You can negate the increased exhaustion of Strong Start by equipping it to another bug and having them relay the extra turn. Using this would make this strat more consistent, perhaps even allowing you to cut out on some other badge.
i've played this game like a solid year ago and im absolutely sure you could skip chompys turn back then, you most certainly can now since im replaying it currently. maybe you were on an old version?

I usually top this off by giving that bug Hard Charge while we're at it so their relay grants an extra kick.

you *can* fail the attack, if u rly don't want to damage the enemy, I do it whenever I freeze someone but I want to keep them frozen for the next turn

@@regretinglifechoices5519 I ended up finding it later. So either I somehow “unlocked” it or I just wasn’t looking hard enough the first time.
@@pearspeedruns to be fair they overlap, so if you never turn through chompys menu you won't see it ofc
