    I liked your video. In the conclusion you said “this kit is not really for the AVATA type person” I see the install as one and done kit. When it’s done you have all the Avata characteristics with extra performance and stability. Not to mention quieter. As long as the battery life is not completely destroyed, it seems like a great upgrade.

    • @MurdersFPV
      @MurdersFPV  Год назад

      It's a great upgrade, it's just the vast majority of people I meet who own or want an Avata are not the people who would either want or possess the skill set to perform this upgrade. I get emails or messages on Instagram from people who want this upgrade but can't/won't do it themselves asking if I can do it for them. I wish I had more time to help them out.

      @@MurdersFPV found it. Do you get the "Motor Overloaded" warning? Is this confusion from the new motors? Or did I screw up in my install? As of now I am treating it like a shift light/redline indicator and let off. But the motors come back cold to the touch. So I am thinking the ESC is not really in trouble, but confused about the draw of power from them. Its performing out of its programed range. Do we know of any long term ESC damage from these motors?

    you want rubber for both the nut and the bolt. the rubbers are meant to dampen any shock going to the camera in the event of a crash and believe me, the cheapest you can find that camera for is about 350 usd. you will want to put rubber on the top too if you are going with the bolt idea

    Great honest review of the upgrade kit, murders. I’m taking a hard pass on it and accepting the Avata for what it is. The risk/reward ratio just isn’t there for me considering the extra money I’d be dumping into what’s already a $650 quad. The motors for my 5” frame will be here tomorrow. That’s the way to get the performance I’m looking for imo. This was the vid I needed to see and have eagerly been waiting for. That was an epic rip in the Spain bando. it seems like a lot of work that also voids the warranty. what is the benefit of the upgrade kit over buying or building another, better cinewhoop or other style drone?

    • @MurdersFPV
      @MurdersFPV  Год назад +2

      If you're referring to the DJI limited warranty that is voided by just about everything then yes you would void your warranty. I mean simply taking off with additional weight such as a GoPro does that. Their limited warranty doesn't cover any form of crashes or damages due to pilot error as well as flying in areas where WiFi is present or "bad weather". I would hope someone has spent time flying their Avata as stock to determine if there were any manufacturing defects that would be covered by the warranty prior to the upgrade.
      Now if you are referring to DJI Care Refresh then simply performing the upgrade does not void your coverage. It's a paid service that covers the drone in the event that it was run over by a freight train. You simply return your drone as wholely as possible and pay your replacement fee and they send you a new drone.
      I know this because I have done it myself even after performing the previous Axisflying motor upgrade and had no issues. I have had several viewers who reached out to me with the same outcomes.
      The benefits over other drones you could buy or build is features. Normal, Sport, Manual mode for varying degrees of pilot skills. The most dependable GPS and RTH capabilities I've seen. Active braking ("oh shit" button). It's quite durable even after the upgrade. Intelligent batteries that are safer than any normal LiPo. Ease of use, there's no "configuration" or setup and lastly there are people who simply enjoy being in the DJI ecosystem.
      As someone who builds and flies their own drones A LOT I still find value in the Avata. I like the Avata for its simplicity in regards to travel. I like letting friends and family fly it. I like knowing I can beat the shit out of it and it keeps going. It's more durable than my GepRc Cinelog35 and now with this upgrade it honestly flies and handles almost as well as the Cinelog35.
      I hope that answers your question.

      Is it just one motor or multiple? Have you attempted to arm the quad and see if any motors are spinning? Let's say it's just one motor not moving, I would move a known good motor to the spot where the bad motor is. The Avata has an AIO FC/ESC on the same board and it is likely the motors are fine but the AIO is bad.

    • @MurdersFPV
      @MurdersFPV  Год назад

      @@clwood562 just curious who recommended to you to splice motor wires? I'm a firm believer the best way to perform the upgrade is to install the motors as intended directly to the AIO. I would verify your splices very carefully to ensure you have enough continuity for each of the motor wires. If you are positive that you do, then it's possible you still somehow managed to the AIO. You want to troubleshoot the motors first though. Reinstall the original motors and test. If motors still won't start then it's your AIO.

    • @clwood562
      @clwood562 Год назад

      @@MurdersFPV AXIS recommends that you cut the wires to ensure that you dont fry the ESC. Im guessing that you are 100% correct i need to just go directly to the esc

      @@clwood562 splicing can be done and I see why they recommend to avoid damage but having the appropriate skill and soldering station with the correct amount of heat makes soldering to the AIO directly very easy and it's just clean and tidy. Give it a shot. Look for any balls of solder or clear defects with the AIO while you're at it and like I mentioned, you can always use the old motors for troubleshooting.

    Looking for a fpv drone that is not so loud and can carry a GoPro. Any ideas? Curious why you would use a go pro? I thought the avata had a good camera system.

    • @MurdersFPV
      @MurdersFPV  Год назад

      All the footage in this video is right off the Avata's camera system. I personally think it looks great too but for "professional grade" work it isn't as easy to manipulate the footage and it does lack dynamic range compared to a GoPro. In terms of loudness, the only way to combat that with an FPV drone is to use different props. I've been experimenting with some different props on the Avata and I'll likely make a video on it soon. Anything that is powerful enough to carry a GoPro is going to be loud, unfortunately. 🫤

      @@MurdersFPV appreciate the response. Definitely a tough decision with so many options out there. What would you recommend if not an avata that would still easily hook up to the DJI googles and controller and would hold a full sized GoPro? Or would it be better just to strap a GoPro to the avata? Seen that a bit on RUclips. I’ve heard you really can’t do dives with the avata. Is that true? I am not looking to do crazy stunts. Just want to be able to make some really cool cimamatic videos wit the fpv look.

      @@adventuresofjandk pretty much any drone with a DJI Air Unit would be easy to setup with the controller and goggles. There are several bind and fly drones out there that have DJI FPV systems built in. The Avata can dive better with this upgrade but not while carrying a GoPro. I'm not really a fan of a full size GoPro on any cinewhoop style drone. I use the GoPro Hero 10 Bones on the GepRc Cinelog35 which is a pretty great drone. If I were going to carry a full size GoPro I'd use it on a 5" or higher.

      I believe the upgrade was worth it. That's because my style of flying is more aggressive.
      You have to install the SD card before hand and leave it in there. It is impossible to remove after the upgrade unless you take the ducts off. You get a USB cable that extends the USB-C jack out to the base of the quad. It's much easier to access and that is how you get your video files off the SD card. I recommend pre-installing a 128g or 256g SD card.
