Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

The focus on low altitude for the EMP fight gave me an interesting idea: what if you did a dogfight over the water at ultra-low altitude? Meaning, create planes where the engines and weapons _only_ function when your altitude sensor is _below_ 10-15 meters. You can either do another EMP battle or do the usual smart cannon to rocket upgrade progression between rounds. It'd be fun to see what sort of designs you guys would come up with to operate within such a limited vertical space

For anything on toggle, use a logic gate to control the part(s) as the logic gate set to toggle will not allow for the toggle parts to become desynced from each other.

@@Verin100 Depends on how the EMP works, can it affect individual logic components?
@@ScarletFlames1 yes, the emp can effect any part that can function, thrusters, hinges, servos, etc; but if anything is set to toggle it won’t become desynced because the input for toggle is not a part of the part, but the logic gate(s).

This defwas a funny one! You could do a hovercraft EMP battle, or have a dog fight with 4 players, 1 attack plane and 1 emp plane, the emp plane is there to assist and the attack plane to kill
Hovercraft or helicopters EMP fight has the potential for fun mayhem. Lots of things to go wrong.

I wonder if he used the flap wings for lift but actually had a flap control. It would be interesting to see because bigger planes need flaps to even get off the ground.
Snow-ball Archery.
Build a wall between the 2 of you. And you each make contraptions that can launch the snowballs over the wall and you take turns with shots. The launchers are made in a way to allow you can adjust the aim and power each turn. You keep going till one of you disables the other. 3 turns in a row where it doesn't make it over the wall is DISQUALIFICATION.
Creations MUST be stationary and cannot move positions, even for the sake of helping with aim. Number of shots per turn is up to you guys. I'd recommend 2 shots per turn, but whoever goes first only gets one shot for the first turn (to minimize first-turn advantage).
This idea came from those old flash games with the 2 archers. I believe it was called "Bowman"? If you google "old flash game bowman" it shows up so I'ma just go with that.

Hey scrapman, I've been watching your videos since you found the cave in a mountain in scrap mechanic driving the mad scrap car. when world grenaration changed a bit, long ago. Just wanna say that unlike a lot of other youtubers your content quality has never dropped. Thus, keep up this good work.
This was a surprisingly exciting match. It does make me wonder if it would work better at higher gravities, since you'd fall faster, or on different maps, where there might be more obstacles to navigate.
Also, I have a suggestion for another challenge, all though it requires at least 4: Point Shields.
The basic idea is you need to create vehicles for a dog fight (air or space) where each team is allowed one weapon and one shield. The catch is that the shield must be relatively tiny, so you can't just rely on it to passively defend the vehicle. You can, however, mount it to a turret and move it around to intercept incoming fire. That means you'll need to divvy up driving, shooting, and defending, between only two players. Have fun with that.

challenge idea: "low power" - powerplants on your craft are not enough to supply simultaneously engines and weapons so you should toggle between them
make a logic circuit that does that adding 3 seconds delay between turning off engines and turning on weapons

You need to try the same thing you did this video, but have detachable blocks between each wing segment so parts of your wings fall off when you get hit by the emp

I think it might be interesting if some builds had a block range, so 100-150, instead of just a maximum. Instead, it could also just be a weight class, where players build to meet a range of xkg-ykg.

Your aircraft reminds me of the A-10 thunderbolt ll. With the engine and tail design. But afterwards the B-45 Tornado.
Something i did lots of testing with is even if you make an aerodynamically perfect vehicle regular Dragon Engines are better then the massive ones as you can fit more in the same space and in total its more power
You should try this, but have an altitude sensor that shuts off your thrusters when you get above a certain altitude.

I think emps in trailmakers should turn of engines and make things like wing flaps toggle on and off instead of random actions happening

I wonder if you could make some sort of balloon releasing form of battle ship, you fire snowballs over a hill from a stationary platform, and aim for a "ship" which will release a balloon that hovers above the battlefield or something
scrapmanif you wanted to keep thetoggle without the problem of having onlyone toggled what you could do is to have a OR gate hooked into them instead of them being toggled by the gyro. the gyros would not be toggled on and off by. so if one gyro got activated it would turn off. they OR gate would be in control of the toggling and if it got activated would cause both to be toggled on and off.
Swap planes could be cool? (Hey scrapman ik you won't see this but a cool idea could be having fans join multi-player Monday and other challenges)
Can you shield your inner part of the built by making shields slightly undersized rather then shields covering over your vehicle?

If you had another dogfighting video, adding a launching sequence from the carrier before every round would be very awesome.
Make a snow/winter themed battlebot versus. Have the snowball launcher be a special ability with a cool down. You could put some sort of visual indicator on your build to signal that it's "charged" i.e. a green light/buzzer sound
Maybe you could try EMPs with just the small, non-smart guns or with dynamite attached (controls off for those of course).

12:33 You should have put them behind a logic gate and have the logic gate on toggle while gyros not. It would give one more piece to be affected by EMP but completely avoiding the problem you have with them now. I think that trade-off would've been well worth it.
But then the logic gate gets toggled by the EMP and you have the exact same problem? I think just using separate keys for the different stabilizers would be the easiest solution.
@@justadude7455 No. The problem is specifically only one of the gyros getting toggled by EMP and after the EMP wears off, the toggle stays because they were assigned the same hotkey, so one of the two gyros is always on.
What I explained, fully mitigates this issue, because it is just one toggle that can get affected and one assigned key for the toggle that you can use at will.
The point of custom assigned controls is convenience. While assigning different keys for different gyros would also solve this, it would be at the expense of convenience. My solution do not decrease the convenience.

hi scrappy mr scrabbledabble... first of all i do believe that the high seas map would be very interesting for all kinds of fights... doesnt matter if its air or water or whatever... and i would love for you to build huge galleons and then fight with the bois
hm. kinda feel like as soon as altitude somehow is part of the rules, there should be altitude sensors on the plane that at least disable the weapons if not also the propulsion once you go above/below. tho the part with below might be tricky, since you start on the ground. maybe with some logic that blocks the "below" part until you reached the destined altitude, then that logic gets thrown off with a detacheable block.
I don't know if this will work but you should use the knockback from being hit by a bunch of EMPs in a demolition derby or a snowball fight.
You should do like a sled race down the winter island. Maybe make a finish line the sleds can hit.
