Ochlockonee (Oh - clock - nee) River State Park is a small Florida State Park located near Sopchoppy, Florida in Florida's Big Bend area. It is the perfect place to find peace and quiet in the woods. Here you have access to the Ochlockonee River and the Dead River, hiking/ biking trails, fishing, wildlife viewing, boating, kayaking/ canoeing, and even a scenic drive through the pine forest. Unique to this park are the white squirrels and there is even a piebald doe (a white deer). You are not far from the Sopchoppy River, the Florida National Scenic Trail, St. Marks Wildlife Refuge, Bald Point State Park and more! In about one hour or less you can be in Tallahassee, St. George Island State Park, Apalachicola, or other charming small Big Bend area towns. We arrived at Ochlockonee River State Park after leaving St. Andrews State Park, another amazing Florida State Park, via US 98 and the Big Bend Scenic Byway.
What we love about Ochlockonee River State Park:
    1. Rustic, wooded park set in the "Real Florida" among the long leaf pines
    and palmettos, wetlands, and rivers.
    2. Dark skies, no artificial light here.
    3. Sites are adequate in size
IMPORTANT: PAY ATTENTION TO SIZE LIMITATIONS AND REMARKS
    WHEN RESERVING!
    4. Shower House - Excellent water pressure and temperature
    5. Lots to do in the park and the area (but it is about 30 minutes to resupply
    locations)
    6. Wildlife, birds, deer, squirrels - including the unique to this park white
squirrels and there is even a couple of white piebald deer.
    7. Scenic drive to get here.
    8. Water and Electric (dump station available)
    9. At the time of our visit, $18 per night plus $7 utility fee (tent campers do
    not pay utility fee)
What we didn't love about Ochlockonee River State Park:
    1. Verizon slow, but works
    2. Be aware, not all sites can accommodate larger rigs - choose carefully.
Florida State Parks does a great job of providing information to their
    reservation system regarding sites.
Next Stop: We are heading to central Florida for some much needed maintenance and repairs. Keep watching for details!
