! That's a cool comparison, and I appreciate the nostalgic vibes. If my narration brought back memories of those classic games, then mission accomplished!
Never hire a robot to do a human job..........like reading.
Does it smell ?
All they did was open the gate and she makes it sound like the world was saved.
Please check this I have uploaded the same video without narration... Nobody watching it 😭ruclips.net/video/GZXCcyZOyW0/видео.htmlsi=h5btxYHmIt58cQHd
😂😂😂
Fascinating! Thank-you.,🙂👍 But the English subtitles need checking, because they don't make much sense in various places. What has nudity to do with radial gate control, for example?
Good grief Charlie Brown! So many words to say, "They opened the dam"!
4:05 witnessing the “harmonious interaction between human ingenuity, nudity and the environment”
.
That’s what we always like to witness, isn’t it?😂
Guess I'm the only one so far that actually appreciated the straightforward explanation. I "zoomed to fit" the video, which blocks the subtitles....no need to read. Thanks for the informative and interesting video. 🌞
Warm welcome 🤗
@@Kashmir_explorer786 Thanks 🌞
Innane commentary. At 4:13, waxing eloquent on “…human ingenuity, nudity and the environment.” 😂
Thanks for pointing it out, and I appreciate your sense of humor. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the actual content
I *definitely* recommend a controlled and gradual release if you suspect a sediment load has accumulated behind your gate!
Awesome video i learned something thanks fur sharing
You're very welcome, @KB-dg2gr! I'm thrilled to hear that you found the video awesome and learned something new
A dam-related RUclips channel run by AI. 🤣
Try my best to make batter content for viewers
TRY HARDER. Thank you. @Kashmir_explorer786 @@Kashmir_explorer786
Video was good voice over needs taken out with a short introduction and let it ride. LESS is more in the visual world
This is yet another "professor speak" AI presentation where the word harmonious gets linked to every synonym in the English language. This is a very interesting subject but would be best left to more visual and less verbal presentation.
I understand that this process doesn't need narration and subtitles. Unfortunately I did that
Is this in Louisiana?
Who esle hit the mute key
That's great idea 💡 to lower the volume
That's great idea 💡 to lower the volume
Looks like the old Orville spillway with that huge crack on that ramp.
This is the latest technology used in Spillway Radial Gate working at a very high pressure of water. There are no cracks visible till now
Audio glitches aside, I find your videos to be very interesting and fascinating to watch. Your passion for, and pride in what you do is evident.
The narration just sounds like the usual "Art bollocks" you see beside art in a museum.
Can you imagine the mess downstream :o
It settles Downstream in the river. During high flow it washed out to mega dam reservoir
It settles Downstream in the river. During high flow it washed out to mega dam reservoir
How much gold do you think they harvest at the same time? Why have such a huge operation without collecting all the goodies.
It is impossible to get that gold if it is there. Silt built-up behind the gates which is inaccessible.
So, the dam got a laxative, and we got to see the bowel movement after three years of constipation...?
Hahaha huge constipation 🤮🤮🤮
The river has no natural flow so long as the dam is there. That sediment would not be there if the dam weren't there.
Yes river natural flow stopped by the dam and diverted into tunnels for power generation. Only E-Flow remains in the river
Oh man, 40 seconds in I'm already getting Blair Witch'd. I'm out. Decaf, dude!

that narrator voice gives me nostalgic memories...
"Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel. The time is 08:47 AM. Current topside temperature is 93 degrees, with an estimated high of one hundred and five. The Black Mesa compound is maintained at a pleasant 68 degrees at all times."
I also loved the generic booming male VOX ^^ I actually pulled the audiofiles from the game and made little soundboards or used it for windows notifications. still have the orig files haha, including the transit system lady
These dam engineers are always up to something ?!?!
Hahaha they have to look after all the components of the dam
Hahaha they have to look after all the components of the dam
Are we supposed to watch the video or read the subtitles
I started watching this with sound on.... then no sound.... then I covered the subtitles with my fingers.... then I click
AI strikes again...
"Haha, love your play-by-play of the viewing journey! 🎬👏 Glad my video sparked a cinematic adventure for you. Anything specific that stood out or just enjoying the unpredictability? Your comment added an extra layer of fun to the whole experience!
Ah, the unpredictable charm of AI! 🤖✨ If my virtual antics left you amused or puzzled, consider it my way of keeping things interesting. Is there a particular AI quirk that caught your attention, or just soaking in the digital randomness? Let me know your thoughts, and I'll try to keep the virtual rollercoaster rolling! 🎢😄
We didn't need the science professor lecture. Had to turn the sound off because it was irritating. Just let us watch and enjoy the video.
I have uploaded same without captions.
The narration is creepy.
That sediment is gold for a farmer. Wish I could buy it all up.
No need to buy it is free but it cannot be used as it came from the bottom of Spillways gates and goes downstream with high flow
Saw a video about a dam (in China I think) where the farmers complained their crops got flooded out some years.
After the dam was built, the soil stopped producing.
Nature knows what it's doing.
Just open the damn gate already
A narrative about a soul gaining entrance through the gates to heaven could not touch this.
Enough of the Ai voice. Open the damn gate.
. I have uploaded the same video without narration... Nobody watching it 😭ruclips.net/video/GZXCcyZOyW0/видео.htmlsi=h5btxYHmIt58cQHd
Beautiful angle.... but the drone digital voice was a bit distracting.
Does this damn have hydroelectrical generators?
Yabut, where was the nudity?
I waited in anticipation, but nothing. What a waste of time.
youtube censorship also censor end of Enginuity
Neat footage..... I live very close to Folsom Dam and see the gates open fairly frequently......... pretty neat.....
I bet that smells amazing!
Alternate title - 'When Your Laxative Finally Takes Effect'
The subtitles are absolutely hilarious!
Such a descriptive and poetic narrator 😀
real audio?
I was reading the comments and they all mention a computerized voice, but i don't hear one??? Did they take it off the video????
Haha I have replaced the computerized voice with music. A lot of people don't want to hear that voice.
This is really really cool!!!!
Thanks for watching and subscribing to the channel for more videos of dam and Spillway operations
Anyone else see that the narration said "It's not just water and sediment", however the subtitles say "It's not like an American" at 3:27. Shots fired 😂
Look at that crumbling concrete... remember Oroville dam?
Absolutely, The state of infrastructure is crucial, and it's essential to learn from past incidents like the Oroville Dam. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on how we can collectively prioritize and address these concerns, I'd love to hear them!
@@Kashmir_explorer786 Well... I'm neither an engineer or a dam expert but I would start to repair those large cracks in that water "slide". The Oroville problem also started with some relatively small cracks that got rapidly bigger when the flood came.
Can you imagine the fitst Dam to do this not realizing how much sediment had built up! They'd keep raising the gates until water started flowing freely but it'd never get to that point once the sediment cleared and the explosion of water overwhelmed the structure! Kinda scary how much power was behind that sediment.
Sediment removal is carried out in this way in a run of river Hydropower Dam. Empty and refilling of the reservoir takes only a few days.
4:22 Can we talk about how well the gates seal when closed?
Working great till now it completely seals the water when the gate is closed.
Great video
You know what I hate about videos like this??? They're WAY TOO SHORT...I could watch this sort of thing for hours.
Check this out ruclips.net/video/KiLroOxUw6s/видео.htmlsi=QX2ftKBeC45pXAkv
Love the captions: "Human ingenuity, nudity & the environment" 😄
it blocks those word if you notice
Those subtitles were on point. 😂 Amazing video though.
Thanks 😅I appreciate your unique and creative approach to feedback! If there's anything specific you'd like to see differently or if you have more thoughts to share, feel free to let me know. Your input is always welcome, and I'm here to assist or chat about anything you have in mind! 😊✨
What's the smallest font size in the world on anything
💫✨That was terrifyingly 🌊😨 beautiful to watch!💫✨
Just the power of that water is sobering!!! Great vid thx
Am I the only one who liked the narration?
The transition at 3:05 is like the morning after gorging at a good Mexican restaurant.
The writer for this was excellent.
