    Great video! Pretty amazing how you were able to talk about all those routes in such a short timeframe. Definitely something I'd never be able to do.
    Just a small note; I would avoid getting confused between a tram class being the oldest, and a tram class being the worst. Whilst the Z3 Class are the oldest trams running on the network (excluding the W Class), that doesn't necessarily make them the worst (remember, D Class trams do exist). I actually don't mind the Zs. They're pretty good in terms of passenger flow, and they have a higher capacity, and more standing room compared to the A Class.
    Still a great video!
    Also thanks for the shoutout!

    • @QazzyTransport
      @QazzyTransport  2 месяца назад +4

      I consider the Zs the worst as they are about as small as the As but also don't announce upcoming stops.

    • @senorliamy17
      @senorliamy17 2 месяца назад

      @@QazzyTransport Cold, but I agree. Their capacities are 🤏🏻, and the Zs are particularly narrow. The As also lack sufficient capacity (ie Melbourne High students trying to get out of MSAC on route 12), but the plus is that there is a scanner on almost every pole. The Ds have walls that bulge, limiting the number of seats and giving the impression of little capacity. Plus its PIDs and seats feel backward.
      My favourites are Bs and Cs. They have good capacity and they look like they do. Cs have excellent PIDs, while I may have bias towards route 75.

    • @tekkies-transport
      @tekkies-transport 2 месяца назад

      @@senorliamy17 The B Class are one of my favourites too. Mainly coz of sentimental value as they were the first trams I ever rode on, and I used to catch them a lot back when they ran on Route 86. My favourite tram class is the E Class. They're really comfortable, modern, and have a lot of seating room.
      Then again, I am a bit biased towards the 86, which is run entirely using the E Class

    Wow great video, I love your content!!
    my two cents if I could please mate.
    I’d say as a regular commuter at the southern end that the 6 should be higher. The Prahran part is slow but it does move, but what wins hands down is frequency. The 6 is a true turn up and ride frequency tram on weekdays.
    Agree 100% with views on the 12. Used to catch it when it was the 112 then it split and became the 12 back in the day, and the 12 lost out and got the shoddy smaller trams while the 11 got the beautiful new trams. I used to board at the Fitzroy St terminus in morning peak and you couldn’t sit by the third stop and couldn’t get on by maybe the 7th-10th stop. That was 2015 or so. We were packed like sardines every morning, possibly still the case? (Not sure) And all that time 11 got the big trams!!
    And yes the 12 should go on Latrobe permanently to reduce network congestion and provide service to the north of the cbd…
    And yes the 16 has its issues but 4/10 ….. Ouch!!!!

    When I was in Melbourne in 2023 I stayed in Brunswick and took the 19 to and from the city centre. I remember thinking to myself 'is this really the world renowned Melbourne tram experience? this is shithouse' since every time I took the 19 it was overcrowded, slow and stuck in traffic, and a somewhat rough ride to boot. I'm glad my complaints were warranted though and that its basically the worst tram route in Melbourne. I can't wait to return to the city later this year and experience the trams on one of the better routes

    I have an idea why they stick to the low floor tram along LaTrobe St.....with it going to St Vincent's Hospital, it would make it easier for patients, frail, elderly, prams, wheelchairs, etc to get to and from the hospital.
    And Latrobe st does intersect other major tram and train routes, running in a north south direction, allowing for people to transfer a bit easier to get to the hospital.
    I remember when the Z class first came to Melbourne.
    They were great, but now, 40 odd years later, my knees prefer something easier to board !😂 Although I admit, some of the routes they are on, they are perfect for zipping around tight corners, as they zigzag through the 'burbs

    I dont think the D2 is the most common on the 6. Most of them are on the 19. I would say that the D1 is more common. It might also be worth mentioning that the 6 is only one of two routes that is operated out of two depots. I never thought of reallocating the 11 onto Latrobe though. The victoria harbour area is pretty quiet and the 48 is probably enough for it. 11 should be reallocated to go to central pier. Honestly slowest tram street in the city would be Chapel Street. Its so jerky to ride on the 78 because of how often the tram stops and goes. I also think you said the 19 is up next twice

    • @tekkies-transport
      @tekkies-transport 2 месяца назад +1

      From an operational standpoint is actually makes a bit of sense to run the 11 down to Central Pier via Latrobe Street, as it would pretty much overlap the entire length of the current Route 30.
      However, Route 11 provides a lot of capacity down Collins Street with the bigger trams (the E Class), compared to the As and Cs that operate down there.
      Also, whilst the Victoria Harbour area isn't all that busy, I think the plan is for the Vic Harbour routes to eventually continue down to Fisherman's Bend and the Garden City. So maybe the 11 should be kept on Collins for the sake of capacity, and futureproofing, given that two routes will be needed for the two branches in Fisherman's Bend.
