This is such a raw, beautiful song. I cannot listen to it without getting teary - especially when Freddie sings about getting older since he didn't have that luxury.

You seem to feel every word that is sung, and every note played seems to vibrate inside you. Freddie wrote this love ballad inspired by his close friend & former fiancé Mary Austin!! They lived together for a few years before breaking up when Freddie revealed his sexuality! Mary said she kinda knew something was wrong and speculated that this might be the reason. She remained a close & faithful friend to Freddie until his death. Freddie was Godfather to her first son & Mary was 7 mo pregnant with her second when Freddie died! 🥺☹️😢 💔❤️🩹

You should watch the live version of this song from 1986 in Wembley Stadium. Both versions are great but I’d say the Wembley version is more impressive because the crowd sings for 3-4 lines in the beginning and a little at the middle and the last few lines at the end.
