Red XIII: he can lifedrain enemies, not only that, he can basicaly magnify haste and heal without the materia, and all he neads to do to use these skills... is blocking, wich if you give him a steadfast block materia and an efficient block materia, completely negates the cons. Aerith: double magic, laser beams, aoe atb buffs, her wards ar the best party buffing skills in the game, and they allow her to teleport to safety with the press of a button, no one else can shoot 2 level 3 magic without her being in the party. FFX-2 has the Trainer job/dress sphere, which is basically the beastmaster. We're also getting the Beastmaster as a "limited job," similar to Blue Mage, in FFXIV: Dawntrail.
cait sith is easily th best glow up in gaming history- while im not great with him- i can immediately say hes no longer on the bench- which is the ideal place for a character im expected to play as needs to be at. ff7 (97) was perpetually on the bench i would have whole playthroughs where i dont so much as reequip him. just cause id rather have vincent or barret or red and i bench red after the first disc pretty much- so even with an older character moving to the bench he didnt sneak into my rotation once. XD rebirth though i actually use him in coliseum matches
Tifa Aerith Cait Sith is the strongest party in rebirth but it's obviously hard to pull off. They synergize perfectly , increase staggertime without using tifa so she can go hard on the enemy, everyone get limit increase, mp for aerith and Cait, and refocus for all, whike having 3 best DPS in game but are overall squishy, slow and junky. They can all fight flying enemies but Tifa needs to be launched to fly, Aerith is slow and squishy and Cait is overall hard to control in tandem with mog. Math says this is best party but you need skill to play it.
This! I would debate that is also tied with Tifa (with Fury Ring), Aerith, Yuffie, it’s crazy. But yea, that team with Cait is ridiculous, especially if you use Cait with the Red weapon with the +200 Moogle luck buff. He’s definitely the hardest character to master in the game by far and it’s not even close.
10:25 WOW i main Cait Sith (and DQ Hero in smash) and had no idea Moogle Knuckle increased stagger multiplier... They really need to better differentiate stagger damage vs multiplier vs increasing meter...
I want to say that there’s a hit stop (when animation slows down to give the player a visual cue) once the enemy becomes pressured. So just keep an eye out for that 😗
In the description of the ability both in menu and when selecting the ability to activate, “Increases stagger damage bonus” is the standard line for Moogle Knuckle, True Strike, and Ray of Judgement, while “Significantly increases stagger” is reserved for Focused Thrust/Shot/Strike. It’s only used on those 3 as the de facto starting party to kind ease you into it I guess (most upper level limit breaks also have the same description for increasing stagger, but I suppose it makes sense for those since you’re much less likely to be able to test those to see what they do). Other characters definitely have abilities that are the same “good for building stagger” type but aren’t explicitly listed as such, idk how to feel about that. I think Infinity’s End is the only non synergy ability that says “increased damage on stagger”. There are other ability modification mechanics that aren’t readily visible as well but are in descriptions- like so so SO many people don’t realize how much better Barret’s multi-ATB abilities are when you use them with max ATB instead of spamming them with just 1 ATB- which is why methods of getting him 3 ATB paired with his Turbulent Spirit makes him godlike. Tifa has Starshower buff the next attack, Yuffie has Art of War to buff itself and other abilities for a limited time, Red has a ton of contextual abilities where effectiveness depends on the Vengence Gauge, party HP, his own HP, and party ATB The game almost has an information overload issue that makes it easy to miss things with how many systems, characters, abilities, materia, baked in mechanics, synergy combos, party combinations, and affinities are going on
Yea I meant more visual and audio cues and less item descriptions. Like you can tell an enemy is pressured from anywhere on screen and Even off screen.. Not really specific to Cait.... But for him and Tifa etc would be nice if something more bombastic occurred when boosting stagger percent. Tiny nitpick
Good breakdown with some nice tips I definitely wouldn’t have thought of (even *if* I played the game)! The opening almost made me feel bad I trashed DQ to you the other day… Almost
@ thumbnail: 🖼️Anyone else take mild issue with other characters holding the buster sword? Always imagined it as a 200lb piece of steel exclusively for super soldier 🪖
I think it’s supposed to be made of a pretty light material and is probably around 80~100 pounds but I think it’s fair to see characters holding it. It’s another story to see them wielding it lol
I never even questioned ff7 power logics. A florist is a powerful mage, some girl that had boxing lessons for some years punch robots. A big black man has infinite bullets and a minigun for a arm. Somehow a shuriken is a boomerang. To me the combat is one element and the story other that don't have to mix.
@@bardockshiny Aerith is also the last of a race of people who have magic powers... Not a florist only. Lol is "big black man" really necessary? There's only 2 gun arm people and they both have infinite ammo.
Cait Sith's Legendary Combat Simulation was the 2nd easiest next to Aerith's Sim. Moogle Sentinel and Moogle Decoy makes Reeves 5 round bout very simple.
Was gonna make a joke about gambling with Cait Sith's limit break and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," but then I remembered that Motorhead's "Jailbait" sounds like FF7's "Fight On!"
@@devon9374 Why not both and adding a Crescent moon charm for good measure?, To keep Cait Sith active while controlling other characters for ATB Assist.. Not sure if Creascent Moon Charm applies to Moogle as well as Cait Sith itself.
Beast Master is in 5, 11, Tactics Advance, A2 (Nu Mou only in those 2), and is coming to 14 sometime during Dawn Trail (officially announced at the Japanese Fan Fest and alluded to at EU Fan Fest.) it’s also in Adventurers for 3DS and All The Bravest. Functionally Relm is a Beast Master if you use the relic to change her draw action to the capture version, and Cait Sith came with Manipulate materia making him a pseudo beast master. In 11 Beast Master infamously was a solo only job due to misinformation spread by Brady Games un their strategy guide… which looking back why did we need a strategy guide for an MMO?
Wow. I, uhhh, really missed the mark there 😅 Thanks a ton for clarifying all of that! I don’t remember the beastmaster job in Tactics Advance. Where was it in 12?? I should’ve known better about Relm. Maybe I can expand on that in the future. Relm, Strago, and Gau have always kind of fascinated me.
@@wizcatcheslightning it might have been renamed beast tamer In Advance. It is not in 12 as the jobs are only in the Zodiac version. And the 12 jobs are largely inspired by other jobs like Shikari (Hunter, or Bounty Hunter. The Shikari in 11 were the Magus Sisters and they were functionally bounty hunters) being inspired by Ninja. Ulhan was like a Dark Knight with a spear since there was no Jump to make it Dragoon in 12. I typoed 12 in place of 11. That was my mistake that I need to edit. I wrote the response on ipad where I am super typo prone. There were Bangaa Dragoons randomly fighting things in 12 though… I don’t think there were any Beast Masters though.
To add to the original comment, Beastmaster in 11 was one of the most over powered jobs in the entire game. You could charm pretty much any enemy that roamed the open world, including ones that would absolutely destroy you if you were to fight it by yourself and without a party. So, using an even matched or stronger charmed monster against other slightly weaker monsters that you were supposed to be fighting in a party of 6 other people in order to level up and gain experience, except entirely by yourself as a Beastmaster was ridiculously over powered. Every other Job (besides Red Mage) pretty much had to group up with other players in order to level up because of how strong regular overworld monsters are in 11. Experience points were divided in half on per-person basis depending on how many people were in your Party. In a full 6-man group, you'd get 1/6th of the exp from defeating an enemy. Beastmaster received the full 100% because they just didn't need to party with other players the majority of the time, and when they did group up, it was very often with another Beastmaster, lol. TL;DR - BST was hilariously OP in 11 for decades and it seems to be a running theme that BST is meant to be that way. The form it's going to take when it arrives in FFXIV soon proves it.
@@GossipGeist yeah… it’s sad it had to be developed that way as it was intended for party play. But the developers in 11, especially Hiromichi Tanaka didn’t understand why it was considered a solo job. Tanaka should never have been allowed to touch job balance because he was overly concerned with historical identity within the series over game play balance. The developers thought Beastmasters were antisocial instead of forced to play that way due to stigma brought on by Brady Games. Balancing in 11 was so bad with their nerf anything that doesn’t fit approach. Ninja is the one instance they caved on and didn’t force it to dps and allowed it to be a main tank as players made it to be. 11 was wild times.
@@wizcatcheslightning Just goes to show that pokemon wasn't the first to do anything but the combination of what they used i.e. monster rangling and turn based combat, paired with creature designs was a win that made them one of the biggest franchises on the planet, and there's nothing wrong with that. It was. Someone commented and elaborated on it further. That was my bad, but if we’re discussing games’ releases chronologically, Cait Sith’s design is directly inspired by FF5’s beastmaster, a maybe one or two nods to certain characters in FF6
@@Someguyonline7732 I was elaborating on a mechanic seen in the character’s battle design with my own insight from a fighting game where I noticed similarities. Using familiarity to describe an idea that might be unfamiliar to some: a disjointed attack

@@wizcatcheslightning no you’re right Aerith definitely takes more, I have atb boost, skill master and first strike on her PLUS I have to use one of her synergy skill (usually spell blade lol) before she starts dominating the battlefield I just get a little confused by how the Moogle behaves sometimes is all knowing but you’re definitely spitting fax in his solo legendary bout Moogle Kaboom into his Dodge and Dive was goated but I think I had too much trouble with the rest of his enemies to really enjoy the gameplay and learn him properly I still have a long road of hard mode ahead of me so yeah I’ll learn every character eventually
@@muslihinomar1353 I understand your confusion and I think I know what’s causing it. It’s the dodge. You can’t avoid moves unless you split from the Moogle. But this is actually the cool part about him once you get the hang of things. It’s like learning any new skill: it takes a bit of time. cait sith is easily th best glow up in gaming history- while im not great with him- i can immediately say hes no longer on the bench- which is the ideal place for a character im expected to play as needs to be at. ff7 (97) was perpetually on the bench i would have whole playthroughs where i dont so much as reequip him. just cause id rather have vincent or barret or red and i bench red after the first disc pretty much- so even with an older character moving to the bench he didnt sneak into my rotation once. XD rebirth though i actually use him in coliseum matches
Right? So good
Tifa Aerith Cait Sith is the strongest party in rebirth but it's obviously hard to pull off.
Tifa has Starshower buff the next attack, Yuffie has Art of War to buff itself and other abilities for a limited time, Red has a ton of contextual abilities where effectiveness depends on the Vengence Gauge, party HP, his own HP, and party ATB
The game almost has an information overload issue that makes it easy to miss things with how many systems, characters, abilities, materia, baked in mechanics, synergy combos, party combinations, and affinities are going on
why did bro mention smash lol
@@gymleaderfern there’s a desync/disjointed attack mechanic that Cait Sith has as a passive ability similar to what Ice Climbers can do
Yea I meant more visual and audio cues and less item descriptions.
The opening almost made me feel bad I trashed DQ to you the other day…
Almost
😆
Beast master was a staple job in ff11 as well
Beastmaster is in FFXI and is fantastic.
Oh yeah people were telling me about it. There’s a great thread about it somewhere in here. I would encourage you to look for it
CAIT SIIIIIIIIITH
I love that Scottish cat
@ thumbnail: 🖼️Anyone else take mild issue with other characters holding the buster sword? Always imagined it as a 200lb piece of steel exclusively for super soldier 🪖
not really, most people in this world are not normal and can do superhuman feats.
I think it’s supposed to be made of a pretty light material and is probably around 80~100 pounds but I think it’s fair to see characters holding it. It’s another story to see them wielding it lol
@@aegis5678 yea, moogle wields it like a fairy wand... But it's a robot I guess.
Subbed
Cait Sith's Legendary Combat Simulation was the 2nd easiest next to Aerith's Sim. Moogle Sentinel and Moogle Decoy makes Reeves 5 round bout very simple.
Was gonna make a joke about gambling with Cait Sith's limit break and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," but then I remembered that Motorhead's "Jailbait" sounds like FF7's "Fight On!"
FFXIV: Dawntrail is bringing back Beastmaster :)
I just puta First strike on Cait Sith, to be able to summon the moogle right from the start of a fight.
Not a bad move 😗
Auto Unique Ability is also great on him. He calls the Moogle automatically all fight long
@@devon9374 Why not both and adding a Crescent moon charm for good measure?, To keep Cait Sith active while controlling other characters for ATB Assist..
Not sure if Creascent Moon Charm applies to Moogle as well as Cait Sith itself.
He rolls...???
THAT"S HOW HE RUNS?????
I NEED TO BUY THIS GAME
Wow. I, uhhh, really missed the mark there 😅
Thanks a ton for clarifying all of that! I don’t remember the beastmaster job in Tactics Advance. Where was it in 12?? I should’ve known better about Relm. Maybe I can expand on that in the future. Relm, Strago, and Gau have always kind of fascinated me.
It also technically appeared in X-2 as the trainer, but very different. And 4 Heroes of Light.
Wooow, I didn't even think of beastmaster from 5 pre-dating pokemon, I just completely forgot ff5 came out way before, yet it's so obvious.
And around the same time, Dragon Quest V had monster wrangling but I believe Shin Megami Tensei was the first to do it
@@wizcatcheslightning Just goes to show that pokemon wasn't the first to do anything but the combination of what they used i.e. monster rangling and turn based combat, paired with creature designs was a win that made them one of the biggest franchises on the planet, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I now want to replay ff5 (specifically coz I didnt finish it) and play with beast tamers.
@@michaelberresford4291 they’re pretty cool and under-explored. But new Cait Sith is a return to glory for them. Also, I’ve been told the beastmaster job class in ffxi is busted. There’s a comment thread on it in this video. Pretty neat read.
Game: "Cait Sith's moogle"
Me: HE HAS A NAME 😢😢
Furreal? What is it?
@@wizcatcheslightning Four months later and you will probably know already, but if my memory works the moogle is called Mog.
I used Red Yuffie and Cloud for the dual summon and gilgamesh fight
The power of IRISH ACCENTS GIVES ME POWER
Scottish
Hold on *cough*
The power SCOTLAND GIVES ME POWER
Thanos" perfectly broken, like all things should be"
Wasn't Beastmaster a job class in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance as well?
It was. Someone commented and elaborated on it further. That was my bad, but if we’re discussing games’ releases chronologically, Cait Sith’s design is directly inspired by FF5’s beastmaster, a maybe one or two nods to certain characters in FF6
15:15 that "spectacular", u should really consider edit and replace with Cait Sith's loveless dialogue when he say it
Ha! It's too late now :p
sith in name is not random😂😂😂
Firstttt
Hey is that a Heartland Showdown Top 8 qualifier AND the best Pikachu west of the Mississippi in the comments? 👀
I really hated the smash bros segments
What do you hate about them?
They felt completely unnecessary and unrelated to the topic matter, shoehorned in.
@@Someguyonline7732 I was elaborating on a mechanic seen in the character’s battle design with my own insight from a fighting game where I noticed similarities. Using familiarity to describe an idea that might be unfamiliar to some: a disjointed attack
@@wizcatcheslightning I enjoyed those segments! Great video.
I hate cait sithe for his betrayal so he’s on the bench
As a former Cait Sith hater I can’t blame you
I HATE cait sith he gets to sit in Tifa’s lap during a bumpy car chase we all know it should have been me!!!!!!!
Okay good video ngl but this still can’t convince me to play him he feels too finicky tbh
😆 glad you liked it. Maybe if you’re bored one day, you know, give him a shot. Having First Strike materia on him helps you not feel the brunt of his start up. But if you think about it, Aerith takes arguably longer, if not requiring the same time commitment to get started. Just some food for thought, but no pressure
@@wizcatcheslightning no you’re right Aerith definitely takes more, I have atb boost, skill master and first strike on her PLUS I have to use one of her synergy skill (usually spell blade lol) before she starts dominating the battlefield
I just get a little confused by how the Moogle behaves sometimes is all knowing but you’re definitely spitting fax
in his solo legendary bout Moogle Kaboom into his Dodge and Dive was goated but I think I had too much trouble with the rest of his enemies to really enjoy the gameplay and learn him properly
I still have a long road of hard mode ahead of me so yeah I’ll learn every character eventually
@@muslihinomar1353 I understand your confusion and I think I know what’s causing it. It’s the dodge. You can’t avoid moves unless you split from the Moogle. But this is actually the cool part about him once you get the hang of things. It’s like learning any new skill: it takes a bit of time. I’ve never mapped the quick abilities to my party, because I love getting turn based about my approach. Cait Sith is the only character that I have a quick ability mapped to and that’s Let’s Ride, so I can get back the ATB he lost to summon the Mog by hitting enemies with it. Also, just keep in mind that once he’s out, you can use the triangle button as the reverse of how Aerith uses her warp shift. Meaning: you can warp the Moogle to you to do what you need to do, dip out, and repeat the process
I seriously hate Cait Sith in Rebirth, used him once. Switched back to Aerith
Spend more time with him before you knock him
@@wizcatcheslightning used him more to get through some enemy intel junk, bro I seriously just don’t like him at all I don’t hate him. But I’d rather just use Yuffie & Aerith
@@wizcatcheslightning like he is strong and definitely broken but he dies too easily for me to actually want to use him
@@dexter._.7096 I hear ya. I think he’s more fun than either of them once you get the hang of things. At least you tried
@@wizcatcheslightning I won’t like he was fun!!! Like seriously I was knocking them down one by one after getting the hang of it I might use him more but not try and keep him for most battles
While I'll never play rebirth/FF7 R in the original game if you can't Rig the game over slot then he's pure CRAP and isn't worth using and in the FF7 remakes KoTR is NOT usable YET.
Wait for Part 3. Let ‘em cook 😎
@@wizcatcheslightning late response but this guy is a troll for RPGs everywhere
He looks cool, but I can't bring myself to play him.
I refused to play him after the temple 25+ years ago, And with the exception of a traumatic Shinra mansion in Rebirth I haven't played him since.
I hear what you say and he looks busted, but I hate the mother flipper.
My other video on him may just change your mind
lol. Cait Sith is the best in rebirth. It's just pure charisma the entire game.
I still hate Cait Sith.
Sorry didn't like him in the original and don't like him now
