Every scene these two characters share together happen to be fantastic. The pool scene is funny, this scene is disturbing and the orange juice scene is beautiful. The actor who plays Red Welby doesn't have a whole lot of screen time but he is by far my favorite character in this film.
Yeah I agree. And I thought that him getting beaten like that in broad day light in the middle of small town with no intervention and no punishment was pretty true to life.
This scene made me absolutely hate Dixon's guts, but then he manages to redeem himself later in the film. That's what makes this movie an extraordinary experience.
Such a crazy scene. This man is unbecoming who he thought he was whilst still standing by what makes him himself. It’s devastating , scary and stuff n a tragic way funny to watch.
Now, this scene and the whole film are a cinematic smorgasbord! A captivating story with an amazing ensemble of actors. If only Hollywood could produce more films like this. Instead of the superhero fantasy tech crap that they stubbornly clone, year in and year out. Yes, I understand it's business, but for crying out loud, please don't lose the beautiful arts of storytelling and acting. Just my two cents...
great film it should win best pic best actress best supp actor either sam or woody (sam is fav) best screenplay, btw i thought Lester Freamon retired looks like he decided to get out of B'more for a change drugs and gangstas was too much for him jajaja come on peeps any Wire reference?
Something I don’t understand with the movie is how Dixon seems to just legally shake off throwing a guy out the window. He’s fired, but nothing else happens to him. Maybe I missed something🤷🏻♂️
This film has very little to do with logic lol The leading gal fires up a dude and doesn't care for a second. She tells the guy that she burnt his face and he doesn't seem to care either. Still, they end up on Oscars omg I miss great films so much :(
@@raywj1fan That's a misconception, assault is a crime that the state can prosecute regardless of whether the victim wants to press charges or not. Pressing charges is ultimately the responsibility of the state, not the victim. In this case it makes more sense to assume that Dixon suffered no consequences because he's a cop.
Agreed bc there is definitely latent homosexual tension marred in how Dixon reacts to Welby throughout the movie but let’s be real Red can do better than someone who abused him like that.
It's okay folks, he had qualified immunity so he will not face any consequences for his actions. On another note, I need to find out why I enjoy this scene so much 🤔
Probably the opposite. People want to call this film a dark comedy but there is nothing comic about it. But, we laugh because if we did not, we could not handle it.
I cry instead of laugh, mostly because this entire scene is done so fucking perfectly that it’s hard for me not to get emotional. Same thing happens to me during There Will Be Blood when the oil well blows and catches fire, it’s filmmaking in its best form.
Fucking genius scene. Narrator: "To honor that man's memory is to go to work...to help". Dixon goes live. Music: "There is evil that must be put down" Dixon takes out Welby. Fucking orchestra. And you know what...Dixon is the tip of the scale. When the movie was going too leftist we get this scene. This scene puts us conservatives to ease even if it is violent.

Agreed. The Welby actor was also the brother from "Get Out", where he was the complete opposite. Great actor.
Yeah I agree. And I thought that him getting beaten like that in broad day light in the middle of small town with no intervention and no punishment was pretty true to life.
Still a vital part to the movie.
Sam Rockwell is my favorite
He's awesome. So good in Jojo Rabbit or 7 Psychopaths
Tracking shot. I love how those are becoming more popular.
Evan Monroe is this tracking or handheld? isnt tracking shot where the camera is on the rail or something
Evan Monroe me 2 I love those type of scenes
Children of Men had a scene like that near the end going through a warzone. That one was really well done too.
Did pulp fiction have one?
Agreed, made the film Elephant so iconic and influential, and the director used it again so well in his other work like Scum.
Congratulations Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell. I am so proud and happy to call you that, been a big fan since The Green Mile.
This is what a GREAT film looks and sounds like. Great actors, no tech required just the way it is.. perfect.
Absolute cinematic perfection.
Hardware Addict totally agree right up there with the best
One of Sam Rockwell's absolute best performances. I f***ing love this film.
Amazing scene
Same, i think it's the tube and the ongoing cut
Funny too
Violence used as a true storytelling device and not for the sake of gratuitousness. We as an audience can feel each time he strikes Red
He broke the window before throwing him out. How considerate.
Broke his face before throwing him out too.
This scene made me absolutely hate Dixon's guts, but then he manages to redeem himself later in the film. That's what makes this movie an extraordinary experience.
Not sure I was supposed to cry when I watched this but I did.
I did 2. What the fuck u looking at
I laughed
THIS SCENE IS SO GOOD!
Why can't I stop watching this?
PestyDesperado agree totally
One of the most moving scenes in this movie
What a fantastic shot....and how great it is to see people act on impulse.
I love it, how Welby stands in the window, clapping on his belly, feeling fine. Just perfect to make Dixon go mad
For many reasons, one of the most powerful scenes ever put on film.
like the song for the scene
MJMonroe It's called His Master's Voice if you didn't know. Great scene and great song!
Such a calming song..Lol..what a great choice for such a dramatic scene. I love when directors use music to really draw the audience in.
Old European rage come knockin'. Epic scene.
Such a crazy scene. This man is unbecoming who he thought he was whilst still standing by what makes him himself. It’s devastating , scary and stuff n a tragic way funny to watch.
such a great movie
And you even had the courtesy to put the song's name in the description. Bless you, Sir / Ma'am.
Thanks man! King diamond ftw
@@NikolakisSkoyros What a man of taste. Good for you, Sir.

2:26 Thinking "That's a hell of a lot paperwork, I'm going to have get through"
Dixon hits hard
Youd hit hard too if you had a gun in your hand
He was whacking him with the pistol, no wonder.
No wonder why he got a oscar
Sam Rockwell is one of the best actors ever
Martin McDonagh only makes the best movies. He’s a master of his craft.
Officer assaults two people, almost killing one of them-
doesn't get arrested or charged with any crimes at all.
how realistic
Ripped from the headlines.
So deep
9/ 11
😂😂😂😂best scene ever
I watched that film and I thought that the song in that scene was "The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down"
@Quarry Rat That's so weeeird I think I just experience the "Mandela Effect".

Luis Estrada I’m currently at Season 5 episode 1 of The Wire! Freamon is the man. Also.... Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeet
Nick Braet jajaja thats a great show i have it on bluray very underrated, nice clay davis reference jaja hated that douchebag
He knew what he was doing which is why I don't believe him when he apologizes to him later.
i mean his friend just killed himself you can't really blame the man😂
"...Help people"
lol

He’s fired, but nothing else happens to him.
Maybe I missed something🤷🏻♂️
He's a cop in the us. In reality he would have just been transferred to another department.
Its called being a cop
welby never pressed any charges im pretty sure

This scene was one of the best scene in the movie...
1:45 - 1:48
Man, that actress took that punch....
Who are the two people seen only briefly in the corner when Dixon is leaving the office after throwing the guy out the window?
What is the song ??
"His Master's Voice" by Monsters of Folk
Why did he beat him up?
I wish they end up being a couple.
Agreed bc there is definitely latent homosexual tension marred in how Dixon reacts to Welby throughout the movie but let’s be real Red can do better than someone who abused him like that.
Nick Darkjohn tf, Dixon isn’t gay
@@Anakin-Skywalker. he does have gay tendencies
Johnston Antiques
2:12 - "Who the hell would want to smell like Africa?"
Jeff Jeff what

Why does he sound like Forrest Gump?
This is just the shits
Wazaaagaming Just shit

Yup. That’s the police in a nutshell.
Only if you’re a fucking idiot
This movie was immensely stupid and pretentious and only dumb people who thought Bernie would make a good president liked it
Lol that’s one way to shut a woman up 😂😂😬
