    Riley and TJ - I think this video is the culmination of all of your hard work. I finally can see how I want to move and when and how the "hit" happens. Your demonstration of how to go from the end ot the transition to the "hit" was your best explanation of this critical phase of the swing. Many thanks, Tom

    This finally explains why my efforts to improve my inside-takeaway have felt so frustrating. My hips were working the opposite way, and I had even developed a trigger-move that made that even harder to overcome. Back to square one on this, thanks for the great work!

I at some point guessing to help me turn got into a bad habit of turning hips to soon in the back swing and it's been killing my swing! I love the visual this video gives and I'm gonna try to turn this into a drill and just chip balls to get this feeling so I don't just flail my hips open on the backswing

    Hi Guys, great video as always and I'll be in my Sim room over winter practising this hip ccw technique as a small trigger to initiate the backswing. Question....in the Secret Swing Sequence video released a couple of months ago you advocate lateral rib chest as the initial trigger for the backswing, can you help me understand the reasoning for the two different triggers?

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  11 месяцев назад +2

      The main purpose of both is to move off the ball laterally… what we have found with many players when they attempt rib sway is they rotate the pelvis early in backswing which effects the midline in the opposite manner than requested in this video. BOTH can be effective triggers if done properly 👍

    Great stuff gents, great feels here. Action breeds reaction. Also understanding the drop before transition or into transition is actually the bump that all other instruction implies. From a 2D face on view the drop is the bump hips to target. Question for you guys, I have always struggled with early extension or as you’ve stated in this video a swinger. I want to be a hitter, should I feel my back to target through the P5 position to stop the opening up of torso too early? Love your instruction guys

    • @elitegolfschools

      So glad you mentioned this! It is absolutely something new that we have been implementing. However, it is absolutely not something that is a must for all players, Rib sway is also a great way to start a golf swing, we simply see people try to sway and screw up the pelvis in doing so. I would suggest trying the hula hoop feel to start and then feeling rib sway/chest rotation to follow. Definitely gets the pelvis moving in a different and improved direction for most@@piping35

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  9 месяцев назад

      Fantastic! And they are both lateral moves. Biggest thing in the lateral action is NO rotation. We see a lot of players who early open up on both the away and forward swings and it whacks out their action. This simply ensures that the player doesn’t early unwind in the backswing

  • @JimmyVespe
    @JimmyVespe 8 месяцев назад +1

    Great stuff guys. I did this stuff back in the mid 90s when I was winning on the mini tours but got away from it. Didn’t really understand the why it was working. Quick question which I think I know the answer. At P5 conventional wisdom has the hips square to the target line. But in old videos of Hogan he would appear to have closed hips at P5 but his torso was more unwound. His positioning is best described by your teaching. So square at P5 may be more akin to swinging than hitting. Thoughts?

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  8 месяцев назад

      Yes and no, I think we see either dependent upon the length of backswing in the lead arm line. Either positioning of the knee line can be effective if applied correctly! And, congrats on success as a pro. Not many have the career you’ve had my friend! ❤️

    I take the club inside (and under the setup plane) but I do not end up throwing the club onto the top of that setup plane when I'm transitioning. I hear you suggesting that the "instrument" is thrown on top of the setup plane as a consequence of taking the club inside in the backswing, but there is nothing in a golf swing that prevents a golfer from shallowing, and keeping the instrument under the setup plane, even if they pull the club inside. With so many manipulations needed, to seek your suggested timing and movements, I don't believe an inside backswing is a death sentence even if someone takes your two pivot approach (as a hitter), as the pivots both happen as the instrument is slowing and reversing direction.

    • @elitegolfschools
      @elitegolfschools  11 месяцев назад +2

      They are both effective ways to move pressure laterally. What we’ve seen get players in trouble with swaying the ribs laterally is an unintentional early rotation of the midline in the initial swing, throwing the club under plane and moving forces in inappropriate directions

    Riley - I have a follow-up question for you. It seems to me that EGS and the wonderful Milo Lines, who I have taken lessons with, agree on most points. However it now is clearer to me that you two disagree on what happens through impact. My understanding is that MIlo prefers a pulling motion that is the result of a dynamic clearing of the left side of the body all the way through to an athletic finish that slings the club through impact. (He hits it a ton with this motion). Whereas I now understand EGS prefers a similar body motion but wants the player to actively hit the ball using the arms and then be pulled to a finish by the momentum of the club/body. Am I understanding the EGS system? If not, please get me going the right direction. This confusion has held me back in my quest to make my golf buddies envious of the time I have spent with EGS.

I have tried this out but I get out of synch and it breaks down when I get to my longer clubs at 4 hybrid up to driver. To be fair I have only worked on it one practice session. What a great question and comment. So this is to manage the midline’s rotation while moving pressure laterally (as discussed in the previous video). If you watch Rory and Stenson you’ll see two different ways of doing this. Also, backswing and transition (as referred in this video) is just our language to attempt to help viewers see the golf swing in a certain light; what we refer to as the map in many videos.
