Good to see you're finally sorting the engine on the Dolomite 1300. You've had problems with the engine for as long as I can remember. Also it is good to see the 1850 running. I need to get mine running again, some replacement tyres and get the NSR jacking point welded.
Good Work on the Triumph Dolomite & Triumph Acclaim Cars. I’d love to Do Something like that
Superb videos really enjoy them pal from a fellow glaswegian
Much progress 👍.
Try not to rev a carb-fed engine like that before switching off. The sudden inflow of petrol will tend to wash the bores, leaving them devoid of oil. Better to let the engine idle for a while, then knock it off. If you're leaving it parked up for a while, a squirt of oil down each bore then spin the engine over 2 turns does wonders for keeping the bores oiled.
Its good to see you
and out of the blue... YOU'RE BACK! :D
The key to any good RUclips channel is a 6+ month release schedule.
I’m really enjoying your channel captain!
I notice in the mag you had that the Acclaim had a price tag of £4795 was it? Some mint top spec examples are not far off that price nowadays! How much did you give for your L of a car? If you don’t mind me asking?
The Acclaim was £850. It'd been for sale on Gumtree for months starting at £1800 and steadily dropping in price, I snapped it up when it finally ended up as a no-reserve auction on eBay.
I had an '89 Civic with twin carbs - just couldn't get the parts for them and ended up selling it cos the car ran like crap. I also didn't fancy having to remember where the 4 million vacuum lines went if I managed to find a replacement. Shame as it was a lovely motor, Honda engines really are unburstable.
Good to see you back.
Did you ever consider dropping the 1850 engine into the 1300? Or would that require a total drivetrain-replacement nightmare?
Mostly the latter, it'd be engine, gearbox, subframe, prop and diff to end up with a usable car and the 1850 has done the best part of 100,000 miles so would probably be due a rebuild itself... The cars are also 200 miles apart to add an extra layer of complication!
