  • In this episode I show how I do a t-belt / water pump service on a V8 toyota. Most of these V8's put out by Toyota are the same, so Sequoia's and Tundras will follow the same steps put out in this video.

    Hey bro u didn’t have to rotate the crank pulley twice to verify ur timing marks because everything was on tdc?Just asking cause everyone always seems to turn it after they install the belt.

      OEM belts have marks on the belts, if they all line up with the gears, it's in time. Toyota makes it really easy.

    Fly you out for a head swap and clutch install on a z06?

    When did 4Runner get a V8? It looks like the old 4.7L that came in the old Tundra! Great video!

      That generation is when it started. It’s the exact same engine as the tundra and sequoia!

    Why is important not to line up the timing marks to the T ?

    • @SkillCollectors
      @SkillCollectors  Год назад

      Because those are not the proper timing marks for timing belt installation per the service manual. Not sure what those marks are to be honest. Someone mentioned they are ATDC marks (After Top Dead Center) but I don't know.

      @kristofflutchman I did research it ,so after aligned all of the marks at TDC, they should be move to the T marks so it will be out of tension and prevent the belt to jump backwards.

    So you changed the timing belt at TDC and didn't advance 50 Degrees? This is doing my head in....who's right?

      Not sure what you’re referencing but for what it’s worth, I’ve done dozens of these timing belts this way at this point in my career and they’ve all been in time when finished with the jobs.
