    TOWING Correction: Hi all, I confirmed with Cadillac that the RWD Version does NOT have a certified tow rating at this time. Sorry for stating a 2,000 lbs capability in my review. There are no official trailering provisions for the RWD version.
    Cadillac has told me that the MY23 AWD version, equipped with trailering provisions, can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
    ADDITIONAL Corrections:

    In the initial launch editions, I understand that there is no HUD. However, a Cadillac official says a HUD will be available later this year, possibly with similar, but not identical, augmented reality as seen in the Escalade. So I would expect it to be on 2023 models.
    Also, regarding rear heated seats, I thought I had seen switch controls and remember Cadillac stating that they would be coming with this feature. Turns out again, that the Launch Edition (which this vehicle was) will not have this feature, but in 2023 Cadillac will offer the Lyriq with heated rear outboard seats.
    I've learned that this comfort feature is not available for the Lyriq Debut Edition. Rather, it will become available later in the year for subsequent models as more trim levels are added to the all-new luxury electric crossover’s roster. It should be noted that the Debut Edition is based on Cadillac’s Luxury trim, which is considered the entry-level (base) model per the Y-trim level strategy.
    The Launch Edition is limited, with a production run of about 2,500-3,000 units. Other Trims will come out in 2023 with an anticipated production capacity of about 20,000 units. I understand these are sold out as well with reservations. Will have to watch to see how they can scale up.
    My thanks to a viewer for pointing this out, however even with my errors, I still hold to my review and believe the LYRIQ is a fantastic BEV that is a very worth choice, especially at the price point for what you get.

    Just about every review has been VERY postive so far. Well done video. I ordered one. I have six concerns: 1. Weight. 2. 5G implementation without the ability to turn it off 3. It's a first year vehicle and there will be issues. 4. It's not an 800v system so it won't be among the fastest to charge. 5. No rear wiper. 6. No bumpers! That front glass grill looks particularly vulnerable. This is a make it or break it vehicle for Caddy, so they better make damn sure it's nearly flawless and reliable over the long run. It's already a great value.

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. Congrats on ordering one, another tailpipe will be gone which is great as well as you joining the "Revolution".
      All good points, however I would suspect GM to stand behind the product so if any first-year issues arise, they will deal with it. All BEVs are heavy, which actually makes them safer. Bumpers are integrated into the chassis with larger front and rear crumple zones and stronger structural integrity providing greater side-impact resistance and the main thing, greater occupant safety. Let the car absorb the crash energy and smush, not the people inside the car. I'd rather have a car written off and walk away from a serious accident then the opposite. Cars can be replaced...people?
      It will have ample charging speeds for DC fast charging to keep you in a 30 minute or less scenario, with the applicable chargers, while road-tripping so no need for an 800v architecture. For the price point, it is a really great BEV. Thanks for the comments and feedback.

    Hey Ken, great review! Very detailed and thorough. I look forward to seeing the Lyriq in person. For production ramp that is all going to be dependent on battery cell capacity. Currently all of GM's NCMA cells are coming off of a low volume pilot production line (It's why Hummer EV production is low). This will all change in August when the Ultium Lordstown facility is supposed to start production. GM's EV strategy will unfold as battery cell capacity unfolds. Like the Mercedes EQS the Lyriq is going to need a DCFC that is capable of 500A to hit it's peak charging rate. That can be tricky to find (as even some 350KW stations are only rated for 350A @ 1000VDC). The Lyriq needs 500A at 380VDC to hit it's peak. I think most ABB and Signet units can hit that but most BTC Power are only rated for 350A.

    Thanks for this exceptional video Ken, it was wonderful to see the way you captured discussions with so many of the Lyriq developers. It's a very impressive and well designed EV, and it seems like a great value for the segment with the features and performance it offers. I heard there was no towing available with RWD which seems odd. I also heard AWD is expected to to be only 2k USD or 3k Cdn additional which sounds like a great value, as long as efficiency isn't too greatly affected.

    Ken, one thing that I need to point out to you about the LYRIQ. On the rear door when you press the door handle, there is a soft plastic pad to grab onto on the same level like the electronic door handle inside the door instead of touching the area of the window. Overall, enjoyed your long overview of the LYRIQ.

    Drove this (RWD) back to back against the respective bmw/Audi/model Y. Unreal how much cheaper the other three (interior) felt compared to lyriq. BMW definitely had more power than this single motor version but was very surprised that the Lyriq beat the BMW on handling around hard corners on a small track we tested it on. Very excited for the AWD to come out but hoping there are no more delays :-/

      Hello and thanks for watching. Good question. I most of the time do cover this feature. I believe since these were pre-production units which did not have the up to date software, the Super Cruise system was not enabled at that time, hence could not try it out.
      However, if you watch my Bolt EUV review from last year, you will see the system at work and it's basically the same experience.

    Did I hear that right? No rear windshield wiper? Were the engineers at GM drunk when they designed this thing?

    • @EVRevolution
      @EVRevolution  Год назад

      Thanks for watching. Yes correct, many are not providing rear wipers for CUVs/smaller SUV and some hatches. This is not uncommon as we can see examples of this going back to the 1970s. However, this seems to be the trend and designers are using wind and aerodynamics to do the job of clearing the rear window. We will see how this works in practical terms, but many other BEVs don't have rear wipers, like the Model Y as an example.
      No alcohol was used during GM's engineers planning sessions I can assure you.

      Who still uses CD's nowadays? I would imagine those wanting to take full advantage of a 19-speaker AKG Studio sound system...installed in a vehicle utilizing Next Generation Active Noise Cancellation technologies...while enjoying their favorite musical selections in an uncompressed audio format.

      @andresmith8931 I get it as I have a cabinet full of CDs. You could plug in a portable cd-player into the aux port, but very few new vehicles are coming with cd players now.

      @@EVRevolution The AUX port connected to an external disc player is a viable option - I wasn't aware the Lyriq had such an external audio input. I'm wondering if there is also a USB port the sound system can access so I could copy CD's to a USB stick for playback? Thanks for the info as there wasn't this level of detail mentioned during the review of the interior and cabin.

      Thanks for watching. If given the opportunity, I would welcome the opportunity to do that. Depending on the route, there is good coverage for L3 DCFC in most of the Continental U.S. and Southern Canada. Please ask GM to provide me with one and I will gladly do this trip.
      I can tell you that I did a 3,000 km (1,600 mi) road trip in my Tesla Model 3 in 2021 and had zero issues. Was a fantastic trip that cost about $150 for charging. No pain in the A at all!

      @@EVRevolution just FYI, my mum got a Tesla recently for an Uber ride - she couldn't figure out how to get in OR out. So, I'm quite positive my mum would have a similar complaint about this ridiculous design. I'm a chauffeur, and things like this are very important. Also, did it occur to you that folks who don't like the door handles simply bought a different vehicle? 😉

      Hi Greg, yes for the design I 100% agree. My mum as well can never figure out how to get into my Model 3. That is why I added 3M Stickable Door Handles to my Model 3. They work great and make it very easy to get in. No one ever needs instructions on how to open the doors! Something I am sure my end up being available as an aftermarket as well for the LYRIQ.

      Thanks for watching John and appreciate passion and comments. To each his/her own, and IMO the LYRIQ is a fantastic BEV with a lot of features at that price point. I think it looks great, others may not feel that way. However, don't ignore the fact that @GM has put a lot of thought into this brand new design from the ground up BEV.
