In my opinion, this is one of the best tutorials for tech house groove so far. Would definitely appreciate more from Max!
Cut and dry. You've shared something special here. A template for creating. Probably the most useful video regarding groove, ableton, and techno.

Love the tip for Kicks using a return track with EQ & compression
Thanks so much Max Chapman and FMM

Thank you, Max!
Some brilliant tips there, thanks!
Great video, still two years later, Thank you
nice tips in this video, thanks for sharing
Awesome stuff 👊🏼💥
love the kick trick epic man thx a lot !!!!
Best tutorial on drums I've seen on RUclips, been getting my head in a right pickle trying to get it sound right, but this has shown me exactly what I needed thank you a lot haha!
everything is generic in regards to layout for the most part, he's not going to give away his sound. that's up to you as a producer to develop.
Thanks for sharing
did you guys put the mic in his nose?
its techno dust
He explained a Kick-Return-Trick with the words "it doesn´t affect the volume". He looks at the track-volume and not at the master-volume, while he explained. The kick get´s 4dB louder with the "trick" in the master-section and people think it is better, cause it only get´s louder and a little bit more compressed and high-cutted
Thanks for the Video Max. Learned some Nuggets from it.
Absolute legend
this is bang on!
thanks max!
Wicked tutorial mate, good to have someone who isn't too serious about stuff and just enjoys making sound. Safe man
Road To Recovery you're from UK and you're poor. I can tell.
Thanks? Not sure what you meant by that.
Picked up a few nice tips there , the one on using a compressor for the automation on the snare volume was good. But you can always use the utility on something that's been automated to turn it up or down ... Think I'll be using Max's tip from now on , cheers mate 👍
Great video Max, Really appreciate it, hopefully you can make a part 2 on creating fills and melody's to finish a track, Again Than you.
amazing
Thanks Max for your time and share some good thoughts!
THANK YOU!! you have a new fan by the way!
Great tip on automating the volume on the compressor in the effects chain rather than on the track itself, so you can still mix it down later.
Studio goals AF
Good video, like the hats! and the off beat snare
top tut thanks
Thankz a lot! 🙂🖐️
good video, well presented
Surprised he worked that entire time with the epic phasing issues from the reverb on the return track not being set to 100% wet.
Other than that, interesting workflow setting the midi notes short and controlling the release. I thought that was pretty cool. Keep it up dood.
Probably phasing as he's mic'd up, so you've got a blend of signals.
BREX aaaah it was the snares phasing not the hats
Snares for sure, but it was anything going thru Send B since it wasn't set to 100%.
21:15 there is not a bass yet and I'm like holy shit
thank you bro
great tip
respect bro \m/
Some good tips there. 👍
What samples are you using for the 909 hats? Sound really nice?
very nice sound! I think if you use classic ADSR mode the length of the midi notes does not control anything so does not mind if they are sort or long.
Great video 😝
curti muito
thx
Is that kick trick to make it fatter like parallel compression? Or what? I use reason and i'm trying to figure out how to do it in reason... i'm drunk right now too so i feel like i'm misunderstanding this haha
I mean.... a monitor is too small, so why the fuck not get a TV as a monitor
That's what I do
great video, simple but very effective techniques... the best part was "they wont be able to nick ur drums" I always do that too hahaha
legendsz :(
Mouth breather
Hahaha
can anyone explain to me what he means by open up a return track 1:45 has he just put them affects on the channel for the kick or that return one? would help me out if you can, niceone
A simple straight up beat which always works well
Is it just me or does guy seem really cold in that studio?
incredible tutorial, wish I had one like this 15 years ago when I start composing hahahaha best regards !
Thanks for showing us how to use Ableton..
How did he link the master to the kicks @ the end?
It makes me happy that he said the exact same shit I say to myself every fucking time 😂 I'm on my way. Even if I can make my own grooves it just mixing that little bit better
Get max back to do a full walk through of a track please
can we have some more logic users please
Reverb on return tracks should be %100 wet. And adjust the amount from the send knob of the applied track. Otherwise you double the dry signal on the return track which as here can cause phasey sound.
getter for the next please man
This HIHAT is banging
dont u check the pre fadering meter??
where I can take kicks like this ?
my neck hurts just from watching
which keyboard is he using?
@futuremusic its issue 314

Thank you brother, Jesus Loves You! Galatians 6:9
como haga la pista de agitador
i got neck ache watching
someone has a free sample pack?
really -- dufff, crack = beat...
SO inventive!!!!
oh dear how sad nevermind :)
Se olvido del Groove Pool :v
Select an area to the length you want then hit Ctrl Shift m on a pc and i thiiiink its cmd shift m on a mac? It will speed up your workflow a wee bit m8.
My neck hurts!
Mine too. I really don't get how a lot of producers have their screens up there. It's non-ergonomic af. I understand people want some controllers, but not all the bulky gear that may go somewhere else just as well. (Maybe even above the screen.)
It's like he's having massive cocaine withdrawals... "eehhHHH... hhhhHHH..... umhh..."
Max Chapman the best producer right now imo
does anyone know the name of the audio interface he's using?
ableton live 9
Sam Nicholls windows 9t5
Sam Nicholls its a behringer control2usb i belive
Where would you get the background noise samples from?
go to www.freesound.org and search for atmosphere, street or field-recording etc. just need to make a free account and its yours to use! Or even better yet, get a portable mic like a zoom recorder and make your own recordings!
Awesome thanks mate!
No problem! Enjoy ;) probably one of my favourite websites to find any sound/recording you could think of!
why does EVERYONE use "alberton"?
