- Pretty late with this one once again, but it also means more time for Mr. Square Enix to do questionable stuff for me to talk **** about him here.
I already make Kingdom Hearts 4 in a nutshell, so this one is more on other stuff around the 20th-anniversary event. Dark Road, Missing Link, and that craziest puzzle that only Japanese would get on that message.

As long as their marketed properly, the games are gonna do as well as they’re gonna do. There are people out there that exclusively buy FromSoft, RockStar, CoD, FIFA, and Madden games. So comparing your sales to those releases is unrealistic.

I never realized the subtitles were all computer references.......Kingdom Hearts is in a simulation isn't it.
Theory: Sora and the other Humans are all from the distant future, with their memories wiped, and forced into Disney DARKNESS plots to see how they would react.
The reason the plot gets increasingly insane and nonsensical, is that the writers of the Simulation couldn't give a fuck, and just want to see how far they can push shit to the limits, without trying to keep it high quality.

Edit: oh and it's like an ai made by Disney for market research purposes so it's got certain elements (Disney characters) that must be incorporated and it's secondary testing objective is maybe to make money even though humanity is extinct

Honestly out of all the things they have done for the 20th kingdom hearts anniversary, I’m still shocked and getting over the fact they showed KH4 at all.
I wouldn't get excited. Gotta remember, this is a SquEnix game. One that is heavily influenced by Nomura too. Actual release date could be anywhere from next year to 2030.

Well unless they do something with the IP's Tomb Raider and Dude Sex (Honest Trailers Name for Deus Ex), those will gonna go to the Vault of Forgotten Videogames!....and Yes trading Eidos and Crystal Dynamics IP's for NFT's was a very stupid move.
Hoping that Square Enix doesn't go to become the Next Konami....as Konami is becoming more a desolated husk of it's former self that even the ghost of Kaz Miller may say: 'Why we are still Here, Just to Suffer', Dracula becoming Alcoholic within his ruined Castlevania and White and Black Bomber being the only surviving Bomberman brothers albeit in constant malfuction...and Bandai Namco is starting if not planing to go the NFT path...At least Nintendo (despite it's questionable moves) is alright for Now.

Deus Ex was shelved, and Tomb Raider was doing well, but not as "well" as Square Enix wanted during launch, even though that was all Square Enix's fault. Seems like there was no pleasing Square Enix and this might turn out to be a blessing in disguise if the company it was sold to choose wisely.
I was shocked that Tomb Raider especially was sold at such a shockingly low asking price for the type of franchise it is. Crystal Dynamics are Eidos are also damn great studios. This was a really strange decision.

That he is old and his hair fell off, the Heartless gave him a haircut like Riku, the power of darkness hastened his aging causing his hair to degrade? There aren't a ton of satisfying answers for baldness, and having it be in remembrance of the slain is probably one of the most narratively satisfying answers we could get. Do you have a better solution? (This is a real question, not rhetorical like the above)

Im still confused about the whole NFT in video games thing, Companies said they want to implement them and there are people raging to high heaven against them, but Neither have explained how it would even work. My understanding is that NFT's are "unique" files( usually pictures or gifs) that you can own and sell. but how does that even fit into a video game? To me the whole thing is starting to look like a marketing stunt to get more eyes on certain products and both sides are in on it and its annoying me, if anyone can enlighten me please feel free too.
Even after seeing a few reviews/explanations, it still hurts my brain trying to understand it. All I know is, as an artist, I get this gut feeling that art commissions feel more right than NFTs. Therefore, I will not touch NFTs with a 358/2ft pole.
How "NFTs in games" would probably be implemented is via randomized drops where every weapon or armor would be an NFT that could be bought, sold, and traded with other players in exchange for real money. (if you count crypto as real money) Every weapon and armor would be unique with randomized stats, rarity, color, modifiers, etc and by playing the game and getting good drops you can sell your in-game items for real world money.
It would actually be pretty cool, but 99% of people are against it due to NFTs and Crypto in the west having a TERRIBLE reputation due to many things including:
1: NFTs only being used for simple PNGs and not anything actually creative.
2: The "art" often found in NFTs is very commonly of very poor quality and most of it is auto generated trash, like the infamous monkey NFTs.
3: There are countless instances of people stealing other's art to sell as NFTs in order to make a profit.
4: Mining crypto currency which is often used to buy NFTs requires a ton of energy, which may hurt the environment when the energy used is running on dangerous fossil fuels.
5: Billionaires have massive warehouses in India, Russia, and Iran which host hundreds of thousands of high power PC rigs to constantly mine for crypto. To expand these werehouses, these billionaires buy up all the high quality PC parts which creates a worldwide chip shortage causing next gen consoles and parts to build gaming PCs to be extremely rare and expensive, especially since these billionaires use bots to buy up stock as soon as it's avalible in order to expand their crypto farming warehouses.
So yeah, that's basically the jist of it. Hope I made sense.

I don’t think anyone has thought through NFTs in games. Most use cases have been solved like 20 years ago (online economies in games has been a thing forever). And cool use cases, like transferable/persistent assets across games would require multiple studios to corporate. Studios can’t even maintain compatibility across their own games, I doubt we’ll see rival studios work on something like that.
The final thing is that since all games die, NFTs in games probably won’t have persistent value anyway. You won’t have access to the server or bits that make up your in game NFT, and turning a skin or weapon into an NFT won’t change that.
@@mickomoo Exactly the same thoughts I had about it, and with all the fuss about it I assumed I was missing something. But whenever someone discusses it it just either "NFT bad or NFT good" and don't elaborate on things like implementation.
Honestly if Square goes under one day they have no one to blame but themselves. I'm tired of video game companies making so many stupid decisions when all they should be worrying about at the end of the day is making the best games they can. That used to be a tried and true method of success but it seems like execs want to continue showing off their resources and investing in dumb things rather than doing what their company's primary purpose is for.
At the very least I can come here to laugh at them.
