I tried this on my pc which has a Ryzen 7 5800x and RTX 3060ti with 16 gb of ram at 3200 mhz, ran a test on 16, 2a, and 15. One test with the cpu undervolted and one without an undervolt. To my surprise the undervolted 2a and 15 performed better than the stock settings with 2a and 15. 16 was the only one that performed well and it performed better than all the other tests. I tested with the MW2 benchmark since that’s the game I’m currently playing right now. To verify, I also played a game on the same maps and 16 no undervolt still performs great. Noticeable latency decreases from the average pc latency in GeForce Experience. Before I changed, the latency was at 17ms after it was at 12-13ms which is significantly better. FPS seemed much more stable on High settings with FSR 2.1 balanced, before the fps would randomly drop to 115-125 fps but after using 16 it doesn’t drop too far down or stutter anymore. Avg fps is now 150-165.
I have same cpu with a 2070 super you think you can help me do it
Gonna try this as soon as I get home, thx for this incredible content!

Panjno, we need a new video on windows 11 optimization tweaks for smooth gaming , and removal of all sorts of bloatware in it.
value 15 works for me just fine! ultra smooth game play on apex legends thx mate!
So all this is doing, is adjusting your windows priority for certain programs? Why not just do a video on a program called Process Lasso Pro? its basically the god version of task manager for your computer. You can get CPU priority, CPU affinity, I/O priority, Memory priority and it even comes with its own Power Plan for windows. Its an amazing software and it basically does everything I see in most "Optimize your PC for gaming" videos.
I got like 15 more frames thx

Used CapFrameX on the entire FPS Benchmark map (112 seconds btw) and default value "2" performs best for me, also Ryzen 5600X, 2 wins over the value "16" it's 0.7-1.9% better on 1% lows and 3.6-4.8% on 0.2% lows. @@__MU_MU__ How much value should I place? So that it prevents the values from being automatically changed and returned to 26?
Testing this tweak on 2 different systems (a bloated one with background programs and a highly optimized one) gathered some interesting results. The bloated one performed better with the "gaming" values and the optimized one performed better with the "productivity" values. Gaming values had no effect on the debloated optimized system, 26 and especially 2a gave a significant boost to input responsiveness and eliminated any microstuttering. Same effect on the bloated one with the value 16.
Apparently on a highly optimized system gaming values do nothing because quantum and foreground boosts are already focusing on the game you're playing. Using a "background apps" value seems to improve overall performance thoughput somehow.
Both systems use zen 3 Ryzens btw.
if im using a custom debloated windows 10 iso should i use 2a?
So you could do a second backup after you find the best settings so you can toggle on and off.i personally don't mess around with settings like this but good luck to you

@Obese boy123 The foreground process is that which has the keyboard and mouse focus. This means there is only ever one foreground process at a time, per user session. Windows already applies foreground boosting by giving the foreground thread longer time slices. Further increasing the priority of the foreground process and/or the specific foreground thread is not only ineffective, but harmful. Remember, giving a process a higher priority does not mean it will run faster. It simply means if several processes are active at once, it will have a higher precedence. However, if any single process has too high a precedence over other processes, as foreground boosting would result in, complications can occur.
I just did a clean windows 11 pro install and its on just 2. Not 2A. It used to be 26 before i did a reinstall. Not quite sure why but im qurious to see if it gets worse or better changing it back to 26, or 2A not just 2. Whats the difference between 2 and 2A?

Both steps keep reverting upon reboot for me. System Properties > Performance Options > Advanced > select Programs and it reverts back to Background services every time I reboot my PC. I tried logging in as a local admin account as well and changing the setting there, but it didn't help. And that seems to cause the Hex value to also revert back to 26 even though I keep setting it to 2a. How do you find this stuff!! Amazing man.
what value would be better for the i5 11400f with and rtx 2060?
I was able to increase from 113 to 117 on iracing using value 16 instead of 2
The stock default value is 26(38) for normal windows and 24(36) for server editions.
2 is not a valid value but with the default settings it equals to 26(38).
Valid values are these (in decimal):
20 = Long, variable, no foreground boost (12:12)
21 = Long, variable, 2x foreground boost (24:12)
22 = Long, variable, 3x foreground boost (36:12)
24 = Long, fixed (36:36) --> [server default, optimizes background processes]
36 = Short, variable, no foreground boost (6:6)
37 = Short, variable, 2x foreground boost (12:6)
38 = Short, variable, 3x foreground boost (18:6) --> [windows default, optimizes foreground processes]
40 = Short, fixed (18:18)
The numbers in parateses are the amount of quantum time CPU will give for the processes. Higher quantum = more performance.
22 gives even higher quantum than the default value for foreground apps. In practice, 22 is the best for games but depends on the game and other programs you use.
Actually, after a clean windows install, it has the value set to 2. But when you switch to background it becomes 18 and back to programs it goes to 26. I dont know why it uses 2 unless you change it. It even says its on programs, but all you have to do select background then back to programs and apply for it to disappear. The only way to make it 2 again is to set it manually or use process Lasso and use "let windows decide".
What about competitive games? 22 has insanely bad mouse feeling in compare to 25 value
@@RicardoMilosGachi I play valorant with 22 for a long long time and I have no issues at all. I play on low graphics settings. I've played with ryzen 1600AF and 5800X3D on a 165hz display.
Now change it to 25 or 40 and see the insane 'TenZ' be like flicks you can make. To me the difference is night/day, so I usually stick to 16(22) for single player games, while 25/40 for competitive@@omerakgoz34
Question for the knowledgeable amongst you, could I effectively rely on my GPU usage if I cap my frames to 144 instead of going through all that hassle with the benchmarks?
Benchmark your system as a whole. GPU usage alone is unreliable because tweaking settings could increase GPU usage without actually increasing performance. The whole of your system determines performance. No one part of the whole should be a stand in for the whole or else you are relying on an incomplete picture.

Hmm... what actually stopped all micro stutters in games for me was to enable gsync+vsync on in the nvidia control panel, set "virtual pre rendered frames" to "let the 3D application decide" and turning Low latency mode to ULTRA and threaded optimization to OFF. Cap FPS to -3 my monitors refresh rate using RTSS because with my observation nvidias framerate limiter causes Frametime spikes which means micro stutters which RTSS does not, also GPU scheduling enabled in the windows settings and also disabling HPET. With having done all of this my pc runs flawless with RARELY ever seeing any micro stutters. For context my rig is a Ryzen 7 5800x, 16gb 3200 mhz ram, RTX 3080. Oh and i use "creator mode+PBO" in ryzen master i dont know if that helps as well but with all of these enabled its been hella smooth.. Edit:TURNING OFF Low latency mode helps with frametime spikes, sorry i forgot to mention that. use OFF not ultra.
