There was one part of this speech that made me go, "Did they just hear their self?". It was when X, the speaker, confirmed that Nicholas Cruz had been bullied and then tried to justify it. We all benefit from treating each other like human beings. Being bullied is not an excuse to destroy people, but, sadly, it can be a motivator. The students of this school reported Cruz's behavior and they were not taken seriously. This is a why that the school f**ked over the students. Bullying can be dangerous, though, because you don't know who's about to attempt homicide or suicide. My Italian grandmother used to tell my mom, my sister and I to not trust anyone and, unfortunately, she was right. Respectfully, there are a lot of people out there with scary thoughts. If we treat each other like human beings that will help lower homicide and suicide rates. To reiterate, the students did the right thing by reporting Cruz's disturbing behavior. I hope people understand where I'm coming from. (To clarify, X stated that Cruz was ostracized and I associate that with bullying. She must not have heard about the Monash University shooting in 2002, the Hunt family murders in 2014, the Sydney Siege in 2014... and those are just the gun crimes. Without guns, you have arson attacks such as the Childers Palace Backpackers Hostel fire which claimed 15 lives, the Churchill Fire which claimed 10, the Quakers Hill nursing home fire claiming 11, the Rozelle fire murders which killed 3 and injured 2, and the worst attack of all was just last year and didn't involve anything but a sedan. I'm a Broward resident and this hits close to home, but it's a shame how nobody still wants to talk about how flawed our background system is and that law enforcement along with the FBI don't act when they have too many red flags and tips on potential shooters within their radar. The background system is only as good as the records submitted to it, and it was easy for the shooter to slip through the cracks to buy a gun legally after 39 visits from law enforcement at his house, assaulting students and his parents, and even carrying bullets and knives to school. That shouldn't have even gotten that far. Not to mention, under Florida statute, it's especially illegal to threaten people online and he should have been Baker acted after that. The FBI didn't just miss tips, the sheriff's department (shame on you, Scott Israel) dropped the ball by not stopping him given the countless red flags and visits. I'm so thankful we elected Ron DeSantis in 2018 since he kept his promises to get to the root causes that created the Parkland shooter and what led to the tragedy. Getting rid of Scott Israel was essential.

The FBI unfortunately also depends on the State they are acting in to provide reasonable resources for mental health services. If there were more means of getting this kid seen for an evaluation based on his history and clear antecedent behavior a course of action barring him from possessing firearms could have begun. The laws are there if the resources and willingness to act are in place. Often the trouble is we closed the large institutional facilities without furnishing alternatives.

There was one part of this speech that made me go, "Did they just hear their self?". It was when X, the speaker, confirmed that Nicholas Cruz had been bullied and then tried to justify it. We all benefit from treating each other like human beings. Being bullied is not an excuse to destroy people, but, sadly, it can be a motivator. The students of this school reported Cruz's behavior and they were not taken seriously. This is a why that the school f**ked over the students. Bullying can be dangerous, though, because you don't know who's about to attempt homicide or suicide. My Italian grandmother used to tell my mom, my sister and I to not trust anyone and, unfortunately, she was right. Respectfully, there are a lot of people out there with scary thoughts. If we treat each other like human beings that will help lower homicide and suicide rates. To reiterate, the students did the right thing by reporting Cruz's disturbing behavior. I hope people understand where I'm coming from. (To clarify, X stated that Cruz was ostracized and I associate that with bullying. Perhaps my interpretation of that word will be different in the future.)

Without guns, you have arson attacks such as the Childers Palace Backpackers Hostel fire which claimed 15 lives, the Churchill Fire which claimed 10, the Quakers Hill nursing home fire claiming 11, the Rozelle fire murders which killed 3 and injured 2, and the worst attack of all was just last year and didn't involve anything but a sedan. In Melbourne, 6 people were killed and 30 injured as a result of a vehicular attack at Bourke St. Mall. I sincerely hope people listening to this girl are doing their homework.

I'm a Broward resident and this hits close to home, but it's a shame how nobody still wants to talk about how flawed our background system is and that law enforcement along with the FBI don't act when they have too many red flags and tips on potential shooters within their radar. The background system is only as good as the records submitted to it, and it was easy for the shooter to slip through the cracks to buy a gun legally after 39 visits from law enforcement at his house, assaulting students and his parents, and even carrying bullets and knives to school. That shouldn't have even gotten that far. Not to mention, under Florida statute, it's especially illegal to threaten people online and he should have been Baker acted after that. The FBI didn't just miss tips, the sheriff's department (shame on you, Scott Israel) dropped the ball by not stopping him given the countless red flags and visits.
I'm so thankful we elected Ron DeSantis in 2018 since he kept his promises to get to the root causes that created the Parkland shooter and what led to the tragedy. Getting rid of Scott Israel was essential.

I mention it only because we recently had the 20th anniversary & people are still traumatised by (not inured to) the event.
