I love the fact that Risen has a stall speed with flaps down at 35 mph!
Range is also mind blowing
There are optional long range tanks. They can swap out the 2 x 43 litres for 2 x 100 litres. Then its good for well over 4000 km. Over 5000 km is possible if you trim it right back. With the 915 turbo engine it can haul the big tanks no problem and way more than 66lbs of payload. But with 912 its a bit of a struggle to take off fully loaded.
When its trimmed right back it sips just 6 litres per hour. so plan on over 30 hours of flight time. Ireland to USA is possible in about 27 hours.
That's insane dude!
That's insane. Don't suppose you know the max altitude of this bird.
Sounds good in theory and as a selling point, but not sure how practical that will be in the real world outside of setting distance records for marketing purposes. I think most owners will use it for short duration flights under 3 hrs, however it can still cover 500miles.
Hunger Surfer 😳
27 hours flight in a cramped space and half of it in pitch black over the ocean. Sounds like hell
Dear MojoGrip; Kind greetings from Canada! You do far better than excellent, very thorough, very professional and an always interesting introduction to such a wide variety of aircraft. You must spend a tremendous amount of time in preparing your RUclips videos. Thank you!
One of the most beautiful planes I’ve ever seen!
So awesome to see the actual creator/test pilot of this aircraft. Very inspiring!
I love the low speed takeoff and landing on a grass strip and the high speed economical cruise. That's the holy grail. Take off from your rural property (no hangar fees or driving to and from the airport) and fly anywhere in the world. If it was amphibious, it'd be a Rutan Skigull.
Just keep it away from the Longhorns in the pasture.
Was it on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic or did it go there and come back ?
WOW. That range is insane
Awesome. I live in Switzerland and never once heard of this aircraft. I must be crazy.
@mojogrip Emailed them about price you have listed. Not even close. Base is $193,000. Typical $232,000. Top tier is $256,000. EAB is only path right now requiring travel to Italy for two 2 week build sessions. Then you have to get it to the USA. It's a dream aircraft though. Low stall, insane cruise. When the LSA rules change it may be a top contender.
This plane is flawless and performs better than anything I’ve ever seen in contrast to competitors and even non linear competition. The engineering on display is next level
Absolutely beautiful. No. It's absolutely breathing. Such a marvelous aircraft. It's gorgeous. I love the design
Apparently the 915 version is now official. 400km/h level flight. 3000km range. Would be an interesting topic for a video

Love watching your videos, it allows me to"touch" a world I can't really access otherwise! Thank you!
These videos have inspired me to go to flight school and get my pilot license. This is incredible. As a college kid, I didn't know this world even existed until recently 😎
This is an argentinian engineer who has the dream to build a plane. And with time and hard work he conquer his goal.
All I can say is “WOW”. Thanks for the vid!
4000 km range, that's about 2485 miles. That's amazing considering you can do prince edward island to shannon airport in ireland is only about 3800 km (2415 miles).
It is amazing if this is true.
Nice. I thought this company went out of business. It looks like a very impressive plane
Here’s a reply I received from the factory in Italy... apparently your video arrows quite a bit of interest!
Thank you for your message.
A well equipped FG would cost €150K + €5K shipping to US.
We received this weekend over 100 requests for RISEN. It seems that the aviation community embraces our aircraft and that Mike of MojoGrip has a big audience!
Attached you find our pricelist, it's Excel. Just put an 'x' to add or remove options and it will update final price at the bottom.
The Risen is the RG model. Starting at €159K, but typical €190K (912ULS), €200K (912iS) and €210 (914T) depending options.
The Siren is the FG model at starts at €120K with more basic avionics, typical full spec Siren is about €150K (912ULS)
Also attached you find our brochure with some more info and the performance data on the last page.
We do not have a US representative at this stage. Our intention is to operate a builder assist facility in US.
Currently, US buyers order the aircraft directly from us her in Italy.
The Risen is an EAB (Experimental Amateur Built) aircraft and requires you to come to Italy a minimum of 2 times 2 weeks.
We are in the North of Italy, close to Como lake, close to Lugano (Switzerland) and places like Verona, Venice and Firenze are just a couple of hours driving away. So it's great to bring the whole family. Also Monaco, Cannes and Nice in France are really close.
So far the US pilots that participated in our built program have been delighted about the experience. No special skills are required for building your aircraft and you will have absolutely the same build quality as a factory built RISEN.
This week we took another order from Germany, RISEN #22
Please note that same company has produced over 175 gliders of type: Alisport Electro, a self-launch electro glider.
People choose RISEN because they are attracted to the sleek appearance, the impressive V-tail and the very wide and comfy cabin.
Others are mainly attracted to the speed envelope and about 20% of the people order the aircraft with the optional ferry tanks (€4500). These people want to travel to place they could not reach with other aircraft models, at least not in same category. Just like Alberto crossed from Cabo Verde direct to Brazil, others want to fly to Australia or even a trip around the world.
Consider RISEN as your mini private jet, at a fraction of the cost and even a 400 yard grass strip is sufficient to get you in and out.
Other remarkable point is that some of our customers did not hold yet at pilot license and they trained on the RISEN, just to demonstrate how easy the aircraft flies. The V-tail mixer (pedals and stick mixer) is very well balanced, and as a pilot it's impossible to tell that you are flying a V-tail. No difference in feel and control whatsoever.
The visibility is another great thing, just wow. And what about getting too hot inside? During taxi you can leave the electric canopy slightly open. The prop wash entering the cabin keeps you cool, and once in the air, we have powerful vents connected to Naca scoops. On very hot days you can put a suction cup rail with a overhead curtain to protect you from direct sun.
But probably the most remarkable feature of the RISEN is its safety. With a glide ratio of 1:23 you basically have a glider when there is a engine failure or you run out of fuel. For example, if you fly in France above 6000ft, you always get to land to an airport or strip. In some regions in France, 4500ft is enough to always land on an airfield. This is simply amazing. On top of that we have the ballistic chute, a roll bar behind the cockpit and a lateral roll bar around the cockpit, just below the canopy line. The aircraft is 100% full carbon and tested up to 11G ultimate load at 1322lbs MTOW. We have dual spars for wing stability at high speed, fuel tanks are positioned between those spars, so very well protected too. All hinges (aileron, ruddervators) are triple and oversized.
If there would be one reason to choose RISEN, it definitely should be its safety!
The other big question.... Do we have a 915iS?
Yes we do and of course it has been already ordered by a US pilot. However, the aircraft is still being built (as EAB) and has not flown yet. So we cannot commit yet to a fixed delivery scheme.
Order process:
Slots can be reserved for €5K.
When kit is ready, we ask a 25% deposit. Then you come to Italy to assembly the kit, install controls, attach and align wings, ....
Next deposit is 40% when you come over 2nd time for engine installation, avionics, landing gear system, interior assembly.
As you can see, you do not pre-finance the aircraft. We always have the aircraft more advanced than the actual payments. This way we have no debts towards our customers. By the way, Porto Aviation Group is totally debt-free and we want to keep it that way!
About delivery time:
We will start in September the built of #20, October #21 and November #22. It takes typical 6 months from start to finish.
Next available slot is #23 with a start in January 2021.
Hope this clarifies a bit.

Excellent information! The video and the info on this letter will do more for sales than any air show appearance! ;-)
All that performance and efficiency...and it looks badass.
At a really nice price.
Looks like a plane I drew up 7 years ago. I love it, I've always like the way split-tails looked.
Never seen this plane before. Looks a bit like the Panthera. I like it.
Only a bit.. The Pantera has T-tail and is four place.
Looks like JMB VL3
@@mikhailkalugin9153 Yeah but VL3 is way slower and more expensive as well
No way the Panthers will slow down like this plane. It does look like it has Pipistrel DNA though.
Nice info on the Risen. A suggestion for future vids: you should really have your guest wear a lapel mic. It is very difficult to understand someone with a foreign accent combined with an echo chamber sounding audio. Maybe I'm the only one, but it is hard to enjoy the vid to its fullest when the audio isn't easily discernible.
let me guess:...... you are American.....; = right ?
This airplane appears to be a game changer- small displacement engine coupled to a slick aerodynamic airframe. The one characteristic I wanted to know about with this airplane- how is it’s stability around the vertical axis? Does the nose wander with the v tail arrangement?
Like the type of content on this channel but getting very sick of the inaccuracies and 'clickbait'. This plane is (the RG) is NOWHERE near 140k USD. Its actually 225k USD. Bit of a difference......
Got me to click at that price!🤷♂️
I agree... 99% of RUclips is like that. Annoying...
The base price with fixed gears and smaller engine would get it around that price
😳 for an ultralight? Ffs how to ppl afford this type stuff without being rich
@@ARyanCoke A question that needs no answer.
Waiting for the 4 seater!
Very nice, flying recliner. Great price point too
check out Panthera...

Brilliant, love her instantly. The large tailfins look great and makes handling like a performance glider on steroids. With those numbers, speed, range, et al. the tailfins are definitely not too much drag, well worth the added safety and it looks like a lot of fun to fly. I wasn't wild about V's until this plane. !
Crossing an Ocean with a Rotax powerplant is amazing!! Wow!!!!!
This seems like a great plane. I wish there was more information about it available: useful load, cabin heat, RG warning notifier, kit/certified...
Slow take off and landings and extreme efficiency. As a low hour pilot, stepping into a high performance plan is not a good idea...but this plane appears to be something you can fly within a variety of ranges and grow with it. If you're on a long cross country, you can step up the speed and get there fast then slow it down for the descent and landing. Seems like a great compromise for a pilot who wants to go places.
That's just great. Now I need one of these too. Why do you torture me like this. 😉
I feel you lol

You are correct. Though it says 1.24 cm it also says 48.5 inches, which is 4 feet 0.5 inches wide. Obviously, the cockpit is not 1/2 inch wide or 1.27 cm wide......it is 1.24 METERS wide or 4 feet 0.5 inches wide.

1:23 gliding ratio -- that's a typical training glider!!! The range can be much much bigger -- if you soaring during the day, and power during night, you might stay up several days !!!.
Very early gliders yes most training gliders in the past 30-40 years are more like 1:35/38 ie ASK21

Fantastisches Relaxed Flugzeug, wirklich starkes Design so wie wenig Sprit 7 L die Stunde, sparsamer Motor. 🌟
With a 1 to 23 glide ratio, you have 46 miles of range to find a suitable landing spot, in the rare event of engine failure. Incredible!
Pipistrel Virus SW has a 1:17 ratio and great stability in turbulence, but this is prettier.
You could start ridning thermals with that glide 🙂
@@thisismagacountry1318 The Virus has only about half the speed of this though...
@@suzukirider9030 Yes, but I'm highlighting the safety and stability in turbulence, not cruising speeds.
The Risen would be great with one of the new small turbine engines.
@@thisismagacountry1318 what are some light 2-seaters with turbine engines? I think I've seen one in a video, but only one was built as a prototype. Also fuel efficiency and engine longevity are of question...
Sure, putting a turbine engine can make many airplanes go faster, but at what cost?... The Rotax 912/914/915 are gas-sipperrs, relatively inexpensive (for aircraft engines anyway, heh). Most are for LSA (under 120 kts cruise), but here - getting something with decent speed and range built around one is epic!

In the EU it is an ultralight. It is a light sport aircraft in the US.
@@marco.9900 Not with a controllable pitch prop, that puts it out of the light sport catagory.

Should also mention that the Risen with Fowler flaps stalls at 30kn / 34mph... That's insane!!;-)

That is ridiculous!
That has to be the best top speed/stall differential out there, even knocking off a bit for the usual promo hype.

Man! I wish this thing could be registered as a glider
Yes THAT would be brilliant. 23:1 why not?
At 1:26 the guy said it burned 7 liters/hour which is 1.85 gallons/hour, however, at 5:14 when you’re listing the plane’s specs, you listed that it burned 5-7 gallons/hour. Is this a typo where you meant to say liters instead of gallons? I don’t mean to be critical. I love the channel. I’m just curious to know what the actual fuel consumption rate is.
I came here to get this answer too.
Don't apologize for "being critical"! That's a big mistake and worthy of clarification. There's a four-fold difference between the two so it's definitely good to ask. Since much larger/heavier Cessnas tend to burn closer to the latter, I am guessing this sleek plane burns 5-7 Liters/hour. Which is amazing, if true.
That is a gorgeous plane!
Nice characteristics. But what about the fact that the engine is inside the cabin (4:03)? Obviously 2 things I'm worried about are safety (CO2, fire) and noise. What do you think?
A firewall is a firewall, that one is just bigger, and mostly horizontal.
Look closer the engine is in front of the open avionics bay he is showing
don't worry too much. it is bad for your health. the Risen has a double firewall.
@@manfredlurie6656 Thank you sir :) However the question is indeed about safety and health. How many other GA planes you know that uses the same design? After all potential buyer's worry that is not properly addressed also bad for sales.

Cruising fuel economy when converting to miles and gallons is 67 mpg. That's better than my Prius! I don't fly but I'd love to get a pilot's license and fly this! It's an attractive aircraft and also low operating cost with a huge range for a small plane.
@MojoGrip Fuel consumption... 7 litres per hour (at 1:18 in video) or 7 gallons per hour (in the video description) ??
Yeah, not his first technical detail mistake in these films.
@@flexairz no it isnt that is 7 liters per hour or less than 2 gallons at 200 kph about 124 mph so kinda like an eco cruise

1 to 23 glide ratio, that is fantastic.
That is in meters.
CCotcamp it’s a ratio the unit doesn’t matter. For 1 meter down it goes 23 forward. Or foot or miles.
I agree it is fantastic though. Was just pointing it out.
Incredible engineering. Sometimes less is more.
Always thought the v-tail makes a lot of sense for these types of aircraft - the tail-planes of a conventional tri-tail (?) are in the wake of the wings which the v-tail's planes avoid, so theoretically it should be both less draggy and more stable and controllable, at least outside of extreme acrobatics/AoA (which isn't what small passenger aircraft are about)..
Where did the $140k number come from? Risen has it listed for $300k for their base model
Any chances for an electric version? This is a beauty!
