Beautiful video! Such spectacular scenery. I understand why most gliding videos are made at mountain soaring sites. However, because of mountain soaring videos, much of the public has the false impression that gliding only takes place in the mountains. It would be great if there were more videos showing soaring in non-mountainous areas.

Let's say i'll not buy a new car, i got 15k€ to buy a first glider, which one would it be, do you have advices ?
That is not so easy. The choice is quite big, I think. For €15k you can get older aircraft in the club class. Maybe an LS1 d, or something similar. Depending on the condition, maybe a DG 100 with pendulum elevator. Unfortunately, I haven't paid much attention to the exact prices in the last few years.

That's great! It depends on the airspace and the weather conditions. Normally you can climb to appox. FL 195 which is approx. 6000m

Me, being a plumber, haven't the time or money.
Had a Cirrus deal set up to buy 40 years ago but the guy sold it to some rich dude 3 States away.
Haven't flown since.
In Germany it's not that expensive due to the club structure. I started gliding in the age of 13 wirhout money.
I suspect the poster is American, they dont believe in clubs where volunteers help others out. No wonder its expensive.

I couldn't imagine just being able to fly when you wanted. I still remember one of my favorite dreams as a kid was flying around my hometown, except I wasn't in a plane lol.

Krass. Krass. Krass. Als Flachlandflieger klappt mir da echt der Unterkiefer runter. Die Außenaufnahmen bei 4:20 sind atemberaubend - und erstaunlich stabil. Bei 100 kmh + die 360er-Cam aus dem Seitenfenster zu halten ist schon nicht ohne.
Danke danke danke. Komme ja auch als dem Flachland, wo der Deich die höchste Erhebung im Umkreis von 150km ist. Ich bin jedes Jahr aufs neue fasziniert von den Bergen.
Die Aufnahme bei 4:20 entstand aus einem vorn weg fliegenden zweiten Flugzeug
@@tobiasbarth Sieht man in der Güte wirklich selten. Meist zittert die Cam am Karbonstick im Fahrtwind oder man trifft den Flieger nicht wirklich in der Bildmitte oder er wird von der Sonne überblendet. Hier jedoch stimmt echt alles. Die Saison hier im Norden war wirklich bescheiden, wenn es mal nicht geregnet hat, war der Wind sehr stark und zerfetzte die Thermik oder die Wolkenuntergrenze lag bei gerade mal 1000 Metern. Solche Filme laden mich dann wieder auf :-) Abonniert! Grüße vom HAC Boberg in Hamburg!

Nein, ich glaub es nicht! Schon zig mal drübergeflogen (zuletzt auf dem Rückweg vom Currywurstfiegen Hodenhagen) und nicht wiedererkannt 😀 Holtdorfsloh gehört bei uns zu den zu den Zielen, die man während der Ausbildung nur mit Karte und Kompass finden muss. @@tobiasbarth
What if the engine quits? Then what?
If the engine stops on an unpowered aircraft, the pilot has a serious problem. We practice as much as possible on a daily basis to be prepared for such situations.
Its a glider or more accurately a sailplane. There is no engine.
