    This is the BEST video on timing belt and water pump change for my 2000 tundra. I had never done this before on a vehicle (I have done other stuff so I am able to do mechanical stuff). This video gave me the confidence needed and I literally followed it step by step with my tablet while doing the work. The timing belt alignment really had me nervous but I did exactly what you said and it came out perfect. It’s all done and back together and I am glad to have saved at 1000 dollars. I paid around 300 for a complete kit and a few tools I did not have. I would really like to download these videos for reference in another 100k miles when it is time to do this again. You have made this procedure very easy and without any drama and most of all, you took your time in the video, not rushing through things. Thank you. If there is a way to download these videos I would be really grateful.

    Thank you James for the best video on You Tube on this repair. I'm going to clean my frame and other areas like you did. Thanks for the info on the cams moving. that would have caught me by surprise. Great idea on putting the bolts on the new pump to make sure they go back in the right place. Thank you again for your time and effort to help others.

    Used this video to successfully replace my timing belt and water pump. This video got me through but I'd like to make some suggestions after having the experience,
    My Truck is an 01 tundra, everything is pretty much the same besides the cams
    1. The video was pretty confusing on why you kept moving the timing around back and forth. I just lined the timing mark on the crank pully with the plastic dowel to the right of the 0 on the timing cover. Took the belt off and got the new one on without messing with rotating cams or anything. Pretty smoothly 👌
    2. Not sure why you kept taking the bolt in and out of the crank pully so many times, that was a bit confusing
    3. When installing the lower timing cover you can just bolt down the man peice and that little trapezoid shaped peice can pop in after.
    4. The AC unit can be taken off by just removing the bracket
    5. There are 4 bolts holding in the Radiator bracket that are on the outside of the Radiator support, easily accessible with the hood up, at least for me.
    6. Use clamps to hold the timing belt in place on the cams!
    Over all great 2 videos. Thanks man!

    Awesome video. Hope to do this project in a couple of weeks. One question...I notice that you did not torque the crank bolt. If using an impact, how do you ensure its tight enough, but not too tight?

    in most other videos they line up the belt with the crank marks first and then place it on the left and then right cam pulleys. I think I'd be nervous about doing it your way because I'd be worried about upsetting the synch/timing between the crank and the cams but I guess it's just another way of doing it

    You should NOT have too move crack once TB is off. LINE UP marks before hand..TB should go on if set 50 degrees past TDC....

    Just changed out my water pump and timing belt. Everything lined up correctly and went back together without a hitch. For some reason my crankshaft pulley will not rotate either way even with a breaker bar. When trying to start engine just clicks like something’s locked. 2006 toyota tundra.

    So first and foremost, GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU SO MUCH.
    That said, the only confusion I have is the physical timing marks on the crank itself. (Never mind marks on the belt)
    Basically, I hired someone to do this job for me privately, and they screwed me, long story short and I have to finish the job going into it having not been the one that took it apart. So I’m using your video and others to do my homework
    So, I understand and have a visual for the timing marks on the cams, I do not understand what I need to do in regards to setting the crank’s timing. They have the white marks, and then the little metal notch, but what goes where?

    Thanks for this outstanding video, its my first time replacing a timing belt and I am unsure if my timing marks are properly aligned, right before you release the pin on the adjuster the marks on the right and left cams were slightly off then after you release the pin the marks were aligned. Did you set the marks yourself or did the adjuster move them? Thanks for the help 🙂 👍 🙏

      I really appreciate this video thanks for posting, I was able to put it all back together and the truck started right away but then afterwards it started acting up and didn't start until after a couple of tries. I'm now wondering what could've gone wrong, it sounds as if the belt is slipping 🤔

    Excellent job, my Tundra 4.7 water pump just failed so I have to do all of this. I have an 07 with 80K. I'm a bit supersized the pump failed with low miles. The big question is do I do this job myself or bring it into the dealer...How much would they charge?

    • @megaded7243
      @megaded7243 Год назад

      If you tighten it enough, you can use the bolt to turn it counter clockwise. That's what I did, then I just gave the wrench a good solid whack to loosen the bolt. Fyi I am not a mechanic.

    Hi great video, can I reuse the old tensioner,, and what is the deal with the pin in it.

    • @corymoll9572
      @corymoll9572 2 года назад +1

      the pin is holding the tensioner spring It is hydraulic once the engine is running but to hold the spring back the pin is inserted. I have reused tensioners before. You will have to remove it and push the spring in, there will be a hole to insert a pin that will hold the spring until you have the belt on. then you pull the pin.
