My 600-lb Life is an American reality television series that has aired on the TLC television network since 2012. Each episode follows a year in the life of morbidly obese individuals, who usually begin the episode weighing at least 600 pounds (270 kg), and documents their attempts to reduce their weight to a healthy level. Update episodes, called "Where Are They Now?", feature one or more previous patients, picking up a year or more after their original episodes aired.
Patients are placed under the care of Iranian-American Houston surgeon Younan Nowzaradan (often referred to as simply "Dr. Now"), who first has them attempt losing weight on their own by following a strict diet, and then depending on the patient's progress may offer gastric bypass surgery or sleeve gastrectomy to further assist in weight loss.

It's always kind of funny to hear these people say "I'm starving"... Words have meaning, no you are not starving, and I think if you stopped eating now, you wouldn't starve for a long, long time.
PARENTS, teach your child other ways to comfort themesleves than using food.
PARENTS, teach your children love and confidence, so they don't need ways to comfort themselves with food, dr*gs or other stuff like that 😢

Susan is a DRAMA QUEEN.. I've seen people 600 - 700lbs and they walk..
It's all relative though based on whatever problems they may have developed due to the weight.

I smoke and I can hide it, I get yelled at by family and strangers, but I CAN hide it, I feel so sorry for people with eating addictions it's so noticeable and they can't hide it!!!

It's been a year since I was diagnosed with type 2. That was enough to change how I lived and ate. Food is only a temporary fix. Hopefully, they were able to get back on track❤

FANTASTIC! I love some of the comments I've received in the past with ppl saying I'm rude or I'm mean. Neither are factual or close to the truth, I simply don't believe in making excuses. When I hear ppl say how great (ANYTHING is, it's heavenly, it's the most important thing in my life) you've perhaps heard the same? I understand beings I'm in recovery from the most addictive substances know to man! But if I want change I HAVE TO MAKE THE CHANGES! And that's exactly what you've done! And I'm sure it took work and courage BUT YOUVE DONE IT!

Betty Jo had a husband that enabled her he said if she loses weight hes scared she will leave him, he wanted to keep her the size she was as big was his preference too its terrible but some of them just think surgery is a quick fix, and some cant do anything around the house but can get around the supermarket to buy junk.

Really don't understand those enablers. It’s alright to treat your loved ones but not, when in the back of your mind, you know every bite can be their last one. They say they love them then why are they helping their way of destruction? I know that my mom really loves me! Cause when we once watched this show she turned to me and said “If you ever mess up and end like them, don’t expect me to bring you food like that! A bowl of Veggies, a bit of rice and that’s it for the whole day. Get off your butt and get therapy help!” Brutal honesty, I love it!

By definition, eating disorders are psychological. All addictions are. So you're not wrong. But the pain and other symptoms are very real
Josh brings Betty Joe all the food she wants. What does Josh get out of this relationship? Where does the money come from to buy so much food? She eats more in one day than most people eat all week. It is obscene.
I think people like her are on disabilities, which means they are getting SSI benefits.
A lot of these allow themselves to get so big because they know someone will be there to take care of them.

They should not be able to get disability allowance or food stamps for there obesity and the government to pay for surgery rather than make them worse it's crazy.
@22seanmurphy yes, SSI benefits and food stamp. Morbidly obese people 600lbs is considered a disability.
@@nadine4634 that is crazy, if you're in the UK you wouldn't get a penny from our government for that you would try to see a doctor to give you a certificate of sickness but he would probably laugh at you, thank you very much for that i do appreciate it 🍻🍻

It looks like June has lymphoedema and possibly other thyroid issues on top of kidney, heart and lung issues. I bet her doctors haven't even looked fully into it all

@@jessicathompson236 Kind of. Nothing can cause weight gain except carbs (and alcohol) but they can definitely make it harder to lose weight. It's a vicious cycle. The only fix is losing the weight though. They will not give anyone on this situation an organ transplant.

🐴 💩. I was addicted to pain pills for a couple of years due to my multiple sclerosis and I went cold turkey and hot clean. Absolutely a choice and it can be helped.

The second lady June I can't believe that those little feet are holding such a heavy body her legs are struggling under that amount of weight it must be some uncomfortable, I have a few kgs to lose mainly around my stomach I don't think I could live if I was battling food addiction.
Why it took so long? What difference does it make how long it took, she know wasn’t going anywhere without that food.
Her family members enable her. They are partially responsible for her weight gain.
It’s a very addictive behavior. They need to want to help themselves and the enabler needs help too.

That was strange the people eating off one plate in the middle of them with spoons..I know in different cultures they sometimes eat from on platter but usually have a plate near them.

The commentary on some of these videos is so ridiculous. She makes the comment of bacon and other carbs and literally all you see on the plate is chicken and salad.
How come the show shows the 600 pounds person bathroom & shower scene? Also how come plot twist shows the same 600 pounds people? Doesn’t the 600 pound show done different people?

My parents divorced and I don't have the best father , but I am a normal weight.

I’ve watched most of these and almost all of them (the women) were sexually abused for years by relatives so… not the same at all!

Some people reach for food, others use other coping mechanisms. Figure out what yours is because I guarantee you have some maladaptive behaviors.
