I've been struggling with this issue for days now and I am so thankful that I found your video! I watched over five hours of different videos over this and I even installed what they were all telling me and it ended up crashing my computer and I had to hard reset it. (DO NOT INTALL VB CABLE!). I appreciate that you are putting videos out like this! Keep of the good work!!!!!
I have been pulling my HAIR out trying to figure out how to remove my discord audio from my streams but still be able to hear it in my headphones. You're a lifesaver! Thank you SO much. Liked and Subbed!

I've been searching everywhere for a way to do this and nothing but confusing tutorials with several programs and I find this video, one plugin, done... I tip my hat to you sir.
Been looking for Videos trying to do this for several days now. Finally one that WOOOOOORRRRKKSSS without having to set up separate hardware of program. THANK YOU!!!
It's amazing that everytime i have an issue i just go to youtube searchbar and type "Michael Feyer Jr. + *issue*" and then boom, no more issue. Thank you for your AMAZING content Michael!
So funnily enough I was trying to find a solution for this literally yesterday and you happened to pop up. I'm sticking around because this channel strikes me as an essential channel moving forward. Much needed and appreciated my guy!
You could have also created a "Nested Scene" for this. Makes adding those audio sources a breeze to actual scenes you'll need those audio channels heard in. One and Done!
Exactly! I just finished watching the Nested Scene video before watching this one. So, I created a new NS for General Audio I'll use for everything, like VoiceMeeter for my mic. I then used my former Gaming Stream scene AS the scene for just my game video and audio feeds, and I'll probably make a new scene combining them as the new Gaming/General Stream feed nesting everything together once I make some new graphic overlays and backgrounds, now that I know how to do all that. :0)
This Plugin literally just saved me... I was adding a Screen Capture Source for PotPlayer so I can have tons of SoundFX ready on the fly via the playlist screen...while the irony here is using a screen capture for audio usage only... and the only way I was able to capture the sound was through Outputting Desktop Audio....which as you know creates ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS! Now I can isolate the audio from the executable file... AMAZING! THANK YOU!!!
@@MichaelFeyrerJr after installing and adding Application Audio Output Capture... it seems to not be capturing the sound...even from a Chrome youtube page.... now I'm stuck..
Omg thank you! I spent forever looking for something like this! I just wanted to stream and listen to music without having the music be super loud on the stream and this worked. Every other video I saw explaining how to use the plugin was complicated and I didn't understand why they were doing what they did but this actually broke it down well.
Michael, as always, a mastermind in troubleshooting and tipping us with valuable information. Thank you very much. And this method also simplifies recording with multiple audio channels to have them separated for editing.
wasn't working until i realized i shouldn't change what file location it would download to (default "c: program files/obs-studio" but after check it was "c: program files/obs-studio/obs-studio") so if you're downloading it just don't change the download file location and see if that works too. thank you so much
The app is a little different now, but I was able to use it without problems following your instructions. Thank you very much! Hugs from a Brazilian friend.
Even though I barely stream lately your video casually popped off in my recommendations. And I decided to stop by and watch it for a bit, and I already had this plug-in installed and working. But your editing made me stay a bit longer :) As an editor myself I can definitely say that you spent a lot of time doing this video. And i absolutely love SFX and VFX work here. I'll drop my sub for you, keep up the great work!🦉
Haha, finally I suscribed to your videos! I have seen some of then, and I refused to do it because you know, "when someting is free, then product is you"... If Eposvox is the Stream Professor, this guy is the Hip Substitute Stream Teacher! He's so cool and every kid wants to be him in the future, Thank you for being the life saver for Many Streamers!
While this plug-in can be nice, it has one major flaw that I see it making a royal pain to use: you have to set each and every game as an individual audio source, making it so you can't simply capture the audio of "any" game. This will either make your audio mixer area cumbersome to sort thru or you have to have individual scenes for every game you play. It also means that those with a Stream Deck will need to create multiple buttons for muting audio on all of the various games if they want to mute that during a break or anything like that. What really needs to happen is the folks at OBS Project need to write the code in such a way that when you add a source that has audio (i.e. a game source) it automatically adds that as an audio track into OBS, instead of relying on Desktop audio. In this way your audio mixer can be cleaned up, your Stream Deck buttons aren't a black hole of mute/unmute buttons, and when you have a source you know for certain either doesn't have sound or you won't be using in your stream (i.e. XSplit VCam's use of your phone's mic) can be hidden from your view and your viewers are none the wiser.
It’s pretty simple to set up all the audio as a nested scene. Then you could have different sound profiles for different scenes or one simple place to easily just change the game audio to whatever it is you are currently playing and it will change in all the scenes with that audio in it.
There's a much better fix. Set up the source to capture audio from the "foreground scene" via a hotkey. Then, you only have to have one "gameplay" audio channel, and every time you play a new game, just open it and press that hotkey. Boom. Audio captured. I also use a stream deck, enabling me to only have one set of buttons for it as well. Hope this helps!
Love this! I tried messing with VoiceMeter but just couldn't manage to understand the darn thing. Sending this to my fellow streamers. Also recommendation: make a separate scene for all your audio and just add the scene as a source in your other scenes so it's a little more manageable.
Videos are ALWAYS the best, and have the MOST clearly explained instructions in them, as well. Used them to help my streams so much, over the past year. Thank YOU!
This seems like it's a much better solution than using Voicemeter, which is what I'd been doing. It's such a hassle to set up but this seems easier to do. I'll play around with this for sure. Thanks for the heads up!
I've been looking for a solution for the separate audio on stream for months as I cannot install virtual devices in my PC due to incompatibility issues I had in the past, this is awesome thanks a lot!
Hey michael, my issue is that, when i select to get the audio the tab on the OBS is different from yours. It does not appear to select an specific window, the mode or even the window priority. It only appears to select the "device" audio. Any suggestions?
If you are still having problems. I figured out that after selecting "Capture audio sessions from a selection of executables" you can go down to the bottom that says "Add from active sessions" after that you choose which app/window youd like to hear the audio from. Then you click Add Executable. Then it should start to pick up your audio correctly.

My problem has been that if i set OBS monitor output to my Sound Card Headphones it picks up my voice from OBS and the DAW both, and they are not time synched so it gives me this weird off synch doubled voice and you cannot fix it with the OBS delay setting actually i have tried, I do understand sound engineering a bit as I am a musician and use Reaper and Ableton. This OBS stuff has been a pain in the but, i truly hope this fixes this for me. My friend who plays drums live has to use 2 computers to stream. for his DAW to work he has one computer running the DAW and going out of the sound card with stereo cables into a USB mixer going into the streaming PC.
