Please do the blind. I think it would be interesting to see how the birthday bourbon has evolved over the past 4 years. It seems like it is not trending in the right direction, but a blind may help with that decision.

Yeah....my rule is anything over a hundred I try to get a taste first, there's a lot of competition now. You'd be surprised how more easily it can be obtained.There are some good(regular)establishments that have that choice or something already available to try, especially if you already have a couple labels ready to buy.

If you have never had one of these, DON'T over pay for one. It is not that great. It is good whiskey, but it is way overhyped.
Even worse when most things MSRP are WAY HIGHER. The manufacturers want us to have their products but Wholesalers & Retail want a massive cut hence the huge increase in prices. But hey w/e makes the shareholders & board happy because they the one's seeing the profit. I miss when MSRP was higher than Retail sale but welcome to American Greed. It's why I've stopped trying to find certain bottles because that upcharge. So thank you to the handful of retailers, wholesalers & brands who stayed within said acceptable price ranges because you are the Bottles I'll continue to buy.

I say do the blind. I think it would help us who struggle to find stuff like that to either quit the hunt for it, or encourage us to continue. It’s great to know if something is worth it or not. Do the birthday blind!
We just snagged our first bottle of this ever. We were going to save it for a special occasion, but now that we hear that it's the worst, we're just going to sip it! Kidding, thanks for sharing your honest thoughts as always. You guys are the best.

Give it two weeks for fully open up and then try it again. It always amazes me how those 2 weeks really make a difference too the flavor of a whiskey.
My wife won the 2020 Birthday Bourbon, that one is phenomenal. We opened it and let it sit for awhile and the flavor profile just exploded.

Thanks for your honest reviews. I would have purchased if I had the chance, then regretted not buying more ECBP. Which Trent was correct to stop the video and just say go buy it. On the hunt for more and the latest Stagg. Both are at the top of my list, and will purchase every time I can at reasonable $. Keep up the great videos. The nose on the 2023 was Fantastic! 0n the pallet was very nice! Tasted against a Russell's 13. Myself...I would go Russell's 13...The nose on the Birthday makes it VERY close!

We won the raffle to purchase the Birthday Bourbon last year (lost this year) and flew to Kentucky to get it! I really loved it! I would love for you to do the blind. Would love to know how the other years compare in a blind.

Hate that you were disappointed by the bottle but love that you were honest about it. Definitely blind them! It's ridiculous that people would be put off by something like that. Plus I'd like to see the results so if I get around a pour of these I have an idea of which year to go for. Cheers.

11:49 I like oak in my bourbon. Of course there are other things I like too. 🙂 But one of the reasons I really love Balcones Texas Pot Still Bourbon is that there's definitely oak on the palate and the finish.
Yes...do a blind on the Birthday Bourbons. I have the pleasure of tasting the 2022 @ Old Forester in Louisville...was very impressed. Would love to know how it rates compared to the others. Thanks for your honesty. Nobody in my family won the lottery for this bottle...or the others. Thank goodness we have plenty of bourbon to drown our sorrows!

Dang! $200 MSRP?! I guess they know people will still buy it. Supply and demand! That prices me out though. Can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on a single bottle of bourbon. About $100 is where I generally cap out. I'd maybe go $150 for something really special, but just can't justify to myself going higher than that. I found a Woodford Batch Proof the other day for $145. Couldn't do it. Left it on the shelf.

I miss when you guys used to hunt your own bourbon as opposed to having a liquor store owner 'reserve' you a bottle of hard to find stuff. I'd also suggest you revisit this particular bourbon - have a look at Fred Minnick's review of it - what I found was more in line with his review than yours, especially regarding the oak...

I got to try a sample of the 2023 from a liquor store owner I know. I really liked it, but I haven't tried, let alone seen, another bottle so I don't have another to compare it with.
Old Forester is my favorite distillery, and to this day the 1910 is my favorite in their lineup. Have not had all the Birthday Bourbons, but the 1910 hits on all cylinders for me. And it's available.
