When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbing's law enforcement is only exacerbated.

    Made me cry and cry, and also howl with laughter. Beautifully shot, scripted and some of the most breathtaking acting ever. It's a serious masterpiece, and should've won Best Picture.

    I love that subtle nuance of how she helps the bug on the windowsill. Such a small 'unimportant' gesture, yet it really puts the frame around the story and shows some depths of the character.

      I like how she gets ripped off by her own lack of bargaining. I also like how this movie never finds the murderer but only shows how Wild West smaller towns can be. I do think it went a little overboard with lack of morals every character had, but I can say that police corruption in small towns goes unchecked.

    • @massivecumshot
      @massivecumshot Год назад

      That middle finger against the teeth as she contemplates those 3 decaying billboards. It's contemplating her subtle "fuck you" to the town who allowed murder to go unpunished. Don't know if it were scripted or ad libbed by McDormand but it's the first of many bold but subtle gestures in this film

      It is a toooo late coment... But it is even more poetic because that bug is a bess bettle and hiss and make little noises when it is in danger or backwards.

    Within just 8 min they have-
    2:57- shown what the protagonist WANTS and have created conflict
    4:31- shown a little insight into WHO the protagonist is (her morals, values, etc.)
    7:55- have established the theme of the film and audience's understanding of the protagonist's actions and provided a brilliant inciting incident that points to further story.
    Amazing! This is short, simple and great piece of cinema.

    Years from now this will hopefully be known as a classic, on many top ten films of the decade lists, mentioned in schools, the workplace, etc. I was absolutely blown away. Frances Mcdormand and Sam Rockwell were perfect. All around great performances and dialogue;however, I really think Lucas Hedges should have been replaced. He stood out in a negative way.

Canada has them for MMIWG too dead women are just another sad statistic to some cops they don't care if we live or die so no justice no peace.

    The best part about this film is It doesn't care to answer the question of who murdered and raped the daughter. It is beside the point of the entire story.
    This is how you make a movie that focuses on character completely rather than plot.
    The movie is solely about the fallout rather than the causation or resolution.
