Celsius I got a clue on with the rhyme, 30 is hot, 20 is nice, 10 is cool, 0 is ice. This time of the year I envy the days on end with the temperature staying in the 70s Fahrenheit. I am happily a bird nerd and your Mindo video got me looking for more Mindo bird videos. I could spend a lot of time looking at birds. I do spend a lot of time looking at birds but, Ecuador is birds turned up to 11. Thanks for the videos. Take care.

@@KrisandMike I have found that you can attract a lot of birds and wildlife by allowing a brush pile on your property, half the size of a car will work. Actually I didn't find it. A lot of my ancestors were farmers and the farmers I knew left habitat for the wildlife. Anyway, we have just gotten past the Mockingbird mating season. Do you know what male Mockingbirds do during mating season. They sing all night long, loud. They love the brush pile so there's a bunch of them. On the plus side there are all the baby rabbits and they are darling. Ecuador is still tugging at me. I need to get busy getting there.
Easy way to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit
Add 15 and double it...
20 degrees Celsius add 15 = 35 x 2 = 70

Great video guys and looking forward to see the next videos your mentioned. We're Canadian also, planning on moving to Ecuador by May next year. We have a homesteading RUclips Chanel (Misty Mount Homestead) but decided to stop making videos, editing is time consuming and frustrating (we're not techies enough 😂), started to learn Spanish 3 months ago with Rosetta Stone app (doing well so far) committing to 1 - 1 1/2 hour a day. Gonna wait and see the big news from Josh and Jess, they seem very cool 😎 people. Thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge with us ! Cheers 🥂

As much as I hate the cold in Calgary, we do have the most sunshine in Canada. I’m not sure how well I’ll do if it’s grey and gloomy a lot although I’ll be Canada bound for the summers. I’ll be sure to get my dental work done beforehand. Even with my AHS benefits my dental is still crazy expensive. $180 just for a yearly cleaning after the benefits paid their portion!!
I hope poor Willow settles and you’re still able to travel. Love the beautiful painting!

Dentist in Canada is absolutely ridiculous cost. Cheaper to fly to Mexico and stay for 2 weeks and get your work done their and it’s still cheaper. Even with 2 good insurance plans the dentist will charge you money….just a filling is about $400…crowns are $1500-$1800…
I’m very shocked more Canadians don’t just see a dentist when they go for a vacation. Mexico is about 25% of Canadian prices. Malaysia is about 15% and Thailand is about 17% of the cost in Canada…
So true. I think the issue is so many Canadians just have no idea that there is a whole world out there with excellent cheaper healthcare

As to birthdays, ecuadorians decorate the wall, put a table in front with the cake. Everyone stands between the decorated wall and the table for the photo. It's so cute, they all do it. My teeth cleaning in Riobamba is $30. Young lady dentist cleans my teeth, not a hygenist. Takes her almost an hour. The most thorough cleaning I've ever had. They even make you wear these booties over your shoes. You guys are my favorite ecuadorian youtubers. I enjoy the news show and especially the graphs and data😂 too.

Thanks. We are still learning so much. Multiple times to grow here but a lot depends on elevation and time of year.

Ok, love watching you guys and I have a great impression of Ecuador, but tell me about the snakes. Your garden looks very lush and green...any snake encounters? If so, what kind and how do you handle that?
One small snake encounter. Lol. It was a vine snake. Kris thought it was a vine so was pulling it off our fence. No issues. The thing to note is snakes don't like us either. We hardly ever see them. Maybe three times in a year and a half. Thanks for watching.

That mural is beautiful, but it's very surprising that an artist seems to be making more money than a dentist or a veterinarian. I realize the medical clinics see multiple appointments every day, but they also have support staff to pay, rent and utilities for their office, medical equipment, etc. I'm in the USA and my most recent trip to the veterinarian was to have a urinalysis and blood work rechecked for my dog, who has a chronic medical condition. For the recheck appointment we only see a technician, not an actual doctor. I was surprised to see a new fee of $99 for the veterinary technician to collect the samples 😳😳. The total cost of my recheck...with no contact with an actual veterinarian...was $700 😭😭😭.
Interesting point. The artist worked for 3 days and clients tended to be people here with money or communities. Also they don't get work back to back. It's not full time for them.

Right in Olon. Choice of Dentists and Doctors. 10 minutes away is a small clinic/hospital in Manglaralto. Decent hospitals are 1 hour and the best specialist s are 3 hours.

I am seeing on the news about the War on Drugs and the state of emergency in 7 provinces, i would not feel safe to move down there!!! I was thinking of retiring there but don't feel comfortable to purchase property with the unstable economy, and political issues!!

Kris and Mike, I was wondering, how did you decide on the location on the coast? Is there a big difference in the weather or terrain west or east of Manta? Please excuse the ignorance.
We are not big city people and we really enjoy lush vegetation so that knocked out the Manta area as well as Salinas area. Now as you go north of Manta it does become more lush and if you get off the coast and move to the east of Manta, it is also more lush there as well. Now of course if you have more lushness that means you're getting less sun and more rain. So it really depends on exactly what you want and that'll help decide where you're going to live. If you are thinking of the Manta area though, I would pay close attention to what's happening right now on the crime front and you may want to delay a little bit until we see which way it's going to go up there. The rest of the countrie is doing pretty well and going in the right direction
I hate dentists. Once this year.. hadn't been in 12 years before that. I think if it ain't broke you don't need to fix it!! I spent 2k on a root canal. I was desperate. I will travel out of country for the next trip to the dentist. I can go and have a vacation as well with 2k.

How are the power outages now? Still rolling blackouts like in other areas of Ecuador?
All the scheduled ones are over and no more are planned. Now we just have unplanned outages. Lol. Not too bad tho. Every few weeks so nowhere near what we had before.

how about how a Candian can start the process for moving as do we need to get the proof from Gov as to how much we get? and what other papers we need, wondering if we must get these ourselves? Thanx
