Thanks for this very level-headed assessment. It's important that people who have actually been there to give their accounts of the conditions on the ground. I live just outside Washington, DC in the U.S.. Depending on what reports you read, I would live either in a country club or a war zone. In my case, it is neither. Great video. Much appreciated.

We just returned from Ecuador. Three weeks in Quito, Cuenca and Galapagos. We felt safe all the time and realized how bad news impact the perception of people. We're from Ecuador and we traveled a little nervous about the situation. Now we feel completely different and started our plans of going back to Ecuador. Seeing you guys there and how you're enjoying our beautiful country makes our thinking on how we sometimes don't appreciate things until we lose them. Thanks for the videos, very inspiring.

You have confirmed the decision I made years ago about moving to Ecuador. I will be living in the Sierra. Unsure if it will be Vilcabamba (changes in the local culture make this one iffy) or Malacatos or somewhere near Cuenca - Paute? or ?? I will make another trip (my third in 7 years) for several months to buy a home in January. Possibly a small finca. I will keep you posted because, I would love to have you as guests when you make it up to the mountains. If nothing else, I would love to have you join me for dinner... Thank you so much for your videos. Helpful, positive and motivational...

I just put an on demand water system in my house in Calgary to the tune of almost $5500. Ouch. I asked if I could bring one back from Ecuador. My guy laughed and said a firm NO! It wouldn’t be CSA approved so they wouldn’t install it and insurance could be a problem if anything ever happened. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Your home looks beautiful. So glad that you two are loving life in San Jose and Willow is feeling better. Your other boy (Henry I think) markings are beautiful.

Glad you're all fine. Thanks for update. As a retired US citizen (naturalized US as a young boy) have started process of obtaining German citizenship, which would effectively give me EU citizenship. Part of expanding my options outside of the US. Central and South America are clear options as well.

I live in British Columbia on Vancouver Island have commented occasionally on your videos and I look forward to always getting that notification that you have a new one. I’m retiring with basically just my Canada pension and my old age so I know I definitely can’t do that on Vancouver Island and I’m so looking forward to my journey down there in February and I do hope to see you on the beach. Wanted to share with you that we bought ramps for our pup so she can safely climb onto the couch and or bed. The type we got is on the inside a hard foam, the steps are half rounded in shape so it’s between a hard squared off step and ramp. The covering is a very nice material that has a zipper so it can be removed and washed. A concern was how will it look, easy to move out of the way, and we actually use it to as an ottoman of sorts when we want to prop up our feet. Anyway, they are available on Amazon. Best regards 🐾

I am also glad to call Ecuador home now. You know the town Olon, they are doing a Thanksgiving dinner this thursday (USA) holiday at the Pink Iguana. I can't wait to eat a Thanksgiving dinner there. So cool they are doing this.

Yay on continuing the channel! This is the time of the year I wish I were someplace else, below freezing temperatures and we are getting to the shortest daylight of the year, 9 hours 31 minutes. Somehow I don't feel like I can make that move this time of the year. Somehow I feel like I have so much I need to do here in order to leave. I do keep getting several a week mailers from people that want to buy my house, any condition, leave everything I don't want. I hate the fact that I would lose money doing that but, more and more, I tell myself I would never miss the money. Right now I think I'm going to bide my time until spring, vastly shorten the list of things I have to do to leave, list the house to sell as is with a Realtor and go. Although Olon area would be my destination, I'm still able to ride a motorcycle, would see the Andes and Mindo Valley is a got to. I am a bird nerd and when I picture a peaceful place that is it, sitting a place with binoculars, looking for birds and not seeing a human being for hours. Also, tomorrow I have a tele-heath appointment with a random prescription writer to get a refill for the only prescription I take, half the starting dose of a diabetic drug. I checked to see my nurse practitioner, 73 days for her first available at any time appointment. I do know that as busy as she gotten all of my "care" will come from her staff and she'll just do a quick breeze through the room. The sad thing about it is, I've never reached the A1C level to be diabetic, my level was just borderline high 5 years ago when I started the drug. Since I'm taking a diabetic drug, I'm now labeled as a diabetic. That changes a lot in the US medical system. I have lots of reasons to leave.
