She seemed to enjoy your company, you were just as much as her pet as she was yours for the day! Very intriguing behavior for a wild katydid, very lucky to have had the chance to find one that was not afraid and curious as to what you were
@@outofthecity2021 I'm sorry to hear that, but eventually another might come to visit again, and if you really wanted to you could buy some ultraviolet lights to attract one at night and get some giant silk moths too, the only issue with those lights is you'll get a lot of other insects that you weren't intending to attract. But you could do that if you really wanted to see one again. Just make sure it's just the lights and not the ones with the lights and bug zapper built in
@@outofthecity2021 that's amazing! I do apologize if my previous reply had seemed rude, I figured I'd give you guys an idea so if you wanted to see another one you'd be able to do so. Thank you for the replys and patience, your video was amazing to watch! Have a great rest of your day!

Nature has many strange and beautiful creatures! I saw such a handsome man in Sri Lanka in 2014! They fly well! Hello from Kyiv! Once on the Dnieper, I saved a fish Iglu in the winter, which was frozen in an ice crust, we warmed it up and released it! I don't understand how it came to our waters from the Black Sea!? :)
I'm really scared of them since I was a child I just ran away crying after seeing these and called my parents to get rid of them even today at age 20 same thing 😅
Fascinating, when you think evolution 🧬 though, would you thank the Brain 🧠 - Diet intestines - Or the Molecular level? You could quite possibly give all 3 thanks, but any of them separately is quite a lot of credit. Even all 3 I'd fathom to say is too much credit. At the molecular level there'd have to be an astounding amount of awareness perceptually of the external world in order to camouflage. The brain 🧠 probably very small, but most mainstream Science claims this cannot cause evolution. Diet, even this is crazy because everything this creature eats doesn't look the same
Beautiful! These katydids have amazing abilities at camouflaging!
Thank you so much for showing these beauties to us! 😊

Yes, we were really surprised by her behaviour. Sadly, we have not had a chance to see one of those since.

I feel bad for your niece lmao 😭
It was like a scene from a horror movie. But I didn't want to violate her privacy by posting it on YT, that's why I have edited her out.
He looks more scared to death than friendly.😥😥😥😥
If it was scared it would have flown away instantly.
Supposedly those things can actually bite really hard
We are glad we didn't experience that 😃
This species of katydid is quite large.
I love insects!!
Who doesn't get scared when something flies into their face?
Me
Looks like it's trying to mimic a leaf by raising it's body like that!
What do you feed it?
It devours leaves of various plants. Including some of our decorative plants, which can be really annoying 😁
What a fantastic bug!
Beautiful 😊
I’m impressed you got him to behave 😏👏
I think he was a bit dazed as they normally sleep during the day I have been told.
We have smaller teal katydids here in Ohio they’re adorable though
Locality?
Negros Occidental, Philippines
Where's the bug? All I see is a leafl
😆
Haha what a perfect ending, what an experience!
It can bite
Maybe, it did not bite us, though.
Those Bite. I would know. I've never forgotten being bitten by katydid 1:18

Hmm, this one eats mostly leaves. Apparently they are nocturnal, so she/he must have been a bit drowsy in daytime.
