- Even if you shop there all the time, there are probably still some surprising facts about Amazon that every author should know. If you want your book to be more discoverable on the Amazon platform there are five surprising facts about Amazon that you need to know. If you want to know what they are then this video is for you.
Amazon is not the only place you will sell books … in fact, in my book Self-Publish and Succeed I have an ENTIRE chapter on places to sell books that aren’t Amazon. But, Amazon is probably where you will sell a lot of books - outside of bulk arrangements or large events. So what things do you not know about Amazon but probably should?

It's cool that you mentioned The Long Tail. I often use that concept when explaining shifts in retail, book, and music sales. In the first draft of my book I quoted The Long Tail, crediting the author, but then took.out that entire part to avoid any legal issue

@@BookLaunchers yes. The guy who invented the theory wrote a magazine article and a book explaining it. You'll really enjoy them... not recent but I feel the ideas in them.still hold true

Thanks for all the vids Julie, they are very packed with value and competent! Hope one days you make a video about unclassable books, I made one with drawings and it is not a comic or graphic novel and I discover that most advises are for mainstream category of books. Cheers, you look like this super sweet girl btw, with so much to us and dynamics that most of us would like to have at all times!!
Oh wow! I have not had any experience with books that are not classifiable ... at least I think that is the word you're likely going for there. Have you grabbed Publisher Rocket to do some research? www.booklaunchers.com/rocket - use that tool and it will help with categories, niches, keywords and more. There IS a classification for just about every book - especially on Amazon and that tool will help you.

OMG Julie! You are such a godsend. I've been on my author central page a couple of times but I've never really looked at it...until now. #5 was an eye-opener. I see all 25 publications and their rankings. When I take a break from writing I'm going to have to take a closer look at it. Great content!! JS

Interesting about curated lists - would like to know how to find them though.
You need to get a link ... I don't think there is a public database of lists to search but some people create widgets and many people with Amazon affiliate accounts create lists and then link to them on their websites etc. I've also seen them on some profiles when I click a reviewers profile link.
