- FIRST DRIVE: The Lyric is finally here and Cadillac is ready for the competition from Tesla, Audi. Mercedes-Benz & BMW. On the outside of the Debut Edition you will find 22in wheels, unique LED lighting, and flush mounted door handles. On the inside there is a 33in screen display, full leather interior & AKG sound system. Powering the Lyriq is a single electric motor producing 340HP. I've never really been a Cadillac fan but I really like this car. Honestly I like it because it's stylish without being gaudy & most importantly, it just looks like a normal car. I hate it when some of these automakers design their EV's to look like something from the set of Mystery Science Theater, just make it look like a car & if you're Cadillac offer the luxuries that people expect from a Cadillac.
Cadillac did a great job with this Lyriq. I would go for the dual motor over the single one, but both versions are great. Thank you Joe and Lori for bringing us all these incredible reviews.

I have a '21 xt5 so not in the market right now. But....in 3 to 4 years I might have to get one. Plus such new tech want to let the bugs get worked out. Great place for a test drive. Beautiful.

Wow I’m super impressed and the look inside and out is top-notch! Love the interior and exterior lighting accents as well, and superior to both Tesla and BMW; do like the Audi too, but this is in the pool for sure!

Thank you so much for this first drive video. I'm American but live and work in China and have ordered the AWD Lyriq. Should have it in late December or January and can't wait to get behind the wheel !! To Kenyatta"s comment below, I completely agree with your comment about other manufactures EV's looking like something from the set of Mystery Science Theater. Cadillac did it right with this fresh clean design on the Lyriq. This will be my fourth Cadillac since moving to China but I think it will definitely be my favorite !

I like the jewelery and bling touches on cadillac. A chrome roof rack would look nice too. Gotta have a frunk. Maybe in future versions.

Saw a Model X at a red light a week ago; door handle about an inch higher than the one in front, panels all disjointed, paint looked terrible. How Elon got people to pay $125K for that utter trash I'll never know. The BMW iX is a tech tour de force, but like all German cars it is needlessly complicated (an entire body of carbon fiber??). The Lyriq costs less than a Model Y which is like a Mig 29 being more expensive than an F22. GM is about to slay all comers....again.
I really wanted a Tesla so badly when it first came out but to see Cadillac with this model it’s like wow. Now that’s beautiful!! I also think the Nissan Ariya is beautiful and underrated too.
It is nice to have options.

I saw it in Nashville last week driving around the neighborhood, I'm just wondering if it's delivered to any customer. The manufacturing plant is in southern Nashville though.

Cadillac has become a brand I would seriously consider, where at one time, they were an "old" persons car band. Now, I prefer their styling over a lot of the competition!

It will have design features inside that recall the Cadillac’s of the Art Deco Era. This is a massive car. It will define the entire Cadillac brand in very short time.

I have pre-ordered my Cadillac Lyriq rear wheel drive on May 19th. I think this SUV will be fast enough for me from zero to 60 in 6 seconds, great looking car I cannot wait to get my 2023 Lyriq and park it in my driveway here in Forest Park, Ohio.

Due to the luxurious interior, nice looking exterior, plenty of cargo room, super cruise , and price this just jumped to the top of my EV wish list. My only zonk is the range. It will be interesting to see what the highway range is. My old Tesla said it had a 311 mile range but on the highway that was reduced to 180 miles. I traded it for a new Lexus LS500 which has over 650 miles of highway range but would love to have another EV. Thanks Joe and Lori! Keep up the great work!
It's better than my Wrangler, I barely get 230 miles of range on 17.5gal tank. The range this has is more than enough for me.
Reports are 312 miles for RWD and 287 miles for AWD. Anytime you don't have regen possibilities the range will go down on any EV
. EVs are best in town.
Every EV gets worse highway range than city range.

i think this is it. If single motor is this potent, I can only imagine the AWD version with 500HP. Question, is this car qualify for fed credit 7500？

I don’t think it Qualifies. Can you verify that it does ? I read that it does not since GM federal tax credit allocation are all used.
It currently does not qualify, GM has already sold 200k EV's.

Well the bloated "inflation reduction bill" extended the $7500 tax credit. For a car it has to be less than $50K and for an SUV less than $80K to qualify. Cadillic defines this as a crossover SUV, so if that holds the Lyriq will be qualify for the tax credit.

This electric change is the best thing that could have happened to Cadillac because Cadillac is a luxury brand that has become not so luxury or at least the people didn’t care for it anymore or saw anything luxurious about it. The cars are just not special when it came to the other brands like bmw and Mercedes. But now with them being able to recreate the brand and cars like this it will give them a chance to compete again.
This is where it's at looks like nothing else on the road and not in a odd way 👍🏽

Great review, Joe! If you've tested most of the EV luxury crossovers by now, do you still feel the Lyriq is the best one, or have you found something better? I've started to look, but review rankings are all over the place.
The price is the real winner here. I've always been a harsh Caddy critic, but this is a fantastic car. The design, LEDs, interior, dual motors, and internal space. I just hope Cadillac offers a good warranty for these new editions.

Nice nice nice Cadillac Lyriq I think it's a dandy of an "ELECTRIC VEHICLE"! You know you've truly made it in life when you're driving an EV with ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.
Thank u for doing the “street observer” view for a drive by! Many testers don’t focus on the external aspect as much as I’d like and tht was very much exactly wht I wanted to see about this vehicle. Both internal driving views and external drive by views are a great mix to have! Also, the driver’s side POV was fabulous!
P.S. def better than Tesla imo but right on par w BMW. Tesla needs to shape up it’s production quality consistency, at tht point they’d b a notch above but rn these OG brands take the win.

I have been looking for a thorough test drive for the Lyriq all over RUclips. You are the first and I think the best who reviewed this car. I wish that you consider testing the 0-60 of this car in your next videos and I also was looking forward to seeing the Super Cruise in action. However I enjoyed this test drive so much. I really wish that our Cadillac agency here in the UAE can be more proactive have some clarity on when they will be able to get the Lyriq to us here in Dubai and tell us what it’s price would be. Anyway, we’ll have to wait for at least next year to know for sure.
Cadillac is getting better with every vehicle. I feel like they’re starting to lose that whole caddy is for grandpas image which is great. Will be keeping my eye on this or the Nissan Ariya. Great review as usual👍🏼
I think that Cadillac did an awesome job with this beautiful SUV, I think that it has more style than the Tesla, and more luxury than the BMW and the Tesla, it's definitely out of my price range but, if I was looking for a luxury SUV EV, I would go with Cadillac
I think it's more of a Model Y competitor, not Model X. It's priced the same, it's almost the same space inside. Model X is much larger inside and costs almost twice the price. Also, comes with third row seats that I don't see Lyriq having in the future. Also, I was in the market for Model Y, but ordered Lyriq instead
At night this car lights up like a Christmas tree inside and out everyone’s going to see it but I actually like it I’ve never had a Cadillac this could be my first .

Absolutely love it! This is way cheaper than the X or the IX, it’s also much more luxurious. I think the AWD at $64K will be the best buy in the EV market.
Cadillac did a great job with this Lyriq. I currently owned a 2022 Cadillac XT5 350T and I love it...The Lyric is a beautiful luxury mid-size luxury SUV very economical for commuting within the city you live in but the battery charging time must get better in the event you need to drive long distances. Charging station are not located in convenient or safe locations throughout the country. You get the standard battery charger to connect to your standard house electrical outlet but if you need the fast charger, the dealer will sell you one, it will cost about $3,500 and it is a little bit faster to charge your battery but not fast enough plus you need to have an electrician set up a separate electrical line. Hopefully this will get better in the future.
Driven bmw iX the technology, luxury, handling, comfort & acceleration is top notch. Waiting to drive this cad.

I really love you guys videos you guys are always so first to bring the new cars to you too for customers to see I do have one drawback you guys are always standing in front of the car and I love your voice and you do a great job of explaining the car I wish you guys could do that on the side and just show the car and we can hear your voice without a person standing in front of the car would love to see more of the car

Thanks for the video, been following the Lyriq for a while now. But you should start using cameras with a non-rolling shutter so we can actually see what the exterior LED lighting looks like. The rolling shutter in your camera makes a mess of all the LED lighting. Thanks.

The Lyriq is a really nice car and Cadillac! I really thought about getting one for a daily commuter, but then again the C8 Z06 and manual option CT4/5-V Blackwings are calling my name as great options, too! I guess the choice is: (1) responsible EV, or (2) reckless abandon ICE vehicle for fun! Hmmm 🤣

62,000 is an outstanding price for this vehicle! I currently drive a 2017 XTS and I love it to life, but I am seriously considering the new Lyriq.
Having the amber flashers on while you talk outside the cars is a tiny great idea. Other guys talked about these ones being horizontal and didn't even show it working.

The GPS system allows you to speak your destination. Are you able to speak a particular song on the radio like Tesla??

I really don’t see the reason for the paddle. What’s so hard about slowly letting off the throttle? I just don’t see the advantage of it. Maybe after I drive it it will make more sense
Pre-ordered my new Lyriq last week. Absolutely amazing EV. Considering that tax credit will be extended next year thanks to new laws from congress - buying this one is a no-brainer.

I like it but I still feel like EVs aren't worth it UNTIL base ranges are 500 miles on a single charge. Most ppl get that with a full tank of gas. Once we hear ranges are between 500 - 1000 miles, most drivers consider switching.
What vehicles get 500 miles on one tank of fuel? Excluding a full size truck with a 36 gallon fuel tank. Im not an ev owner and every internal combustion vehicle (12 of them) I have ever owned never came close to that. Granted most had or have V8's but even one of my current vehicles (Compact SUV) with a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder gets at most 380 miles to a tank of fuel.
Looks like Cadillac got its inspiration from Changan's UNI T car models 😉

at 25:00 you can see a large notch in the dash where I suspect the HUD is actually mounted but not equiped. It will be when it comes out I'm certain of it.
This would be a great travel car if public charging wasn’t such a hassle. Car charging companies need reciprocity agreements like cell phone carriers did in the early days so travelers don’t have to have an account on every single one of the networks. This is why Tesla has such an advantage.

When you buy a Lyriq your get either 2 yrs of charging or $1500 for a charger install. They have created an app with EVgo to (hopefully) have better connections at charging stations. General Motors is partnering with Pilot Company to install a network of 2,000 DC fast charging stalls at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J truck stops. Ordered an AWD and will get the L2 charger for my garage.
Wow love this EV its a shame that Cadillac do not produce for the UK market because use left hand steering down here.

By far the best looking EV Crossover on the market. Also it looks like its screwed together way better than a Tesla and the price is a bargain compared to Tesla or BMW. I want one. Cheers!!!
