Very cool. My sbe 351w made 705 to the tire on 11psi with a 7875 billet wheel VSR turbo. Ran a 9.68 at 143 at that power at 3-4k DA in Kearney NE. Then it did 9.61 at 146 at 6000 DA in pueblo Co at 14#...probably 800 or so wheel. Super happy. Keep it up!

@@thuhintimidator heck ya. That’s awesome. My goal is to start doing some race weeks with it. I believe my biggest problem is I have/had my timing way too low and my converter is way off for my setup. I also think my heads have some valve sealing issues. But I’m not sure. I have to chase my tune around quite a bit sometimes. I have a freakshow converter to put in it I just haven’t done it yet cause I want to pull it apart and inspect and seal everything. So 14 psi and 706 got you a 9.61 at 146 I wonder how much power it took to get me to 9.44 at 152??? I’d like to get it back onto a dyno after I get it back together.
@Wheelsupracing 11psi was 705hp at 2k DA equaled 9.68 at 143. 14# was unknown hp and was 9.61 at 146 on much thinner air and a worse launch, 6000 DA. So probably 750-800 ish hp. 153mph was probably 850-900.
I am not sure what is meant by "stock bottom end" but I doubt stock cast pistons can hold up to 22lbs of boost for very long even with perfect ignition timing and A/F mixture. I won't even mention detonation. However, a 351 Windsor block, crank and rods are capable of holding up to the extreme pressure of 22lbs of boost if the engine is tuned right. Nice build Bro!
Stock bottom end I’m referring to exactly that. It’s a completely stock bottom end down to the bolts. Went 9.44 154. Tuned by me. Ended up taking the main bearings out because of rpm and cap walk.
@Lingen Bully not sure what happen to your comment. It has brand new valve springs. I found an alt wire that was chafed and the alt was acting up. On my drive home the alt took a crap completely. Installed my spare alt and it runs 100% better. gonna gap my plugs down a little and add a few degrees of timing and that should really wake it up. im running on winter blend E85 so i have the the timing really low. 22 psi was a whopping 12 degrees all in. Gonna turn it back up to 14 degrees and go from there. really wish i would have been in the car on the dyno because i would have loaded the car harder from a lower rpm. i also found a cold side boot that was torn some. im not sure if that happen on the dyno though.
Stock 351w bottom end is pretty stout. I was running 20-23 psi on my lightnings stock bottom end with 206k miles. Ran a 6.4 in the 1/8 blowing the map line off the ECU. Probably a high 9 second truck at 4500lbs. Got that motor on stand now in retirement.. never broke anything.
Heck ya. That’s awesome. I do think the lightnings had either hypo or forged poisons where all the others had cast pistons. That’s moving for a truck for sure. They are definitely stronger than people give them credit for.
Thank you!!! i left a lot of power on the table in timing alone. Im ironing it out and when i have some more time i want to put the car back on the dyno and do some real tuning. As of now ive put 4 degrees in my entire timing table. i didnt have nowhere near enough timing in it. That could also be why it sounded like it was laboring really bad. Besides haters gonna hate. Dont see them out having fun with a car they built with their own hands.
I’ll check it out for sure. Ya. The dyno is for finding issues and that’s exactly what I did. It’s been 152 in the 1/4 and at 3450lb it takes good power to do that. I love the people that put down 1000hp on the dyno but go to the track and run 11s.
Heck ya. That’s awesome. I believe I could have taken .5 second off my time with a better converter. I also believe my heads have had issues for quite some time. Found some stretched valve stems when I pulled it apart this winter. I had 7 exhaust valves that were leaking badly and that’s a lot of HP left on the table.
Mine went 5.94 with a 1.54 60’ and a 3.27 rear gear 28” tire cause mines geared for the 1/4. That was on 20 ish psi. Converter was very tight and didn’t flash when I left the line. I rode the converter all the way down the track so the car was sluggish. Now it has a freakshow custom converter and a 393 will be going back into it. Should be a whole new animal.
Nice. I've been a 5.39 @129 1.19 60' on a 275/50/15 mtDR. I hit mine with 425. I can drive 55 fine but after nah, lol. But bet I'll drive it a long way @55 if I need too! I'm about to just give in and take the gear out and turbocharge, so I can get much better street but I'll miss the sound and feel!
no timing gets progressively pulled out per psi. after doing some research and looking over my tune im way too low on timing. I've put 4 degrees of timing back in and that's probably still not enough. i want to get it back on the dyno when i have more time to do some actual tuning. i also found a boost coupler that had a nice sized hole in it.
That's pretty amazing to me being all stock. I'd call that a true budget and good hp per dollar. May not hold to long but that doesn't seem to Be huge concern for you. I'm sure you do get a little tired of pulling a trans or motor, But I'm right there with you with my setup. Mine could let go at any moment I'm sure
@@rgsteele83 it does get old but I pulled the motor once in 2022 to freshen it up so not a huge deal. That’s kinda part of the fun. See what you can do on a complete budget. Sure I could have my forged stuff machined and put into a block but as I’ve learned that just makes the block the weakest link.I did finally get tired of pulling the trans so spent a little money on a C4 and a good converter. But still budget stuff. Not like I dropped 5 grand. I got the entire trans setup for 2000. Shifter cooler and all. Didn’t have to buy anything but fluid.
There was a couple of issues. That’s what the dyno is for. Ended up running 9.44 152 at the track. Had a few boost leaks causing the boost to not come in till right at the end of the pull and the Holley was doing some weird stuff with the rev limiter.
Had the same issue years ago with a 3g alternator and it would somehow phase out at 6500 and up rpm Call to PA performance and they over built a 200 amp alternator for us.
That's very similar to what this one is doing. i put my spare on it and it seems to be running much better. I've been told it has something to do with the diodes.

@@logut80 yeah at this point I think I’m just having a little bit of a combo issue. The converter is not right is probably my biggest issue having a really hard time cutting a good 60 foot 9.44 at 152 with only a 1.5,60 foot.
@@joshuagarvey9362 got a converter and engine is at the machine shop now. Going back to a 393. Beat the bearings up on the mains of the stock bottom end and wasn’t going to spend the money fixing the stock stuff.

It’s on e85 so it’s very hard to make it knock. I read the plugs for timing though.
Did putting in a new alternator fix the problem ?
It sure did. Between having alternator issues and some large boost leaks. Plus the Holley rev limiter was doing some funky stuff.
