Hello Kris and Mike, thank you for all your information! Great video on the weather across Ecuador, we really understand more about what it's like in different parts of the country. We decided to check out Ecuador next year instead of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, mostly because of the weather. Mexico is getting too hot and expensive for us! We were wondering if you could make a video in regard to safety in Ecuador. Gabi mentioned that safety was not an issue where you live, but it would be if you lived in Guayaquil. The latest political events can be concerning. Recently, I watched a RUclips video about an increase in crime in various cities with expats and tourists (like Manta, homes broken into, cartel increased activities...) I can't wait to see and experience Ecuador, but my husband needs a little more convincing 😉🙏 You two are so inspiring! I hope we meet someday.
Thanks for watching. We have two videos on crime. Check them out. Also I would suggest coming down and see for yourself. Most people are and feel safe here. However a visit will determine how you feel.
@@KrisandMike, hoping to retire in 6 months and end up in southern Ecuador soon after that. Your transparency and authenticity are inspiring to my wife and me.
Thank you so much for doing this video! There aren’t many, if any videos like this as far as I’ve researched. Too bad the agent is located in Olon. Finding reliable, informative people is difficult anywhere, especially in a new country. I tried to search your channel for the other “Buying a property”. You mentioned you have another one and it’s doing great. Do you mind sharing the link with me? I have a couple of more requests for your next videos; hiring a contractor to either fix your house or build your house. How would one go about finding a reliable trustworthy contractor? Also, there isn’t any video, again as far as I’ve researched, on banking in Ecuador. I’m from Canada as well, and I’m confused and scared because I really don’t know what are the methods, options, etc for transferring your money to Ecuador, their banking system, the charges, etc. So, it’ll be great to hear your experience and knowledge on how you planned before moving to Ecuador, what bank you used, what kind of account do you wire, use debit card, credit card for everyday shopping, and any information that could help people who want to move or travel to Ecuador from Canada. Thank you so much for helping us.
Thanks for watching. Here is a link to the actual channel. Here you can see all 30 of our our videos. youtube.com/@KrisandMike?si=b1HeqTRWPq-y3OWx We also have a video coming on building or renovation.
So timely! I'm considering making an offer on a condo very soon, so I'll likely come back to sign two PoAs- one for the property and another for my Visa facilitator.
I honestly cannot see any upside to buying versus renting here in Ecuador. It's so easy to buy, yet so many have a great deal of difficulty when they want to sell to recoup their investment. Given the political instability and the potential need to move elsewhere, we prefer to travel light and not get entangled.
@@rvdareyet7201 Certainly for an investment point of you I totally agree. But there are many other reasons why people would like to own a home. Check out our video on why we bought a house and not rent. People are different thank goodness 🙏. Thanks for watching
Loved the video, thank you. These laws change so much from country to country. I have a favor to ask. Would it be possible for you to give us weather reports for when El Niño hits? I'd like to know how that area is affected. I know that there will be flooding in coastal areas, and Id loke to get a better feel of the Olon-Ayampe area. Thank you!
Sure we will have a few videos when it hits. Expect November to maybe March. So far effects have been positive in this location. Normally this time of year is heavy clouds and cool. It is warmer and sunnier now. When the rains come in December which usually happen at night. They will be much harder and stronger. Thus flooding and washing out roads and possibly landslides.
@KrisandMike awesome! On a real-estate-non-truly related question: do you know if sewer water is treated by where you live? Or do they just shoot raw sewage into the ocean? If so, would anyone in your circle know long would this pipe be? Thanks!
But what if you wanted to buy a property to become self-sufficient or to build a home on out in the countryside, or you wanted to buy a “doer-upper” i.e., buy a home in a suburb and renovate it yourself or pay someone to help you?
properties very negotiable ????? Curious how much you paid for your house?? if you want to divulge ?? it was an ABnB ??? affects price ? People wanted out ?

Gabi is the best! Highly recommend, even if you're looking to rent and not buy. She helped us find an awesome rental!
Rental video out Tomorrow. Will you recognize when you are mentioned lol?
Kris and Mike
i love your adorable doxies. Best dogs ever.
The reason they are on our laps is they were in bark mode and we had to stop filming a bunch of times. Lol. But yes we love them 💕
Wow great video. Thanks!
Thanks 👍

Hi Mike, you mentioned POA for your Visa .. can you recommend an ATTORNEY who specializes in Expat Visas for Ecuador ?
I have a couple. One on the coast and the other in Quito. What would you like?
I'll be arriving in Guayaquil
Can you provide the link to view Ecuador MLS?
mls-ecuador.com/en

What's your opinion on Ecuador itself? Is it a tourist economy?
Pretty diverse for a small country. Oil, mining, agriculture cocoa, bananas, shrimp and tourism.
@@KrisandMike interesting, you also mentioned earthquakes and flooding? Ecuador have a monsoon season or something?
How do you get the money from Canada to Ecuador to put down on a house?
Wire transfer with your Bank. The biggest issue is getting a good rate on the exchange. Players like Knightsbridge provide this service.
Do dehumidfiers cost as much to run as AIR C ?
Many air conditioners have a dehumidifier mode which runs cheaper. It is great for this time of year.
whats the best method of paying, i'd assume in ecuador, people want cash?
Yes for a house. Cash. Thanks for watching
properties very negotiable ????? Curious how much you paid for your house?? if you want to divulge ?? it was an ABnB ??? affects price ? People wanted out ?
Sorry not sharing price but yes houses are negotiable. And depends how motivated sellers are. Some more than others.

license or not doesnt matter in ecuador its a free for all
Yes most do not have a license. Thanks for watching
On the states realtors only Rep. The seller unless buyer contract's a agent called a buyers agent.
👍
James, True. most buyers dont know that.
I would be more inclined to hire someone who is NOT licensed, since I don't like govt institutions.
